Two site self consistent method for front propagation in reaction-diffusion system

We study front propagation in the reaction diffusion process A↔2AA\leftrightarrow2A on one dimensional lattice with hard core interaction between the particles. We propose a two site self consistent method (TSSCM) to make analytic estimates for the front velocity and are in excellent agreement with the simulation results for all parameter regimes. We expect that the simplicity of the method will allow one to use this technique for estimating the front velocity in other reaction diffusion processes as well.Comment: 6 figure

Seismic investigation of the solar structure using GONG frequencies

    Get PDF
Using the recently obtained GONG frequencies, we investigate the properties of the solar interior by constructing solar models with various input physics like opacities, equation of state, nuclear reaction rates etc. The differential asymptotic inversion technique is then used to infer the relative difference in sound speed between the Sun and solar models. Here we apply these results to test equation of state and different formulation for calculating the convective flux.Comment: Latex, 2 pages, 3 figures, To appear in the IAU Symp. # 181: "Sounding solar and stellar interiors", eds. Ash management plan of CESC Ltd An overview

    Get PDF
CESC Ltd,- Calcutta, in its three power generating station viz Titagarh, Southern and Budge- Budge generating about 625 MW of power on coal based boilers, produces about 2,850 TPD of coal ash. The ash management cell of CESC earmarking some areas of ash utilisation, viz. cement replacement, row sub-base construction, air-port tarmac, structural fills, agroapplication as a soil amendment, light weight aggregate and other value added products, has started working towards achievement in the ash utilisation. The overall management of CESC over all the three generating power stations and management of individual power station are briefly discussed

Solar cycle induced variations in GONG p-mode frequencies and splittings

    Get PDF
We have analysed the recently available GONG p-mode frequencies and splitting coefficients for a period of three and half years, including the rapidly rising phase of solar cycle 23. The analysis of mean frequency shift with different activity indices shows that the shift is equally correlated with both magnetic and radiative indices. During the onset of the new cycle 23, we notice that the change in b4b_4 splitting coefficient is more prominent than the change in b2b_2. We have estimated the solar rotation rate with varying depth and latitude. In the equatorial region, the rotation first increases with depth and then decreases, while an opposite behaviour is seen in the polar region. We also find a small but significant temporal variation in the rotation rate at high latitudes.Comment: Uses aastex, To appear in Astrophysical Journal, October 10, 2000 issu

Critical points of the Black-Hole potential for homogeneous special geometries

    Get PDF
We extend the analysis of N=2 extremal Black-Hole attractor equations to the case of special geometries based on homogeneous coset spaces. For non-BPS critical points (with non vanishing central charge) the (Bekenstein-Hawking) entropy formula is the same as for symmetric spaces, namely four times the square of the central charge evaluated at the critical point. For non homogeneous geometries the deviation from this formula is given in terms of geometrical data of special geometry in presence of a background symplectic charge vector.Comment: 17 pages, LaTeX fil
