    Emotional Intelligence, Leadership Styles Communication Patterns, and Job Satisfaction of College Principals

    The quantitative method was adopted in order to measure the relationship among emotional intelligence, leadership styles, communication patterns and job satisfaction of college principals. Through cross sectional research design and by adopting convenient sampling procedure, the research participants (268) of age range between 40 - 65 years were accessed from different colleges of Lahore. The indigenous demographic questionnaire in addition to Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ), by Bass and Avolio (2000), Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS), by Spector (1994), Emotional intelligence questionnaire (EI) by Goleman (1995) and Communication Pattern Questionnaire by Christensen and Heavey (1990) was used. The findings revealed that emotional intelligence, emotional management, motivating oneself, empathy and managing others’ emotions were negatively related with passive avoidant leadership and positively correlated with communication patterns and job satisfaction. Also, self-awareness and both transformational and transactional leadership style were found to have a significant positive relationship with communication patterns and job satisfaction. Passive-avoidant leadership style was negatively correlated with communication patterns and job satisfaction. Furthermore, communication patterns were positively correlated with job satisfaction. The years of work experience, education, leadership style, communication patterns and age were found to be successful predictors of job satisfaction of college principals in Lahore. The findings carry strong implication for policy makers and for higher management in order to improve the quality of work life for college principals

    Role of Indian Movies in Adoption of Slang Words/ Phrases in Linguistic Patterns of University Students of Lahore

    This study investigates the Role of Indian movies in adoption of slang words/ phrases on linguistic patterns of college students of Lahore. This is hypothesized that slang words exposure through Indian movies determines the adoption of slang words/phrases. The sample comprised boys and girls, accessed from different universities of Lahore aged 18-24 years, selected through purposive sampling procedure. The measures for collecting data included an indigenous Demographic Information Sheet; scale for linguistic patterns was adoption. The data was analyzed on descriptive and inferential basis. The findings carry significant information regarding adoption of slang words and their relationship with linguistic patterns of students. The findings revealed that students, who watch more Indian movies, use more slang words in their routine life as well as its effects their linguistic patterns. Study found no significance difference in adoption of slang language of boys and girls from universities. Whereas it was demonstrated that students used more slang words with their friends as compared to their family members.     Increased Materialistic Trends Among Youth

    The goal of this qualitative research is to investigate the increased sense of materialism among youth. The main research question is to identify the factors which are causing materialism among youth. The sample of this research included 25 people, age group 18-25 years obtained from students that are enrolled in universities. The interpretive phenomenological approach was taken which was based on semi-structured interviews. The findings revealed that materialistic trends are increasing among youth nowadays. Because thought patterns of youth and societal demands have changed totally. Factors that are increasing materialism include social media, brand consciousness; self-centeredness; fake personality development and desire to be socially accepted. The implications indicate that materialistic trend should stop by controlling the social media possession among youth which is the primary source of enhancing materialism among youth

    Explaining Rejection Sensitivity among Adolescences as predicted by Perceived Differential Treatment of Parents

    The aim of the present research was to investigate the relationship between differential parenting and rejection sensitivity in 200 (male=95; females=105) adolescences. It was hypothesized that differential parenting (Maternal/Paternal affection and control) was likely to predict rejection sensitivity (anxious & angry expectation) in adolescents. Differential Parenting Treatment subscale of Sibling Inventory of Differential Experiences (Daniels,&Plomin, 1985) and Children Rejection Sensitivity Scale (Downey, & Feldom, 1996) were used. The results revealed that there was a significant positive relationship between maternal/paternal affection and anxious expectation domain of rejection sensitivity while maternal/paternal control was negatively related with angry expectation domain of rejection sensitivity in adolescents. Maternal affection, maternal control, paternal affection, paternal control were more significant predictors of anxious expectation (39%) domain of rejection sensitivity than angry expectation (22%) domain among adolescents after controlling for the effects of covariates. The finding of the study was helpful for the family advisors to teach parents not to practice discrimination  in their child rearing towards any of their kid in light of the fact that can be prompt create feeling to be dismisses from their critical connections.     Personality Traits, Tolerance towards Ethnic Minorities and Egalitarian Political Values of University Students

    This research aims to examine the personality traits, tolerance towards ethnicminorities and political ideology of university students in Pakistan. Politicalpsychology across the globe has been trying to find the citizenship improvementdynamics and furthering in this regard, personality based studies tend to yieldfruitful results. This has been hypothesized that personality traits and tolerancetowards ethnic minorities are likely to predict the egalitarian political values ofuniversity students. The sample comprised of 500 university students, both boysand girls between the age ranges of 19 to 24 years taken from different universities of Lahore. The instruments or measures for data collection involved a demographic information sheet, Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Tolerance towards Ethnic Minorities Scale, and Egalitarian Political values Scale in addition to Religiosity scale. The analyses were executed through SPSS version 24.00. The findings from stepwise regression analysis revealed that specific personality traits predicted attitude towards minority and egalitarian political ideologies. Thisempirical investigation mainly focuses on the proponents that people erect in their political views and ideologies in consonance to their personality dispositional tendencies. The assumption is to unravel how people relate their day today situations in accordance to unique and specific elements of their personalities. Under the framework of this theory, it has been assumed that there is a statistically significant correlation between specific and peculiar elements of one's personality and political views and ideologies thereby formed. The results of this study entail that a further fusion of Political Psychology and Personality Studies can help to develop guidelines for policymakers, political parties and voters alike

    PSYCHOSOCIAL CORRELATES OF POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER IN PATIENTS WITH FIRE BURNS

    OBJECTIVE: to elucidate the psychosocial correlates of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in the burn victims of Pakistan. METHODOLOGY: A total of 200 burn victims were included in the sample. The standardized measures were used to assess the symptom levels of PTSD. The detailed demographic profile of the patients was also received for gleaning the demographics’ association with PTSD symptoms. The screening of PTSD symptoms for further clinical management had also been catered through this data collection strategy. For analysis SPSS Version 22.0 was employed. RESULT: Mean age of the respondents was 30.56+10.3 years. Most of the respondents were males (n=111, 55.5%), panjabi speaking (n=120; 60%), followers of Islam (n=146; 73%), lower socioeconomic class (n=93; 45.5%), illiterate (n=114; 57%), Unemployed/Housewife (n=155; 77.5%) and were married (n=143; 71.5%). Most of the respondents had high PTSD levels (n=169; 84.5%). Panjabi natives (n=105/120; 87.5%), married persons (n=120/143), urban background (n= 110/118; 93.2%), persons currently living with children (n=102/123; 82.9%), Unemployed/Housewife (n=140/155; 90.3%), illiterate (n=109/114; 95.6%), respondents who experienced domestic violence (n=150/151; 99.3%) and those experienced burn injuries less than one-year duration (n=140/151; 92.7%) had higher PTSD levels than their counterparts. Fifty-one (25.5 %) respondents had suicidal ideation. CONCLUSION: Being male, married, illiterate, urban background, having history of domestic abuse, unemployed/housewives, having lower education level and experienced burn injuries less than one-year duration are significant psychosocial correlates of PTSD in patients with fire burns

    The Challenges Faced By Dental Students in Studying Oral Pathology Online During Covid-19: A Cross-Sectional Study

    OBJECTIVES The way of practising and teaching dentistry has changed significantly worldwide due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the impact on dental education should not be neglected. Therefore, sharing experiences about online teaching from in-person education is essential to a better learning process during this period. This study aimed to assess the challenges faced by dental students in studying oral pathology online during covid-19: a cross-sectional study. METHODOLOGY It was a descriptive cross-sectional study in the Department of oral pathology at Altamash Institute of dental medicine to assess the challenges students faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 110 participants were approached, and among them, 105 participants responded. Of 105 participants, 78% were females, and 22% were males. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 23.RESULTSAlmost 93.3% of the students felt in-person lectures are more effective than online lectures. Fourth-year students showed higher satisfaction with the number of online tutorial / practical classes taken to provide an in-depth view of the subject than 3rd year students (8.8% vs 91.2%, p=0.045). Fourth-year students showed significantly higher satisfaction with several online theory classes to provide an in-depth view of the subject than 3rd year students (p=0.045). CONCLUSION The present study concluded that most students prefer in person classes over virtual learning and face a lack of online interaction with the faculty.

    Brand Consciousness, Brand Loyalty, Consumer Satisfaction and Buying Behavior of Teenagers for Apparel and Clothing

    This research has been designed with the goal of examining relationship among brand consciousness, brand loyalty, buying behavior and consumer satisfaction of teenagers towards clothing and apparel. This is hypothesized that brand consciousness, brand loyalty, buying behavior are likely to be significant predictors of consumer satisfaction. The sample comprised of n-200 young students enrolled in different public and private sector colleges of Lahore and Sahiwal. The measures comprised of Brand Consciousness Questionnaire, Brand Loyalty Questionnaire, Buying Behavior Scale, and Consumer Satisfaction Scale. The data was analyzed through SPSS version 21.00. The findings revealed that brand loyalty is positively and significantly correlated with brand consciousness, purchasing conduct and customer fulfillment. Brand cognizance and purchasing conduct are strong and positive predictors of brand loyalty resulting in increased consumer satisfaction.
