Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are at present a standout amongst the most, guaranteeing areas in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT). This new technology has boundless potential for various applications in distinctive regions, including environmental research, medical application, military, transportation, stimulation, emergency administration, security, and smart spaces. However, several constraints of the sensor nodes are the principal obstacles in planning efficient protocols for WSNs. The major challenges of WSNs include energy dissipation; prolong the network lifetime and throughput. This thesis explores logical topologies in WSN. Logical topologies play the most significant role in the overall performance of the network, including its lifetime, routing efficiency, energy dissipation and overheads. A number of logical topologies have been proposed for WSNs including flat topology, cluster-distributed topology, cluster-centralized topology, and chain topology along with their corresponding routing protocols. In addition, the outcome of the study should definitely performed an important of those parameters of concerned. The simulation experiments are done by using NS-2.34 program for the logical topologies considered are cluster–distributed, chain-based, cluster–centralized and flat with the corresponding protocols of LEACH, PEGASIS, LEACH-C and MTE respectively, while MATLAB is used to plot the graphs. The performance metrics studied are the network lifetime, energy dissipation and aggregate data received at the base station. From the results it can be deduced, that the chain topology (PEGASIS) gives a better performance (network lifetime, energy dissipation and throughput at the base station) overall topologies (LEACH, LEACH-C and MTE)

The implementation of Virtual Environments has often been used within the educational domain. This study adopts a Virtual Environment (VE) setting to enhance and develop the physical aspects of teaching the Islamic prayer to primary school children, in comparison to traditional forms of teaching through a prayer book and prayer video. An interactive teaching Software, the interactive Islamic Prayer (iIP), was designed and developed for this purpose and uses technology by Microsoft’s Microsoft Kinect 360 for Windows to demonstrate the various movements of the prayer in sequence. Through the administration of a number of questionnaires, a quantitative analysis of the participants’ learning experience were identified, as well as details over which approach the participants preferred. The questionnaires also provided a detailed insight into six areas of study from the learners’ perspective when using the various learning approaches: comprehension, learning experience, interaction, satisfaction, usability and achievement. The results revealed a higher degree of interaction within the lesson on prayer when using the iIP compared to the traditional teaching methods, and although some were unfamiliar with using the Microsoft Kinect 360, on the whole, they found it to be fun and educational. The findings also showed that the software was able to focus on lower level thinking skills, such as recalling information and memory, as a test of the students’ knowledge on the prayer before and after using the software showed a significant improvement in comparison to the other approaches. Recommendations have been given on how to effectively implement this software within these relevant classrooms

An efficient real-time data collection model for multivariate sensors in internet of things (IOT) applications

    Get PDF
In the applications of the Internet of Things (IoT), sensor board depends on a battery that has a limited lifetime to function. Furthermore, the IoT sensor board with multivariate sensors influences the battery lifetime since there is additional data transmissions that must be supported by the board causing it to drain the battery much faster than the sensor board with one sensor. The main aim of this thesis is to increase the battery life of the IoT sensor node. To do so, a number of proposals are presented. First, an updating data strategy denoted as an efficient data collection and dissemination (EDCD) is proposed. EDCD aims to save the energy consumption of the IoT sensor board with multiple sensors by means of reducing the number of transmission packets, if no significant change is reported by the payload sensing block; second is proposed a validity of the measuring sensor reading at node level (VSNL) algorithm. VSNL aims to avoid transmitting any incorrect data, which will help in saving the energy consumption; third, an adaptive threshold and new metric for multivariate data reduction models such as principal component analysis – based (PCA-B) and multiple linear regression – based (MLR-B) have been proposed. In addition, proposed a payload data reduction algorithm (APRS). APRS aims to reduce the transmitted packet size for each sensed payload, which that will help in saving the energy of the IoT sensor board. This work provides an extensive analysis for the design and performance evaluation of real-time data collection model for multivariate sensors in IoT applications. Finally, an efficient real-time data collection model for multivariate sensors in IoT applications (RDCM). RDCM integrated EDCD, VSNL, PCA-B/MLR-B and APRS and the ability to prolong sensor board battery lifetime, which that satisfied by reducing number of transmissions and payload packet size, and also increase the accuracy of data validation. Performance of the proposed algorithms was evaluated through simulation by utilising various real-time datasets. The average of the total percentage of energy saved by applied RDCM to real-time data sets injected with various percentage of errors for all nodes is 98%

The ophthalmic lyophilisate formulation has been known for its safety, tolerability, and ability to achieve higher concentrations of a drug in the internal tissue of the eye compared with the conventional eye drop. Based on this prior information, population pharmacokinetic modelling was executed and quantified an improvement in the absorption phase. These outcomes will generate novel concept to improve ocular drug delivery straightforward with patient care improvement. Modelling clarithromycin auto-inhibition started from the previous knowledge that clarithromycin decreases its own clearance with repeated dosing. A significant quantitative description of the size of inhibition boosts the faith in it to something approaching clinical impacts in efficacy of the administered doses, drug interaction and/or dose adjustment. The final model provides parameters for dose adjustment depending on patient body weight and MICs required for susceptible pathogen eradication. Combining available information about the MIC of a pathogen with the model parameter estimates provided a useful means to develop ideas toward optimization of therapy. The dextromethorphan study aimed to provide a clear picture of the metabolic activity of individual CYP2D6 alleles frequently observed in a healthy Caucasian population. Evaluations were based on prior knowledge of highly variable metabolism of CYP2D6 substrates, that is heavily dependent on CYP2D6 genotype, and the problem that phenotypic prediction is still pawned by the variability of metabolic activity of different alleles. Once the impact of individual alleles is quantitatively and significantly estimated, confidence in this approach is improved. These observations call for further evaluation of ethnic, substrate and disease impact, but for now it can be stated that these information are “highly” clinical relevant and significant towards therapeutic optimization. The phenprocoumon study aimed to identify genetic and demographic covariates for doseexposure response in a Caucasian population. Applications of previous knowledge of the role of evaluated covariates, led to confidence in the differential impact of both CYP2C9 polymorphisms on the exposure profiles and the contribution of VKORC1 polymorphisms to the overall phenprocoumon response. In addition to these findings, the differential activity of CYP2C9 alleles provided understanding of the importance of individualised drug dosing (based on genetic and demographic information) to phenprocoumon PK-PD profiles. This is not only of clinical importance in order to avoid overanticoagulation or therapy failure, but it will also decrease therapy expenses

In the recent past, Saudi Arabia has experienced an influx of foreign workers. Most of the jobs that were traditionally occupied by the locals are now taken up by foreign workers. We explore the Guanxi and country policies that have dictated the job situation in this particular region. (Cooper, 2006) In this article we look into the both literature review and research methodologies used in the study. The exchange favors and the relationships created with business mindset are as well suggested. Additionally this article elaborates on the research type of research used in establishing the predetermined objectives. Data sampling methods and their significance are considered. It gives a reflection on the real Guanxi policies on the job market currently (Eisenberger, 2001). The article investigates the policies implemented to curb conflict development between locals and foreigners. The implications of the Guanxi policies are implemented. Given that the locals are now skilled to occupy the jobs but are still missing the opportunities

HOW GUANXI INFLUENCES THE TURNOVER INTENTIONS, AND JOB SATISFACTION OF PRIVATE SECTOR EMPLOYEES FROM SAUDI ARABIA

    Get PDF
Saudi Arabia has one the most diversified and rapidly changing job markets among the Arab countries. One the most felt changes include the increase in the use of guanxi in the private sector, either between businesses or individuals. The use of guanxi enables individuals to acquire favors from other persons, which places the beneficiary in a better position, especially on competitiveness. Guanxi can have various effects on the recipient as well as the other members of the organization; some of the most affected values include the turnover intention and job satisfaction. However, the impact of the guanxi effect on job satisfaction and the turnover intention may be dependent on over variables like the job security and situational factors such as individual performance and organizational justice. The proposed study aims at explaining the effect of the guanxi concept in the turnover intention and job satisfaction in the Saudi Arabian private sector. The study will consider the contribution of job security, individual performance, and organizational justice in the development of the relationshi

HOW THE LOCAL MARKET OPENNESS POLICY TOWARDS FOREIGN WORKERS EFFECTS TURNOVER INTENTION, AND JOB SATISFACTION: A SAUDI ARABIAN PRIVATE SECTOR CONTEXT

    Get PDF
The Saudi Arabian private sector has increasingly shown openness towards foreigners by providing them with a larger fraction of opportunities than the nationals. The increase in the number of foreigners working in the private sector has led to significant change in the local market with much effect on the cost of labor and hiring trends. The tendency has resulted in unrest among the Saudis as they face higher unemployment rates as well as lack of security in the current positions. The entry of more academically qualified foreigners into the market worsens the level of job insecurity as more individuals lack satisfaction in their positions or intend to go for government positions. The current study will examine the effect of local policy openness to foreigners on the turnover intention and job satisfaction with reference to the Saudi Arabia private sector context. The lack of job security will mediate the effect of the local market policy openness to foreigners on the turnover intention and job satisfaction. On the other hand, the level of education will moderate the relationship between the local market openness to foreigners and the job security while the organizational justice will moderate the effect of job security on satisfaction and the turnover intention
