Abstract of WO9903581 The invention relates to a method for producing supported catalysts by impregnating or imbibing SiO2-based crystalline or amorphous support material with a pore diameter of 20 to 250 ANGSTROM with silasesquioxane metal complexes. Said supported catalysts are suitable for oxidising or epoxidising unsaturated hydrocarbons or alcohols

Advances in homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis with metal-containing silsesquioxanes

    No full text
Metal-containing silsesquioxane derivatives provide new catalysts with both homogeneous and heterogeneous applicability. The steric and electronic properties of silsesquioxane silanolate ligands render metal centers more Lewis acidic than conventional alkoxide or siloxide ligands do. This concept has been exploited in newly developed catalysts for alkene metathesis, polymerization, epoxidation, and Diels-Alder reactions of enones. Other applications are envisioned in the near future

The invention relates to a method for producing functionalized oligomeric silsesquioxanes by reacting partially condensed oligomeric silsesquioxanes with alkoxysilanes. Thus, reaction of (isobutyl)7Si7O9(OH)3 with 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane, vinyltrimethoxysilane, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ethylenediamine, etc. in the presence of Et4NOH in THF/H2O gave title compds. I (R = iso-Bu, R1 = CH2CH2CH2Cl, CH2:CH, CH2CH2CH2NH2, CH2CH2CH2NHCH2CH2NH2, etc.). The invention also relates to the use of the same for further derivatizations, for the synthesis of catalysts and the starting compds. thereof, and for the synthesis and modification of polymers.
