Innovation Diffusion in the Supply Chain

    No full text
Professional literature has not devoted too much attention to innovation diffusion in the supply chain. Specificity of innovation in supply chains also lacks relevant classification. The aim of this paper is to fill this gap by suggesting classification of innovation adjusted to specificity of supply chains and to describe the model of innovation diffusion in the supply chain. In order to verify the model of innovation diffusion in the supply chain, the following research methods were used: literature research, case description and instrumental case study. These are qualitative methods, often applied in theories of management. There were presented two instrumental descriptions of cases, being an effect of literature research and four descriptions of cases, being based on descriptions of innovative solutions in the logistics, submitted to the Polish contest titled "Innovative Solutions for the Logistics" in 2011. The research hypothesis, which is the model of innovation diffusion in the supply chain, has only been partly validated. As a result, the model of innovation diffusion in the supply chain requires further research, with the aim of the confirmation or the falsification

The traits of innovative relations in supply chain

This paper is aimed at discussion of traits of supply chain relationships that impact its innovativeness. The thesis is proposed, that partnerships in supply chain support innovative solutions in supply chain and partnerships traits that enhance supply chain innovativeness are: mutual trust, engagement, relationship capital, the proper balance between power and dependence, and the right conflict management. The conclusion is drown that supply chain managers should be responsible for creating relationships among supply chain partners, that foster supply chain innovativeness. To achieve this, supply chain managers should: develop the relationship capital, build partner relationships, shape mutual trust and engagement among supply chain partners. They should also be responsible for molding the proper balance between power and dependence, and the right conflict management among supply chain partners

Logistics has a huge but largely untapped innovation potential. In an industry in which a key role is played by reliability, punctuality and efficient use of resources, innovation is becoming inevitable. A particularly important role is assigned to technological innovation. The purpose of this article is to present the leading innovative solutions in logistics, mainly in the area of information technologies with special emphasis on Internet of Things (IoT). Leading technological innovations will be discussed in the context of the major trends in the development of logistics. The impact of innovative technologies on the functioning of supply chains will be discussed as well as the main barriers and constraints in the implementation of these solutions in logistics

There is no doubt that the subject of innovation in supply chain is important. Many authors express this opinion, but they also stress that the subject of innovation is not widely-discussed in the literature concerning logistics, and the sources and logie of creating innovation are not well-known. This paper is aimed at explaining and discussing the sources and mechanisms of innovation in the supply chain. supply chain innovation models are discussed. On the basis of the analysis of supply chain innovation models, the main conclusions are drown. Supply chain innovation process has an interactive character and thus it requires a holistic approach. The abilities of innovation creation depend on the supply chain resources, its structure, management and goals, and business processes inside it. Innovation is usually the effect of the cooperation be- tween supply chain partners. Innovations are created in the upper or the downside part of supply chain. The may be also created on the whole length of the supply chain. The sources of innovations are always customer needs
