Determinants of Individual Investor Behaviour: An Orthogonal Linear Transformation Approach
Expected utility theory views the individual investment decision as a tradeoff between immediate consumption and deferred consumption. But individuals do not always prefer according to the classical theory of economics. Recent studies on individual investor behavior have shown that they do not act in a rational manner, rather several factors influences their investment decisions in stock market. The present study considers this theory of irrationality of individual investors and investigates into their behaviour relating to investment decisions. We examine whether some psychological and contextual factors affect individual investor behaviour and if yes which factors influences most. Extrapolating from previous literature on economics, finance and psychology, we surveyed individual investors to find what and to what extent affects their investment behaviour. Our conceptual analysis, empirical findings and the perspective framework that we have developed in the present study, provide five major factors that can influence individual investor behaviour in Indian stock market. The findings can be useful in profiling individual investors and designing appropriate investment strategies according to their personal characteristics, thereby enabling them optimum return on their investments.Individual investor, Psychological biases, Investment behaviour, Indian stock market, Behavioural economics.
Development of low cost filter using herbal technique
It is well known fact that clean water is absolutely essential for healthy living. Adequate supply of fresh and clean drinking water is a basic need for all human beings on the earth, yet it has been observed that millions of people world wise are deprived of this. Clean water use being a prime concern in many communities of developing countries. Contaminated water plays significant role in taking numerous lives in these localities, for which a number of efforts are being made for accessing safe purified drinking water. Fortunately, efficient and cheap water purification systems are being utilized and being tried to be accessed worldwide for easy access to clean water. In the following project we had tried to develop a “Low Cost Water Purification Technique” using the basic ideas of bottle filter, some locally Herbal available filter material like Tulsi leaves powder, Neem leaves powder, Rice Husk, Sugarcane bagasse, fine graded sand and tries to improve the methodology using the UV Filter, RO Filter, and Activated Carbon Filter mechanism. Main focus was removal of iron from surface water by adsorption technique. Among all the herbal material used, the ash produce from rice husk was proved to give the best result in removal of iron and also available in local area having the cheapest material cost. Locally collected Sugarcane cane bagasse and neem leaves powder mixed with calcium hydroxide (chuna) was prepared which also proved to be effective for removal of iron

Recognition or more specifically Pattern or Object recognition is a typical characteristic of human beings and other living organisms. The term pattern or object means something that is set as an idea to be imitated. For example, in our childhood a shape ‘A’ is shown to us and we are asked to imitate that. So the shape is the ideal one. On the other hand, if what we produce or draw obeying that instruction is close to that shape, our teacher identifies that as ’A’. this identification is called recognition and the shapes we draw (that is object we made) may be termed as patterns. Thus, the pattern recognition means identification of the real object. Recognition should, therefore, be preceded by the development of the concept of the ideal or model or prototype. This process is called Learning. In most real life problems no ideal example is available. In that case, the concept of ideal is abstracted from many near perfect examples. Under this notion learning is of two types : supervised learning if appropriate label is attached to each of these examples ; and unsupervised learning if no labeling is available
Tuning photoluminescence response by electric field in the lead-free piezoelectric Na1/2Bi1/2TiO3-BaTiO3
We show that an electrically soft ferroelectric host can be used to tune the
photoluminescence (PL) response of rare-earth emitter ions by external electric
field. The proof of this concept is demonstrated by changing the PL response of
Eu+3 ion by electric field on a model system Eu-doped
0.94Na1/2Bi1/2TiO3-0.06BaTiO3. We also show that new channels of radiative
transitions, forbidden otherwise, open up due to positional disorder in the

Study Of Reactive Power Compensation Using STATCOM
The study of shunt connected FACTS devices is a connected field with the problem of reactive power compensation and better mitigation of transmission related problems in today’s world. In this paper we study the shunt operation of FACTS controller, the STATCOM, and how it helps in the better utilization of a network operating under normal conditions. First we carry out a literature review of many papers related to FACTS and STATCOM, along with reactive power control. Then we look at the various devices being used for both series and shunt compensation. The study of STATCOM and its principles of operation and control, including phase angle control and PWM techniques, are carried out. We also delve into the load flow equations which are necessary for any power system solution and carry out a comprehensive study of the Newton Raphson method of load flow. Apart from this, we also carry out a study of the transient stability of power systems, and how it is useful in determining the behavior of the system under a fault. As an example, a six bus system is studied using the load flow equations and solving them. First this is done without the STATCOM and then the STATCOM is implemented and the characteristics of the rotor angle graph along with faults at various buses are seen. In this thesis, it is tried to show the application of STATCOM to a bus system and its effect on the voltage and angle of the buses. Next the graphs depicting the implemented STATCOM bus are analyzed and it is shown that the plots of the rotor angles show a changed characteristic under the influence of the STATCOM
WASSUP? LOL : Characterizing Out-of-Vocabulary Words in Twitter
Language in social media is mostly driven by new words and spellings that are
constantly entering the lexicon thereby polluting it and resulting in high
deviation from the formal written version. The primary entities of such
language are the out-of-vocabulary (OOV) words. In this paper, we study various
sociolinguistic properties of the OOV words and propose a classification model
to categorize them into at least six categories. We achieve 81.26% accuracy
with high precision and recall. We observe that the content features are the

Role and efficacy of vaginal dinoprostone gel (PGE2) plus vaginal misoprostol (PGE1) in second trimester termination of pregnancy
Background: The addition of dinoprostone gel (PGE2) to standard regimen of second trimester abortion using vaginal misoprostol (PGE1) reduces failure rate and decrease induction abortion time interval. We evaluated the role and efficacy of vaginal dinoprostone gel with vaginal misoprostol in women undergoing second trimester abortion. Objective of present study was to assess the safety and effectiveness of vaginal dinoprostone gel plus vaginal misoprostol for second trimester termination of pregnancy.Methods: This study was a prospective cohort involving 100 women with 12-20 weeks gestation requesting termination of pregnancy. In study group 0.5mg dinoprostone gel applied vaginally followed by 400µg misoprostol every four hourly (max 3 doses) after six hours of dinoprostone gel application. The mean age of the women study was 27.2 years and mean gestational age was 18.9 weeks. The primary effectiveness of the study was the efficacy of the treatment to terminate pregnancy at 20 hrs. Secondary outcomes were induction abortion interval, failure rate, side effects. statistical analysis of study was carried out using chi square test.Results: At 20 hours, the complete abortion rate was 100%. Within 16 hours 98% women aborted without any significant side effects. Mean induction abortion interval was 14.56 hours.Conclusions: Combination of vaginal dinoprostone gel (PGE2) plus misoprostol (PGE1) is effective, safe and alternate method for second trimester pregnancy termination with. In this protocol induction to abortion interval time is less as compared to other methods of second trimester pregnancy termination
Prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in pregnancy and its relation with adverse pregnancy outcome
Background: Vitamin D deficiency is widely prevalent in all parts of the world. Pregnant women and neonates are highly vulnerable to vitamin D deficiency. Pregnant women receive very less amount of sunlight especially in parts of Southeast Asia due to traditional norms and customs. A strong positive correlation was found between low maternal vitamin D levels with gestational hypertension/preeclampsia, gestational diabetes mellitus, preterm labour, low birth weight, intra uterine growth restriction, neonatal intensive care unit admission and Apgar score. Therefore, the present study was designed to know the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in pregnant females and to evaluate adverse effects associated with it.Methods: Total 250 nulliparous pregnant females attending Tirath Ram Shah Hospital for delivery and carrying a viable (>/28 weeks) singleton pregnancy were selected. Women with serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D level <10 ng/ml, 10-20 ng/ml and <20 ng/ml, were diagnosed as vitamin D deficient, insufficient and sufficient groups respectively and the adverse outcomes was correlated.Results: In this study, out of 250 cases, 159 cases (63.6%) had vitamin D deficiency, 43 cases (17.2%) had insufficiency, and 48 cases (19.2%) had sufficient vitamin D levels (vitamin D ≥20 ng/ml). And, Vitamin D deficiency was associated with preeclampsia, preterm labour and increased risk of caesarean section.Conclusions: This study indicates that vitamin D deficiency is highly prevalent in pregnant females thus implicating the need of a uniform strategy of vitamin D supplementation to pregnant females
The Social Cost of Carbon from Permafrost Infrastructure Damage and Carbon Feedback Under Climate Change

module comprising permafrost infrastructure damage and carbon feedback under
climate change. Climate change is a crisis that requires international cooperation of
governments and corporations to reduce carbon emissions by including the cost of
carbon into the decision-making strategies. The study was performed using the
DICE-2016R integrated assessment model that incorporated emissions from the
merged element of permafrost carbon feedback and additional GHG from
permafrost infrastructure damage to estimate the SCC. The optimisation analysis
that maximized a social welfare function found that the SCC was higher by 6-24%
until 2100 than current predictions due to the combined effect of permafrost and
infrastructure damages, contributing to an extra 110 trillion US dollars by the year
2200. The research showed that current SCC values are underestimated, leading to
a lack of green innovation to reduce emissions and tackle climate change. We
propose to include the permafrost and infrastructure module in future integrated
assessment models and to set the higher SCC and increase it over time for
policymakers and businesses to foster clean technologies and mitigate future
climate damages.
