Travel of studies: cities of João Pessoa, Maceio, Natal and Recife: a look on the urban space and brazilian architectural production

Ponencia presentada a Session 8: Dimensiones psicosociales de la arquitectura y el urbanismo / Psycological dimensions of architecture and planningThis article aims to present the methodology and the final results of the elective course “Travel of Studies” which belongs to the new pedagogical project from the Architecture and Urbanism course at the University Federal of Pernambuco. It was offered for the first time in 2013.The discipline was organized to occur in four long weekends through visits of four capitals of the Northeast of Brazil: Recife, João Pessoa, Natal and Maceió. The purpose was to allow the students to apprehend the cities through four axis: intervention in historical center (axis 1), production of urban space (axis 2), production of coastline space (axis 3) and contemporary architecture (axis 4). After the four visits were complete, we prepared a poster with the comparison of the cities based on the identification of the similarities and differences of each axis we have studied

Renormalization of the N=1 Abelian Super-Chern-Simons Theory Coupled to Parity-Preserving Matter

We analyse the renormalizability of an Abelian N=1 super-Chern-Simons model coupled to parity-preserving matter on the light of the regularization independent algebraic method. The model shows to be stable under radiative corrections and to be gauge anomaly free.Comment: Latex, 7 pages, no figure

Physical regularization for the spin-1/2 Aharonov-Bohm problem in conical space

We examine the bound state and scattering problem of a spin-one-half particle undergone to an Aharonov-Bohm potential in a conical space in the nonrelativistic limit. The crucial problem of the \delta-function singularity coming from the Zeeman spin interaction with the magnetic flux tube is solved through the self-adjoint extension method. Using two different approaches already known in the literature, both based on the self-adjoint extension method, we obtain the self-adjoint extension parameter to the bound state and scattering scenarios in terms of the physics of the problem. It is shown that such a parameter is the same for both situations. The method is general and is suitable for any quantum system with a singular Hamiltonian that has bound and scattering states.Comment: Revtex4, 5 pages, published versio

Transition from Knudsen to molecular diffusion in activity of absorbing irregular interfaces

We investigate through molecular dynamics the transition from Knudsen to molecular diffusion transport towards 2d absorbing interfaces with irregular geometry. Our results indicate that the length of the active zone decreases continuously with density from the Knudsen to the molecular diffusion regime. In the limit where molecular diffusion dominates, we find that this length approaches a constant value of the order of the system size, in agreement with theoretical predictions for Laplacian transport in irregular geometries. Finally, we show that all these features can be qualitatively described in terms of a simple random-walk model of the diffusion process.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure

Poaia ou ipeca (Psychotria ipecacuanha (Brot.) Stokes.-Rubiaceae) apesar de seu valor farmacológico e sócio-econômico é cada vez menos freqüente no seu habitat. O trabalho em foco consiste no estudo de diafanização da espécie em questão a qual foi coletada no Banco Ativo de Germoplasma de Ipeca cultivada no Horto de Plantas Medicinais da Embrapa Amazônia Oriental. A espécie citada apresenta-se como levogira, com várias redes de nervuras, sendo classificada como broquidódroma, e ao longo das folhas observam-se algumas estruturas secretoras. A descrição morfológica facilitará a identificação de espécies pertencentes ao mesmo gênero

Relação peso-comprimento e fator de condição relativo (Kn) do pirarucu Arapaima gigas Schinz, 1822 (Arapaimidae) em cultivo semi-intensivo no estado do Amazonas, Brasil.

O pirarucu Arapaima gigas (Osteoglossiformes, Arapaimidae), peixe da bacia amazônica, apresenta alta taxa de crescimento e tolerância a alta densidade de estocagem, tem rusticidade ao manuseio e aceita alimentação artificial quando treinado no início da vida, características relevantes para o cultivo de peixe. Neste estudo, a relação peso-comprimento (W=a·Lb) e o fator de condição relativo (Kn) foram estimados para alevinos, juvenis e jovens de pirarucus cultivados em piscicultura semi-intensiva no município de Manacapuru, estado do Amazonas, na Amazônia central, Brasil. Alevinos foram previamente treinados para aceitar ração comercial durante no início da vida e depois foram alimentados com ração para peixes contendo 45% de proteína bruta. A equação relação peso-comprimento mostrou crescimento do tipo isométrico, com valor da constante de regressão (b) igual 3,068. O Kn variou de 0.811 a 1.170 (média de 1.007 ± 0.059) e esses valores elevados indicaram boas condições corporais dos peixes nas condições cultivadas

Optimal box-covering algorithm for fractal dimension of complex networks

The self-similarity of complex networks is typically investigated through computational algorithms the primary task of which is to cover the structure with a minimal number of boxes. Here we introduce a box-covering algorithm that not only outperforms previous ones, but also finds optimal solutions. For the two benchmark cases tested, namely, the E. Coli and the WWW networks, our results show that the improvement can be rather substantial, reaching up to 15% in the case of the WWW network.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figure

Ananas comosus var. erectifolius (L.B. Smith) Coppens & F. Leal apesar de seu valor farmacológico e sócio-econômico é cada vez menos frequente no seu habitat. O trabalho em foco consiste no estudo de diafanização da espécie em questão a qual foi coletada no banco de germoplasma do Horto de Plantas Medicinais da Embrapa Amazônia Oriental. Para realização da diafanização as folhas adultas foram seccionados nas regiões basais, mediana e ápice e em seguida fixadas em solução de hidróxido de sódio (NaOH) a 20 %. Em seguida, as folhas adultas inteiras foram montadas em resina sintética entre lâminas de vidros e o restante do material seccionado foi também montado em resina sintética, entre lâmina e lamínula. A espécie citada apresenta-se como levógira, a rede de nervuras é densa, não apresentado nenhum tipo de ramificação, caracterizando o padrão de venação em paralelodroma. A descrição morfológica facilitará a identificação de espécies pertencentes ao mesmo gênero

O jaborandi (Pilocarpus microphyllus Stapf ex wardleworth) apesar de seu valor farmacológico e socioeconômico é cada vez menos frequente no seu habitat. O trabalho em foco consiste no estudo de diafanização da espécie em questão a qual foi coletada no Banco Ativo de Germoplasma de Jaborandi cultivada no Horto de Plantas Medicinais da Embrapa Amazônia Oriental. Para realização da diafanização as folhas adultas foram seccionados nas regiões basais, mediana e ápice e em seguida fixadas em solução de hidróxido de sódio (NaOH) a 20 %. Após, essa etapa, o material foi desidratado. Em seguida, as folhas adultas inteiras foram montadas em resina sintética entre lâminas de vidros e o restante do material seccionado foi também montado em resina sintética, entre lâmina e lamínula. A espécie citada apresenta-se como levogira, com várias redes de nervuras, sendo classificada como broquidódroma, e ao longo das folhas observam-se algumas estruturas secretoras. A descrição morfológica facilitará a identificação de espécies pertencentes ao mesmo gênero
