Recent results obtained by the CDF and D0 experiments at the Tevatron Run II are presented. A first part is dedicated to QCD physics where inclusive jet production, dijet azimuthal decorrelations and jet shapes measurements are reported. Electroweak physics is then discussed relating measurements of the W and Z bosons productions, of the forward-backward charge asymmetry in W production, of the W width and of the top quarks mass. The extensive Run II exploration program is finally approached reporting about searches for neutral supersymmetric Higgs bosons in multijet events and for sbottom quark from gluino decays

Rehosting of bacterial chaperones for high-quality protein production.

Coproduction of DnaK/DnaJ in Escherichia coli enhances solubility but promotes proteolytic degradation of their substrates, minimizing the yield of unstable polypeptides. Higher eukaryotes have orthologs of DnaK/DnaJ but lack the linked bacterial proteolytic system. By coexpression of DnaK and DnaJ in insect cells with inherently misfolding-prone recombinant proteins, we demonstrate simultaneous improvement of soluble protein yield and quality and proteolytic stability. Thus, undesired side effects of bacterial folding modulators can be avoided by appropriate rehosting in heterologous cell expression systems

Design, construction and test results of the ZEUS forward tracking detector

    No full text
The design and construction of the ZEUS forward tracking detector is described. The detector consists of 3 large planar drift chambers mounted in the forward direction with respect to the proton beam and a smaller rear detector of the same type. Test beam measurements performed at DESY show a single wire spatial resolution of 105 #mu#m and a dE/dx resolution of 8.8%. The resolution of the three dimensional track coordinates and slopes provided by one chamber are found to be 90#mu#m and 2.7 mrad, respectively.
