Interrelationship between implant and orthognathic surgery for the rehabilitation of edentulous cleft palate patients: a case report
A 43-year-old woman with a unilateral cleft lip and palate, presenting a totally edentulous maxilla and mandible with marked maxillomandibular discrepancy, attended the Prosthodontics section of the Hospital for Rehabilitation of Craniofacial Anomalies, University of São Paulo for treatment. She could not close her mouth and was dissatisfied with her complete dentures. Treatment planning comprised placement of six implants in the maxilla, four in the mandible followed by prostheses installation and orthognathic surgery. The mandibular full arch prosthesis guided the occlusion for orthognathic positioning of the maxilla. The maxillary complete prosthesis was designed to assist the orthognathic surgery with a provisional prosthesis (no metal framework), allowing reverse treatment planning. Maxillary and mandibular realignment was performed. Three months later, a relapse in the position of the maxilla was observed, which was offset with a new maxillary prosthesis. This isa complex interdisciplinary treatment and two-year follow-up is presented and discussed. It should be considered that this type of treatment could also be applied in non-cleft patients
RIGED-RA project - Restoration and management of Coastal Dunes in the Northern Adriatic Coast, Ravenna Area - Italy
Coastal dunes play an important role in protecting the coastline. Unfortunately, in the last decades dunes have been removed or damaged by human activities. In the Emilia- Romagna region significant residual dune systems are found only along Ravenna and Ferrara coasts. In this context, the RIGED-RA project "Restoration and management of coastal dunes along the Ravenna coast" (2013-2016) has been launched with the aims to identify dynamics, erosion and vulnerability of Northern Adriatic coast and associated residual dunes, and to define intervention strategies for dune protection and restoration. The methodology is based on a multidisciplinary approach that integrates the expertise of several researchers and investigates all aspects (biotic and abiotic), which drive the dune-beach system. All datasets were integrated to identify test sites for applying dune restoration. The intervention finished in April 2016; evolution and restoration efficiency will be assessed
Il modello Electre III nella valutazione dell'affidabilità delle compagnie di assicurazione
The balance sheet of the insurance companies, throught the various indicators, is very often the only decisional support on wich operators, users and control committees base their evaluations. In this framework , the classical statistical instruments sometimes lack their capabilities to a complete and exhaustive sinthesis. The aim of this paper is to check the validity of the multicriteria models in solving this kind of problems, gathering all the information that the decision maker esteems essential for an optimal ranking solution

Multicriteria approach as a decision-support tool in the forest sector
In this paper we present the multicriteria approach as a tool for supporting decision in the forest sector. The multifunctionality of forest ecosystem (forest ecosystem services) have been recognised as a crucial characteristic; therefore, interventions associated to different programs, plans, projects are assessed with increasing attention. The above need call for an appropriate scientific framework able to face the different interests around forests, and the multifunctional and multidimensional (social, economic and environmental) characteristics of a decision problem. Among the different decision support tools used in forest and environmental sectors, this article describes the conceptual and applicative developments of the multicriteria analysis in the forest sector. Through the multicriteria approach a compromise solution may be achieved, where an appropriate aggregation method allows considering different points of view, which are transformed into multiple evaluation criteria. The theoretical and practical framework proposed in this work may constitute a valuable support for decision makers in the forest sector
State monitoring of a population system in changing environment
For Lotka-Volterra population systems, a general model of state monitoring is presented. The model includes time-dependent environmental effects or direct human intervention (treatment) as control functions and, instead of the whole state vector, the densities of certain indicator species (distinguished or lumped together) are observed. Mathematical systems theory offers a sufficient condition for local observability in such systems. The latter means that, based on the above (dynamic) partial observation, the state of the population can be recovered, at least near equilibrium. The application of this sufficient condition is illustrated by three-species examples such as a one-predator two-prey system and a simple food chain
