The purpose of this paper is to review and present a short synthesis of the scientific literature on Ecolabel and an analysis of the types of products and services in Romania that obtained this environmental label. European eco-label is the only environmental quality label (type I; ISO 14024), awarded at institutional level (EC) valid all around the Europe, and it represents a unique opportunity to satisfy consumer expectations. In this way is promotes the design, production and marketing of products with lower environmental impact during their entire life cycle compared to other products in the same category. The EU Ecolabel covers a wide range of product groups, from major areas of manufacturing to tourist accommodation services. Key experts, in consultation with main stakeholders, develop the criteria for each product group in order to decrease the main environmental impacts over the entire life cycle of the product. Because the life cycle of every product and service is different, the criteria are tailored to address the unique characteristics of each product type. The European Ecolabel was introduced in Romania in 2002

The purpose of this paper is to obtain information about the Romanian producers’ perspective on some key elements regarding the environmental aspects of their company, data on the certification SR EN ISO 14001: 2015 and the ecolabel in Romania. A questionnaire of 25 questions was developed and used for data collection, which was sent between February - April 2017 by email to approximately 531 companies representing the five active sectors in Romania. We received 189 responses that will help us to identify the main issues related to the certification SR EN ISO 14001: 2015, the ecolabel and the environmental aspects of different industries. There is a relatively low interest of companies in assessing environmental performance using independent tools. However, the low percentage of participating companies responding to the questions is relatively small, which shows that companies that really wanted to make a comprehensive environmental management assessment have been looking to answer as many as possible of questions

Comparing the problems in Romania and Senegal, regarding wastewater treatment, the present paper aims to identify the best methods and techniques to treat the municipal wastewater in small treatment plants with sequential operation. This paper examines the possibility of using Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) process to treat the municipal wastewater characterized by low flow. This paper also presents a comparative analysis of the degree of purification achieved in a SBR wastewater treatment plant, as well as legislative regulations in Romania and Senegal. Finally, the paper identifies the possible uses of the treated wastewater in different household activities

Developing a green register of Eco-labeled products in Romania

The green products market is growing up fast, but there is still a strong need to provide clear and verified information about their environmental performances in order to create a real consuming preference. The main preliminary results of a market survey conducted in Romania in 2010-2013 within the LIFE+ project -Promoting green products, aimed at evaluating the availability of eco-labeled products and at promoting their use, are presented in this paper. A national Green Register of type I eco-labeled products available in eight main Romanian supermarket chains was implemented and the main technical, environmental and financial characteristics were analysed for each product and product category. While the price difference between eco and non-eco products for the non-electric and non-electrical equipment products is very limited (<1%), for the eco products entailing operational costs it is significant (>13%) and still supports the widespread opinion that green products are more expensive. Further investigation is being carried out to draw a detailed comparison on the "real" costs of green products analysing their possible competitiveness in terms of operational costs an payback periods
