Preparation and Characterization of Barium Strontium Titanate Ceramics by Gel- Combustion Technique.
Barium Strontium Titanate (Ba0.8Sr0.2TiO3) has been prepared and characterized in this present study. BST phase pure powder has been prepared following combustion synthesis technique and the sol-gel route. Citric acid and ethylene glycol have been used as a fuel in this combustion process. Use of ammonia solution to maintain the pH 7 is a must requirement. EDTA is the chelating agent with helps in the complex formation before gel formation in the combustion process. Preparation of titanium oxy-nitrate is the integral part of all the synthesis procedure. Bulk ceramic samples are prepared following the combustion technique while thin films are prepared by sol gel route and dip coating technique. X-ray diffraction of the bulk and coated substrates are done. The densification behavior and densification kinetics of the BST powder has also been studied. Powder morphology and microstructure of sintered BST bulk samples and the thick films was determined. Dielectric behavior of BST samples has also been studied as a function of frequency at room temperature
Nevus sebaceus of Jadassohn: an unusual case report with review of literature
A 16-year-old girl presented with a new, rapidly growing, raised, hypopigmented, cerebriform plaque on the scalp. The skin lesion was brown coloured and with a waxy aspect. The diagnosis 'nevus sebaceus' was established. Nevus sebaceous of Jadassohn is a hamartoma with a combination of abnormalities of the epidermis, hair follicles, and sebaceous and apocrine glands. Herein, we report a case along with detailed review of literature of this unusual disease
ANTICANCER ACTIVITIES OF THIOSEMICARBAZIDES/THIOSEMICARBAZONES: A REVIEW
There have been tremendous development in the chemotherapy of cancer and researches are still developing new and more effective drugs to combat this disease. Thiosemicarbazides and thiosemicarbazone possess a wide range of biological applications. This key biological role is often related with their capability to inhibit the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase, similar to what is observed with potent anticancer drugs such as triapine and methisazone. Recent studies have revealed that thiosemicarbazones can inhibit topoisomerase II enzyme. This review discusses current advances of an emerging ‘new wave' of thiosemicarbazide/thiosemicarbazone and their metal complexes as potent anticancer agents, mode of action and toxicity caused by them
High origin of radial artery: a comparative, anatomical and embryological consideration
Background: Radial artery is one of the terminal branches of the brachial artery arising in the cubital fossa about 1 cm below the bend of the elbow. Diversions of the radial artery from its normal anatomical pattern as regards to its origin or its course constitute the largest group of vascular variations of the upper extremity. Unusual origin of the radial artery may cause failure of transradial approach for percutaneous coronary angiography and difficulty in the reconstructive surgery of the upper limb.Methods: The present study was conducted in the Department of Anatomy at LLRM Medical College on 16 formalin fixed cadavers (12 male and 4 female) of adult age group i.e. 32 upper limbs. Axilla and arm was carefully dissected. Axillary artery and brachial artery were dissected and its branching pattern was observed to note the origin of radial artery. The course of radial artery was noted in each case.Results: Radial artery took origin from the third part of the axillary artery in 3.12%. It arose 2 cm above the lower border of teres major, coursed superficial to median nerve in the arm and continued in the forearm as such. The brachial artery after giving its branches continued as ulnar artery in the forearm. In 96.88%, radial artery arose normally in cubital fossa.Conclusions: High origin and superficial course of the radial artery may be hazardous and vulnerable to injury during venepuncture and surgical procedures. This type of anomaly is due to failure of formation of the communicating branch between superficial brachial artery and axial artery at level of elbow. Awareness about details and topographic anatomy of such variations may help to prevent diagnostic errors, influence surgical tactics and interventional procedures.
When Silence Speaks: Exploring Reasons of Silent Treatment from Perspective of Source
The present research aims to explore source’s reasons of using silent treatment in context of a relational dyad. The sample consisted of 10 female unmarried participants of 20-27 years of age. In-depth interviews were conducted and thematic analysis was used to identify the recurrent themes. It was found that majority of participants used silent treatment with close others whom they consistently define as someone who accepts them unconditionally. While the reasons for silent behavior varied across different relationships, feelings of hurt, anger and frustration were found to be the most widespread factors that predisposed the participants to using silent treatment. This study also provides novel insights regarding power dynamics between the interact ants of silent treatment, an area which remains largely unreported in previous researches

Evaluation of Sentinel Node Biopsy in Locally Advanced Breast Cancer Patients Who Become Clinically Node-Negative after Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy: A Preliminary Study
Introduction. Controversy continues over the appropriate timing of sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy in locally advanced breast cancer (LABC) patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
We evaluated the feasibility and accuracy of SLN biopsy in LABC patients with cytology-proven axillary nodal metastasis who become clinically node-negative after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Materials. 30 consecutive patients with LABC, who had become clinically node-negative after 3 cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, were included in the study. They were then subjected to SLN biopsy, axillary lymph node dissection, and breast surgery.
Results. Sentinel nodes were successfully identified in 26 of the 30 patients, resulting in an identification rate of 86.67%, sensitivity of 83.33%, false negative rate of 20%, negative predictive value of 72.73%, and an overall accuracy of 88.46%. No complications were observed as a result of dye injection.
Conclusions. SLN biopsy is feasible and safe in LABC patients with cytology-positive nodes who become clinically node-negative after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Our accuracy rate, identification rate, and false negative rate are comparable to those in node-negative LABC patients. SLN biopsy as a therapeutic option in LABC after neoadjuvant chemotherapy is a promising option which should be further investigated
Epidural bupivacaine combined with dexmedetomidine or clonidine in infraumbilical surgeries: a comparative evaluation
Background: Alpha-2 agonist are being extensively evaluated as an alternative to neuraxial opoids, as an adjuvants in regional anaesthesia The faster onset of action of local anaesthetics, rapid establishment of both sensory and motor blockade, prolonged duration of analgesia into postoperative period, dose sparing action of local anaesthetics and stable cardiovascular parameters make these agents a very effective adjuvant in regional anaesthesia.Methods: Our study had 45 patients, all patients belonged to ASA Grade-I or II, between 20 and 55 years of age with an average height of 150 and 170 cm and have ideal body weight requiring neuraxial blockade for lower abdominal surgeries. All the patients were randomly allocated into two groups Group-I: Epidural bupivacaine 0.5% (16 ml) + clonidine 75 µgm (1 ml) Group-II: Epidural bupivacaine 0.5 % (16 ml) + Dexmedetomidine 50 µgm (1 ml) Patients were monitored for sensory and motor blockade, hemodynamic parameters, rescue analgesia, sedation and adverse effects in perioperative period.Results: The time of onset of sensory block at T10 and time to reach maximum sensory block (T6) in group-I was significantly longer as compared to group-II. The complete motor blockade (grade-3) was achieved much later and time taken for recovery to grade-0 was significantly shorter in group-I. The time for rescue analgesia in group-I was significantly shorter as compared to group-II. Hypotension was the most common side effect in both the groups. Dry mouth is a known side effect of alpha-2 agonists. Epidural dexmedetomidine produced profound sedation. Conclusions: We conclude from this study that dexmedetomidine is a better adjuvant than clonidine for providing early onset of sensory analgesia, superior sedative properties and prolonged post-operative analgesia.
