Resources - Performance relationship: The mediating role of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) in Malaysia / Noraznira Abd Razak
This study analyses the relationship between firm resources and its performance while examining the mediating roles of enterprise risk management in the firm resources - firm performance relationship within the context of the Resource-based view theory (RBV) and Donabedian theory. A quantitative approach is employed in this study and responses from 223 risk managers among Malaysian listed firms under Malaysian Bourse were analyzed by using Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) technique. The results show that intangible resources are directly related to performance, meanwhile through the mediating effect of enterprise risk management (ERM), an indirect relationship was confirmed. However, tangible resources and capabilities show negative results on the relationship with the performance of the firm and further analysis using ERM as mediator yields the same negative results. A positive relationship between ERM and performance of the firm was also obtained. On the basis of the outcome of this study, it shows that intangible resources need to be fully optimized by firms in order to improve their performances. Overall, the findings of this study reveal how firms may gain competitive advantages and eventually be able to sustain their firms' performances by implementing an integrative model of intangible resources and effective ERM process in their routines and practices
The Relationships between Mobile Environment Cues towards Mobile Purchasing Intention and Spreading Positive User – Generated Content: A Pilot Study
Evolution of technology indirectly has impacted customer purchasing behaviour and sellers promotional activity. Generally, before customers have a purchase intention, they will seek for information and all the information usually can be obtained online especially on social media. Rationally, customers would believe words generated by others who have consumption experiences as it is seen to be more credible and trustworthy. Words provided by others on online is known as User-Generated Content. Allowing buyers to fully rely on words generated by others may not always be favourable to online sellers. Therefore, researchers conducted this pilot study with only 30 respondents to determine the relationship between Mobile Environment Cues towards Mobile Purchase Intention and Spreading Positive User-Generated Content with Shaped Discussion as one of the cues. SPSS was used and correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were employed. Out of 5 hypotheses, 3 were supported and 2 were not. Finding also revealed that information provided by sellers does have weak relationship with mobile purchase intention

Coaching millennial entrepreneurs in tourism industry: a glimpse of political skill / Melissa Wee … [et al.]
The main objective of this study is to determine whether coaching support plays a significant role towards millennial entrepreneurs’ political skill. It has been argued that political skill is a learned behavior that can be developed through various ways such as coaching, mentoring and role modelling which involves experience development. In achieving high political skill, there is a need to work with skillful coaches in order to provide successful mentorship. Since political skill is treated as multidimensional which are networking ability, interpersonal influence, social astuteness and apparent sincerity, four hypotheses were postulated in this study. This study applies Partial Least Squared method in analyzing the data that were distributed to 200 respondents through questionnaires. The findings of this study are that coaching support has positive relationships with networking ability, social astuteness and apparent sincerity. Only, interpersonal influence has a negative influence by coaching support
The impact of macroeconomic variables on FTSE Bursa Malaysia Emas Shariah Index / Siti Nurulhuda Ibrahim … [et al.]
This research will focus on the relationship between selected macroeconomic variables and Islamic stock market in Malaysia. The objective of this research is to examine the impact of Aggregate Money Supply (M3), Kuala Lumpur Interbank Offer Rate (KLIBOR), Exchange Rate of Malaysian Ringgit-United States Dollar (EXRATE), Industrial Production Index (IPI), Consumer Price Index (CPI), Gold Price (GOLD) and Crude Oil Price (COP), which is combination of monetary, production and commodity toward FTSE Bursa Malaysia Emas Shariah Index (FBMES). In order to achieve the objective, this study applies the Ordinary Least Square using heteroskedasticity robust variance-covariance estimator (VCE robust) and used monthly data over the period of April 2007 - April 2016 from authorized sources which is DataStream (Thompson Reuters). The study revealed that there is a significant relationship between FTSE Bursa Malaysia Emas Shariah Index and the selected variables, namely EXRATE, IPI, CPI, GOLD and COP. However, FTSE Bursa Malaysia Emas Index is found negative, and not significantly affected by KLIBOR. Besides that, we need to exclude M3 due to high correlation with the CPI. This study is important for those market participants, especially for investors and fund manager who need to understand the behavior of the stock market in order to make a right decision in making an investment

The moderating of technological adoption on financial literacy and international entrepreneur intention
Scholars have been and will likely remain interested in the study of entrepreneurial intention because of its importance to the development of numerous countries. The literature on entrepreneurial intention has addressed a wide range of subjects, with particular emphasis on the factors that influence entrepreneurial intention. However, the vast majority of these studies were conducted overseas. Since this topic always focuses on the agriculture sector when determining entrepreneurial purpose, the study targeted that industry. The purpose of this study is to examine the aspirations of young Malaysians to become international entrepreneurs. It especially aims to determine the relationship between each component of financial literacy (attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control) and technological adoption, as well as the effect of technological adoption on young people's ambitions to become international entrepreneurs. The study's conclusions demonstrated that financial literacy (attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control) and youth international entrepreneur intention were mediated by technology adoption. The study's findings contribute to the body of knowledge and support the executive branch and other decision-makers' creation of policies and programs
Capabilities and Reputation Risks Towards Firm Performance
The effects of firm-specific resources on firm performance has been a quest of many and widely studied worldwide. In today’s business environment, arguments suggesting the relative importance of firm-specific resources in explaining firm performance variation are said to be of the greatest influence on the study of firm behavior. On the other hand, firms with strong, positive reputations can attract and retain crucial talent and often have loyal customers likely to buy a broader range of products and services. It can lead to higher sales generated by satisfied customers and their referrals and can potentially raise capital and share price, and improve the firm performance. An empirical study such as this attempts to investigate the combinations of resources of the firm and focus on reputational risk management concerning firm performance. As such, this study involves variables partially adopted from Donabedian Theory, such as intangible resources, namely capability as an exogenous construct towards endogenous construct and firm performance, as well as proposing a mediation model to analyze the mediated relationship of reputational risk in accelerating the relationship between capabilities and firm performance. This study applies variance-based structural equation modeling via Smart PLS to a sample of 161 listed firms in Malaysia as respondents. A judgment purposive sampling technique has been adopted as the respondents are derived from listed firms under Malaysian Bourse. Overall, the findings of this study reveal how firms may gain competitive advantages in terms of their reputation and eventually be able to sustain their firm’s performances by implementing an integrative model of intangible resources such as capabilities and in their routines and processes within the firms
