WHO global research priorities for antimicrobial resistance in human health

    Get PDF
The WHO research agenda for antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in human health has identified 40 research priorities to be addressed by the year 2030. These priorities focus on bacterial and fungal pathogens of crucial importance in addressing AMR, including drug-resistant pathogens causing tuberculosis. These research priorities encompass the entire people-centred journey, covering prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of antimicrobial-resistant infections, in addition to addressing the overarching knowledge gaps in AMR epidemiology, burden and drivers, policies and regulations, and awareness and education. The research priorities were identified through a multistage process, starting with a comprehensive scoping review of knowledge gaps, with expert inputs gathered through a survey and open call. The priority setting involved a rigorous modified Child Health and Nutrition Research Initiative approach, ensuring global representation and applicability of the findings. The ultimate goal of this research agenda is to encourage research and investment in the generation of evidence to better understand AMR dynamics and facilitate policy translation for reducing the burden and consequences of AMR

Constitutive modelling of dual phase steel sheet and tube

Automobile manufacturers are currently striving to improve vehicle fuel efficiency through reduction of vehicle weight. Dual phase steels are good candidates for automotive bodies due to their high strength-to-weight ratio, and good formablity and weldability. As part of a project on the interaction between forming and crashworthiness, constitutive parameters of a dual phase steel were determined for both sheet and tube stock in order to support analysis of the tube response throughout forming processes and in crash simulations. Stress - strain data was collected at a quasi-static rate as well as rates from 0.1 to 1500 s1^{ - 1}. The intermediate strain rate response was captured using an instrumented falling weight tensile tester (35 – 100 s1)^{ - 1}), while a tensile split Hopkinson bar (500 – 1500 s1)^{ - 1}) was used to capture the high-rate response. This range of strain rates is typical of the rates seen in a crash simulation. Tests were also performed at higher temperatures (150°C and 300°C) at rates of 500 and 1500 s1^{ - 1} to capture the thermal softening response.
The dual phase steel sheet and tube show an appreciable amount of strain rate sensitivity throughout the complete range of strain rates. It also exhibited a large amount of thermal softening. The thermal sensitivity is identical for the sheet and tube. Fits to the Johnson-Cook constitutive model were obtained from the experimental results

In the Bosom of the Earth. A New Megalithic Monument at the Antequera World Heritage Site (Spain)

Antequera is widely recognised as an outstanding example of the European megalithic phenomenon. One of its most remarkable features is the intense relationship between conspicuous natural formations and human-made monuments. In September 2020 a grave, part ‘natural monument’, part hypogeum, part megalith, was discovered at the foot of La Peña de los Enamorados, a limestone massif that dominates the Antequera plain. The excavation and study of this tomb, based on a multi-method geological, architectural, archaeoastronomical, bioarchaeological and radiocarbon-based approach, reveals the centrality of this mountain in the Neolithic world-view while at the same time adds further layers of complexity to the Antequera landscape as a whole

Doses de fósforo a partir de 150kg ha-1 não são recomendadas quando se pretende produzir picles, a partir do xilopódio do umbuzeiro.<br>The fertilization, notable with nitrogen and phosphorous, is fundamental on initial development stadium on fruits nursery trees. However, there is little scientific information about ‘umbuzeiro’. This work had as objective to evaluate the effect of nitrogen and phosphorous’ doses on ‘umbuzeiro’ rootstocks (Spondias tuberosa Arr. Câm.). The experiment was carried out under nursery at ‘Universidade Federal de Sergipe’ being used experimental design of randomized blocks in factorial 4X4 with four levels of nitrogen and four levels of phosphorous (0, 50, 100 and 150kg ha-1 of N and P2O5) respectively under urea form and simple superphosphate, with four replications. The higher rootstock (12.52cm) was obtained with doses of 97.58kg ha-1 of N, the higher stem diameter (2.18mm) was obtained with doses of 150kg ha-1 of N and 150kg ha-1 of P2O5. The major number of leaves was observed on presence of 126.03kg ha-1 of N and 150kg ha-1 of P2O5. The major dry matter production of total aerial plant was verified with a dose of 98.71kg ha-1 of N and 150kg ha-1 of P2O5. The leaf area presented a linear grown for both factors. The nitrogen and phosphorous fertilization contribute as positive performance on ‘umbuzeiro’ doing the rootstocks development anticipated for some fruit trees of the Spondias genus. Phosphorous’ doses from 150kg ha-1 were not recommended for pickles production using ‘umbuzeiro’ xylopodium
