How Well Sensing Integrates with Communications in MmWave Wi-Fi?

The development of integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) systems has recently gained interest for its ability to offer a variety of services including resources sharing and new applications, for example, localization, tracking, and health care related. While the sensing capabilities are offered through many technologies, rending to their wide deployments and the high frequency spectrum they provide and high range resolution, its accessibility through the Wi-Fi networks IEEE 802.11ad and 802.11ay has been getting the interest of research and industry. Even though there is a dedicated standardization body, namely the 802.11bf task group, working on enhancing the Wi-Fi sensing performance, investigations are needed to evaluate the effectiveness of various sensing techniques. In this project, we, in addition to surveying related literature, we evaluate the sensing performance of the millimeter wave (mmWave) Wi-Fi systems by simulating a scenario of a human target using Matlab simulation tools. In this analysis, we processed channel estimation data using the short time Fourier transform (STFT). Furthermore, using a channel variation threshold method, we evaluated the performance while reducing feedback. Our findings indicate that using STFT window overlap can provide good tracking results, and that the reduction in feedback measurements using 0.05 and 0.1 threshold levels reduces feedback measurements by 48% and 77%, respectively, without significantly degrading performance.Comment: arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:2207.04859 by other author

The purpose of the current study is to address a research question about the role that visual design elements have in communication. The data were collected based on their technical relevance, which highlights the general description of the field of research that includes graphics, infographics in the field of communication, and elements of visual design Review of the relevant literature and concepts: To begin with, we must consider the communication aspects of the design in order to produce truly successful visual design elements. The communicative dimension of graphic design elements such as infographics are invaluable in conveying information in a clear and engaging way. Two opened the way for the expansion of the use of visual elements in the manufacture of the media message. This study discusses the communicative dimensions of visual design elements, in general, and infographics in particular, as infographic is part of information visualization. This study discusses the communicative dimensions of visual design elements, in general, and infographics in particular, as Infographic is part of information visualization, in addition to that it is a research field related to communication as it focuses on patterns and trends in abstract data sets, and the field of infographic design, and information visualization combines the concepts of computer science, data mining, cognitive sciences and graphic design, this is important in controlling and measuring the quality of communication because the ability to collect, store and manage data, despite the increasing pace of its updating, remains our ability On their understanding relatively constant. The size, shape, and color of visual design elements can also play a role in communication. According to the results obtained, it was determined that the use of graphs as a visual communication tool was effective in evaluation, understanding and continuity.El objetivo del presente estudio es abordar una pregunta de investigación sobre el papel que juegan los elementos de diseño visual en la comunicación. Medication adherence in psoriasis : interventions and outcomes

Psoriasis is one of the most important inflammatory cutaneous diseases with a profound effect on a patient's quality of life. Treatment regimens are beneficial but only if patients adhere to them. Therefore, enhancing medication adherence is a major issue in psoriasis management outcomes. Available literature shows that adherence to medication in psoriasis is poor, but there have been no controlled studies aiming at improving it. I have investigated various aspects of medication adherence. Firstly, I assessed the impact of a simple educat ion consultat ion by dermatology specialist nurses. This randomized controlled study did not show any statist ically significant difference in the adherence rates between the control and the education groups. Mean overall adherence rates in the control and the education groups were 72.8 % and 74.9 % respectively As adherence to treatment is patient behaviour, I secondly applied graded behavioural interventions that tackle forgetting behaviour of taking medication. We randomly reminded one group of patients about the critical importance of adherence and in a second group we similarly reminded them but also helped them to make adherence action plans to fo llow (using implementation intention theory). Controlling these two groups with a group of patients with no intervention did not show significant improvement in adherence rates. The mean unadjusted overall adherence rates were 72.8%, 76.7% and 72.8% in the control group, the reminding group and the group of reminding with action planning, respectively. Generally, none of the intervention strategies we used had any impact on adherence to medication in psoriasis patients. This may be attributed to the fact that the adherence to medication in this group of pat ients is noticeably high. Perhaps multidisciplinary approaches involving both educational and behavioural interventions would give better results. Finally, I compared the results of this study with the results of a similar published study to investigate longitudinal changes in adherence behaviour. The two groups of patients were different in a number of aspects, but adherence had improved markedly over time.EThOS - Electronic Theses Online ServiceGBUnited Kingdo

Investigating energy policies to boost grid-connected rooftop solar PV in Sudan

    No full text
Grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems can reduce the energy demand from the grid and significantly increase the power available to it. However, rooftop solar PV has not yet been widely adopted in many sub-Saharan African countries, such as Sudan, although they are endowed with high solar radiation and in dire need of additional power. This paper investigates risks and policies to increase grid-connected rooftop solar PV adoption in Sudan. A simplified United Nations Development Program Derisking Renewable Energy Investment framework is adopted to investigate this over three stages. For Stage 1, a list of risks and barriers was produced based on a literature review of solar PV studies in Sudan and interviews with nine stakeholders. Affordability was the risk most often mentioned (eight times from nine interviewees), followed by concerns about poor utility grid infrastructure. For Stage 2, policy de-risking instruments and financial de-risking instruments were listed to overcome the barriers. These include the introduction of net metering, the use of a third-party organization to monitor policy implementation, upgrade of the grid infrastructure, public awareness campaigns and energy-saving schemes. For Stage 3, the levelized cost of electricity was estimated for a typical 2-kW rooftop PV system without policies (0.11 /kWh)andwithanetmeteringpolicy(0.07/kWh) and with a net-metering policy (0.07 /kWh)
