A study on parent’s perception towards children viewing cartoon channels
Television has become a member of every Indian family. Most of the children are eagerly watching cartoon programs on television. This is a subject of research that how television educates the children about various aspect of life and what are the impacts of cartoon programs on children. This study is used to know about children’s interest on type of cartoon and favourite channels and analyzing the parental perception towards children viewing cartoon. This research indicates the positive and negative attitude of rural children towards various aspects of cartoon programs
Fat Absorption in Commercial French Fries Depending on Oil Type and Coating
This study examines the effect of edible coatings, type of oil used, and cooking method on the fat content of commercially available French fries. In contrast to earlier studies that examined laboratory prepared French fries, this study assesses commercially available French fries and cooking oils. This study also measured the fat content in oven baked French fries, comparing the two cooking methods in addition to the comparisons of different coatings’ oil uptake. The findings of this study were that the type of oil used did have a significant impact on the final oil content of the uncoated and seasoned fries. The fries coated in modified food starch and fried in peanut and soy oils had what appeared to be significantly higher oil content than those fried in corn oil or baked, but the difference was not statistically significant. Additionally, fat content in French fries with hydrocollidial coatings that were prepared in corn oil were not significantly different than French fries with the same coating that were baked
In vitro ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND ANTIOXIDANT EVALUATION OF AN INDIGENOUS MEDICINAL PLANT – Pterospermum rubiginosum
The current study was carried out to determine the antioxidant potential, anti-inflammatory activity, and cellular viability of Pterospermum rubiginosum (PR), a tropical tree endemic to the Western Ghats. The antioxidant activities of the PR bark methanolic (PRME) and aqueous extract (PRAQ) were tested using ABTS as well as superoxide, nitric oxide, and hydroxyl radical assays. Total antioxidant activity was evaluated by adopting the colorimetric method and correlation with their antioxidant activities was derived by Pearson co-efficient analysis. The PRME showed the highest ABTS radical scavenging activity, EC50 (46.09µg/ml) followed by PRAQ (52.08µg/ml). Furthermore, the PRME exhibited the highest scavenging activity against superoxide, nitric oxide, and hydroxyl radicals. The MTT assay results revealed good cellular viability up to a concentration of 100µg/ml with an EC50 (106.869µg/ml). The inflammatory mediators such as Cox-2, IL-1β, IL-6, and NF-kB were reduced during the treatment of PRME in LPS stimulated RAW cells. The stress marker in rat liver cells such as glutathione reductase (GR), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), and reduced glutathione (GSH) levels was found in normal levels when compared to the untreated group of rats. The antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase and catalase also exhibited notable bioactivity in PRME treated groups up to a concentration of 1000µg/ml. The present study showed excellent In vitro and In vivo antioxidant activity; the potent anti-inflammatory ability of PRME in reducing the LPS induced inflammation in cell culture conditions
A new technique to improve RFI suppression in radio interferometers
Radio interferometric observations are less susceptible to radio frequency
interference (RFI) than single dish observations. This is primarily due to :
(1)fringe-frequency averaging at the correlator output and (2) bandwidth
decorrelation of broadband RFI. Here, we propose a new technique to improve RFI
suppression of interferometers by replacing the fringe-frequency averaging
process with a different filtering process. In the digital implementation of
the correlator, such a filter should have cutoff frequencies times
the frequency at which the baseband signals are sampled. We show that filters
with such cutoff frequencies and attenuation 40 dB at frequencies above the
cutoff frequency can be realized using multirate filtering techniques.
Simulation of a two element interferometer system with correlator using
multirate filters shows that the RFI suppression at the output of the
correlator can be improved by 40 dB or more compared to correlators using a
simple averaging process.Comment: 12 pages, 7 figures; Invited talk given at IVS Symposium in Korea --
