<em>The article describes the therapy for atopic dermatitis with topical glucocorticosteroids. Parameters of the «ideal» topical cortico steroid are provided: strong anti-inflammatory effect, low systemic bioavailability, quick action onset, minimal side effects, multiplicity of pharmaceutical forms. It describes results of a number of clinical trials for efficacy and safety of using mometasone furoate in children, a pharmaceutical product close enough to the «ideal» characteristics of a topical corticosteroid.</em><br /><strong><em>Key words: atopic dermatitis, topical glucocorticosteroids, mometasone furoate, children, safety.</em></strong

ALLERGIC RHINITIS: DIAGNOSTICS AND TREATMENT (BASED ON EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR PEDIATRICIANS)

    No full text
In the presented materials, the authors present one of the most widespread allergic diseases in children — allergic rhinitis, its classification, clinical implications, diagnostic techniques. The principles of treatment for this pathology are examined in more detail, with consideration of improvements in the pharmacology and newly appeared medications prophylactic measures against allergic rhinitis are given.Key words: allergic rhinitis, prevalence rate, clinical treatment, diagnostics, treatment, prophylaxis, children

CHILD ALLERGIC RHINITIS: DOES THERAPY AFFECT PATIENTS' COGNITIVE FUNCTIONS AND QUALITY OF LIFE

    No full text
According to world health organization data, allergic reactions occur more frequently nowadays, with allergic rhinitis, including its perennial form, being the most common allergy among children. Basing on their own research, the authors demonstrate that severe clinical courses of this disease significantly affect cognitive functions and quality of life of children that suffer from this disease. The article features data that demonstrates positive effect of pathogenetic therapy on these factors of life of patients with perennial allergic rhinitis.Key words: allergic rhinitis, cognitive function, quality of life, treatment, antihistaminic, children

To evaluate the status of the cognitive sphere among the children with the lengthy run of the perennial allergic rhinitis and elaborate the therapeutic tactics for the correction of the revealed disc orders, the researchers have examined 108 children aged between 14 and 15 years old. The research included patients with the exacerbation of the moderately severe or severe run of the perennial allergic rhinitis and length of the disease for no less than 3 years. As the basic therapy, the researchers prescribed mometasone nasal spray to all the children (Nasonex, Scheringcplough, USA). Before, in the course of and immediately right after the treatment, all the patients underwent the evaluation of the cognitive functions with the aid of the «binatest» and «mnemotest» test computer systems. The researchers determined the oxygen concentration in blood with handy pulse oximetry OXY 9. The research findings showed that 95,3% of the examined children suffered from the disorders of the cognitive functions. The application of the adequate anti-inflammatory therapy of the perennial allergic rhinitis effectively corrected the changes in the cognitive sphere of the children, suffering from the perennial allergic rhinitis. The oxygen concentration in blood of the children with the perennial allergic rhinitis remained normal at different stages of the disease. Thus, children, persistently suffering from the perennial allergic rhinitis, are recommended to undergo monitoring of the cognitive functions and prompt prescription of the adequate anti-inflammatory therapy of the disease.Key words: children, perennial allergic rhinitis, cognitive functions, treatment, mometasone.</strong

NOOTROPE MEDICATIONS FOR COGNITIVE DISORDERS CORRECTION IN CHILDREN WITH EPILEPSY

The paper presents the results based on the experience of pant ham (hopantenic acid) application, in treatment of 21 patients aged 7–8 years, suffering from benign childhood epilepsy with centroctemporal spikes (rolandic epilepsy), accompanied with impairments of cognitive functions (CF). Utilizing the computer testing systems, basic CF parameters were analyzed before and after the course of pant ham treatment as an add on treatment to basic antiepileptic therapy. Statistically relevant positive effect of the medicine on CF parameters was demonstrated. The authors highly estimate the clinical efficacy of the medication under study. Basic pharmacological and pharmacokinetic properties of hopantenic acid are described.Key words: children, epilepsy, benign childhood epilepsy with centro temporal spikes (rolandic epilepsy), cognitive functions, hopantenic acid

This article is dedicated to the burning issue, which is the impact of the long term treatment for allergic rhinitis on the quality of life of patients and their family members. It was uncovered that practically all the children, suffering from allergic rhinitis, experienced certain phenomena of the social deadaptation and decreased quality of life. in the meantime, the adequate anti-inflammatory therapy for the acute allergic rhinitis is conducive to better quality of life of children and their family members, while the prescription of a cognitive nootrop — hopantenic acid together with the basic anti-inflammatory therapy for the all year allergic rhinitis by means of mometasone much more efficiently improves the quality of life of children, suffering from persistent allergic rhinitis.Key words: allergic rhinitis, children, hopantenic acid, mometasone, treatment

Coughing is the most frequent symptom that accompanies diseases of the bronchopulmonary system. However, it may develop in a number of diseases that vary in its pathogenesis and location. Despite the variety of potential causes, in most cases acute respiratory infections (ARIs) play the key role in the etyology of coughing. Key methods of therapy for coughing in ARIs include efforts to improve the bronchial drainage function, restore mucociliary clearance, antiinflammation and, if necessary, broncholytic therapy. However, if coughing disrupts the well-being and condition of a patient (non-productive, short, compulsive, vomitory, chest pain causing, sleep and appetite disturbing), cough suppressive medications are administered. To this end, combined preparations containing codeine are successfully used in pediatric practice. Key words: coughing, combined antitussive preparations, children.(Pediatric Pharmacology. – 2010; 7(6):78-80
