The author of the above mentioned book, which is based upon a rich collection of historical material on the subject of peaceful co-existence of the two ethnic-national communities, is aware of the ignorance of the fact that the Turkish Cypriots have always been against enosis, the union of their homeland with Greece. As an underdeveloped ethnic minority under the threat of Greek domination, the Turks of Cyprus preferred the partition of the island in the 1950's as their compatriots wanted the union through terror campaign
