Wireless technology and clinical influences in healthcare setting: an Indian case study
This chapter argues that current techniques used in the domain of Information Systems is not adequate for establishing determinants of wireless technology in a clinical setting. Using data collected from India, this chapter conducted a first order regrssion modeling (factor analysis) and then a second order regression modeling (SEM) to establish the determinants of clinical influences as a result of using wireless technology in healthcare settings. As information systems professionals, the authors conducted a qualitative data collection to understand the domain prior to employing a quantitative technique, thus providing rigour as well as personal relevance. The outcomes of this study has clearly established that there are a number of influences such as the organisational factors in determining the technology acceptance and provides evidence that trivial factors such as perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness are no longer acceptable as the factors of technology acceptance
National Protocol For Malaria Treatment During Pregnancy
Each year more than 1.2 million women become pregnant in the Sudan, of those 750,000 are in areas with high malaria transmission: intense perennial, high seasonal transmission or in areas of irrigation.
Malaria in Africa is estimated to cause 15% of maternal anaemia; about 10,000 maternal deaths / year and 35% of preventable low birth weight.
Best practices of malaria control during pregnancy include effective case management of malaria for all women in the reproductive age in malarious areas and using of insecticide treated nets (ITNs) and adopting of intermittent preventive treatment (IPT) with SP. The programme and the partners are targeting 60% coverage with these interventions as Abuja Declaration call for by the end of 2005
Reactions and perceptions of healthcare professional towards wireless devices in healthcare environment in the developing world: a case of Pakistan
This study explored reactions and perceptions of medical professionals in the use of wireless technology in the
Pakistani healthcare setting. 300 professionals were surveyed with 97 survey forms returned. The regression
analysis indicates that clinical performance and better quality of services would be the determinants in using
wireless technology in Pakistani healthcare. These medical professionals felt that in order to continuously use
the technology, training and technical supports are essential. They also felt that the introduction of such a
technology would result in the attraction of more practitioners, save time, save effort and provide high quality
information. Collectively, these factors, in the opinion of these professionals will reduce inaccuracies in data
E-COMMERCE: ONLINE BOOKING SYSTEM FOR AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY
Nowadays, Internet has become an important element in our day to day life. The
technology regarding Internet also has improved a lot since it is introduce a long
time ago. It created a borderless world for people to communicate and seek for
information and new knowledge. The project is about developing a web site for
automobile company that provides product information that available for sale. The
reason for this project is to encourage more Malaysians to use Internet as a medium
for online shopping to increase the rate of Internet usage in Malaysia, and to provide
an automobile service to people who interested to survey product information
through online. The objective of this project is to develop a website for automobile
industry. It is to promote and provide information to potential customers where it
can be accessed at anytime and anywhere using web browser. Next, is to develop 3D
car model using VRML in order to integrate with the company website. It is to
enhance the level of understanding and realism of product being sold through
Internet. The website is developed using System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
approach. It consists of four phases; analysis phase, design phase, development
phase, and evaluation phase. The methodology is used to plan the development of
the project. To evaluate the efficiency ofthe website in overcoming the problems, a
test has been conducted. From the test, it seems that the participants are willing to
try this kind ofservice and agree that automobile industry can gain benefits from the
Internet. As to conclude, we must firstly understand the drivers of the technology
innovation. Malaysia has a huge potential for Internet procurement and we shall not
wasting the advantage that we have

The Need of Introducing Communicative Syllabuses for Teaching English in Pakistan
English is taught as a compulsory subject at different levels (mostly from class I to BA/BSc level) mainly using grammar translation syllabuses in Pakistan. The teacher plays a dominating role in the classroom and the students are rarely involved in the teaching –learning process. The syllabuses put emphasis on the usage rather than the use of language. The students are given intensive practices in reading and writing. The purpose is, however, not to develop their skills but to prepare them for their exams (Hafeez 1997c). As a result, they learn the grammar rules and acquire limited reading and writing skills but are hardly able to use English for different communicative purposes (Hafeez 1997c, 1998b). This paper, keeping the importance of English and the objectives of teaching this language in the country in view, makes an attempt to explain how the situation can be improved by introducing communicative syllabuses.</p
