CTEQ nuclear parton distribution functions
We show for the first time preliminary results of nuclear parton distribution
function analysis of charged lepton DIS and Drell-Yan data within the CTEQ
framework including error PDFs. We compare our error estimates to estimates of

Heavy Quark Production in the ACOT Scheme Beyond NLO
We analyze the properties of the ACOT scheme for heavy quark production and
make use of the MS-Bar massless results at NNLO and N3LO for the structure
functions F2 and FL in neutral current deep-inelastic scattering to estimate
the higher order corrections. The dominant heavy quark mass effects at higher
orders can be taken into account using the massless Wilson coefficients
together with an appropriate slow-rescaling prescription implementing the phase
space constraints. Combining the exact ACOT scheme at NLO with these
expressions should provide a good approximation to the full calculation in the

A Hybrid Scheme for Heavy Flavors: Merging the FFNS and VFNS
We introduce a Hybrid Variable Flavor Number Scheme for heavy flavors,
denoted H-VFNS, which incorporates the advantages of both the traditional
Variable Flavor Number Scheme (VFNS) as well as the Fixed Flavor Number Scheme
(FFNS). By including an explicit -dependence in both the Parton
Distribution Functions (PDFs) and the strong coupling constant , we
generate coexisting sets of PDFs and for at any
scale , that are related analytically by the
matching conditions. The H-VFNS resums the heavy quark contributions and
provides the freedom to choose the optimal for each particular data set.
Thus, we can fit selected HERA data in a FFNS framework, while retaining the
benefits of the VFNS to analyze LHC data at high scales. We illustrate how such

We present updated nCTEQ nuclear parton distribution functions with errors
including pion production data from RHIC. We compare them with the results of

Treatment of Heavy Quarks in Deeply Inelastic Scattering
We investigate a simplified version of the ACOT prescription for calculating
deeply inelastic scattering from Q^2 values near the squared mass M_H^2 of a
heavy quark to Q^2 much larger than M_H^2.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figure
The Distribution of Constituent Charm Quarks in the Hadron
Using a statistical approach in the framework of non-covariant perturbation
theory the distributions for light and charmed quarks in the hadron have been
derived, taking into account the mass of the charmed quark. The parameters of
the model have been extracted from the comparison with NA3 data on
hadroproduction of J/psi particles. A reanalysis of the EMC data on charm
production in muon-nucleon scattering has been performed. It has been found in
comparison with the conventional source of charmed quarks from photon-gluon
fusion, that the EMC data indicate the presence of an additional contribution
from deep-inelastic scattering on charmed quarks at large x. The resulting
admixture of the Fock states, containing charmed quarks in the decomposition of
the proton wave function is of the order of 1%. The approach presented for the
excitation of the Fock states with charmed quarks can also be applied to states
with beauty quarks as well as to the hadronic component of the virtual photon

Form and Function of Narrative Repetition in Aphasia: Clinical Implications
Clinical aphasiologists have long recognized that repetition is found in the discourse of speakers with acquired neurogenic communication disorders. Examples of repetition associated with pathology may include echolalia, perseveration, stereotypies, false starts, and recurrent digression. These types of repetition are often interpreted as signs of poor inhibition of undesired responses or poor activation of desired responses, e.g., as associated with anomia. What is typically not addressed in clinical research is the relative degree to which similar categories of performance errors are also found in the discourse productions of non-brain-injured communicators
