Formal Specification Of A Safe Plc Language And Its Compiler
We present a language for programmable controllers (PLC) that conforms to the International Standard IEC 1131. This language has a fully formalized syntactic and semantic definition. Moreover, there is also a formal definition of the machine-oriented target language such that the whole compilation process is rigorously specified. The availability of these formal definitions also allows early prototyping and systematic testing on several levels of abstraction. INTRODUCTION Safety-critical applications necessitate high quality in the software production process. One important ingredient for achieving this high quality is the use of well-designed programming languages and adequate support tools, such as compilers. The language design has to be oriented towards the application domain, it must conform to given standards, and it must be easily comprehensible. In order to foster the acceptance of such languages in safety-critical environments, the relevant support tools have to meet high sta..

Neuartiger Drehstromantrieb fuer den strassengebundenen OePNV. Stadtlinienbus fuer Diesel und Oberleitungsbetrieb Abschlussbericht
The aim of the investigations to be carried out in Project TV 8604 A and B was the development of a reasonably priced local traffic system with innovative technology based on a city bus using 3 phase AC technique. By using the 3 phase AC machine without a commutator, one expects advantages in dimensions, lower weight and reduced maintenance costs for the motor, controls and the power part. The actual aim was a reduction in weight and volume of the motor and controls by the use of new types of components now available from electronics and mechanical engineering, and the application of new materials and processes. A Multi-Agent Approach to Dynamic, Adaptive Scheduling of Material Flow
Advanced manufacturing control still remains an important topic in current research. Especially aspects of dynamics and of failures in the production process are insufficiently taken into account by systems in use. This paper presents a multi-agent approach to scheduling material flow that shows dynamic and adaptive behaviour. Even though machine scheduling has found a thorough treatment in AI literature, there are only few investigations on the material flow problem. In this paper, it is argued that a decentralized architecture with centralized control fits well with the local and global aspects of the scheduling problem. The top-level algorithms of the scheduling process are outlined and further improvements required are sketched out. 1 Introduction Advanced manufacturing control has long been an important topic in Artificial Intelligence research and has recently attracted interest of researchers in the field of MultiAgent Systems because practical experience with existing approac..
Simulation
We present the first rigid body real-time simulations of the dynamics of 1. the classical tippe-top, 2. the Celtic wobblestone, 3. a spinning ellipsoid and 4. a spinning coin with a hole. The simulations are carried out with two different approaches representing the state-of-the-art in rigid body simulation and both are especially suitable for certain unilateral contact situations. On the one hand we use an ‘impulse-based’ and on the other hand a ‘constraint-based ’ simulation technique. The behaviour of the toys is very much dependent on dynamic, static and rolling friction effects. That is why they are very appropriate evaluation examples for the friction and also collision modeling capabilities of the two approaches. We present the simulation results, make a comparison and draw conclusions concerning their physical correctness and applicability in our module for the simulation of rigid body dynamics in virtual reality environments. The industrial application background of the simulation techniques is also sketched.
