    Graph Abstraction and Abstract Graph Transformation

    Many important systems like concurrent heap-manipulating programs, communication networks, or distributed algorithms are hard to verify due to their inherent dynamics and unboundedness. Graphs are an intuitive representation of states of these systems, where transitions can be conveniently described by graph transformation rules. We present a framework for the abstraction of graphs supporting abstract graph transformation. The abstraction method naturally generalises previous approaches to abstract graph transformation. The set of possible abstract graphs is finite. This has the pleasant consequence of generating a finite transition system for any start graph and any finite set of transformation rules. Moreover, abstraction preserves a simple logic for expressing properties on graph nodes. The precision of the abstraction can be adjusted according to properties expressed in this logic to be verified

    Structural analysis of disordered dimer packings

    Jammed disordered packings of non-spherical particles show significant variation in the packing density as a function of particle shape for a given packing protocol. Rotationally symmetric elongated shapes such as ellipsoids, spherocylinders, and dimers, e.g., pack significantly denser than spheres over a narrow range of aspect ratios, exhibiting a characteristic peak at aspect ratios of αmax ≈ 1.4–1.5. However, the structural features that underlie this non-monotonic behaviour in the packing density are unknown. Here, we study disordered packings of frictionless dimers in three dimensions generated by a gravitational pouring protocol in LAMMPS. Focusing on the characteristics of contacts as well as orientational and translational order metrics, we identify a number of structural features that accompany the formation of maximally dense packings as the dimer aspect ratio α is varied from the spherical limit. Our results highlight that dimer packings undergo significant structural changes as α increases up to αmax manifest in the reorganisation of the contact configurations between neighbouring dimers, increasing nematic order, and decreasing local translational order. Remarkably, for α > αmax our metrics remain largely unchanged, indicating that the peak in the packing density is related to the interplay of structural rearrangements for α αmax

    Turkey’s Northern Iraq Policy Within the Dilemma of National Security Problems and Economic Cooperation (2003-2015)

    The general characteristic of the foreign policy adopted by Turkey for North Iraq has been shaped based on the national integrity of Iraq since the Gulf War4. However developments in this country caused an increase in seperation demands from North Iraq Kurds. On the other hand this region had become an important base for Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) since 1980’s. Turkey’s security dilemma and priorities over Iraq were formulated as “red lines” and decleraded before invasion of Iraq. But North Iraq based security issues increased after the occupation of Iraq by the United States of America (USA). Getting support of the USA Iraqi Kurds began to follow a policy as political rival of Turkey. But economic relations, which have been established with the regional Government in terms of energy and trade, caused cooperation in other fields. So transfomation of bilateral relations of Turkey and Kurdish Regional Government of Iraq (KRGI) is discussed in this paper. Aim of this paper is to analyze how economic cooperation caused cooperation in security issues such as fight against terrorism

    Machine learning approaches for the optimization of packing densities in granular matter.

    The fundamental question of how densely granular matter can pack and how this density depends on the shape of the constituent particles has been a longstanding scientific problem. Previous work has mainly focused on empirical approaches based on simulations or mean-field theory to investigate the effect of shape variation on the resulting packing densities, focusing on a small set of pre-defined shapes like dimers, ellipsoids, and spherocylinders. Here we discuss how machine learning methods can support the search for optimally dense packing shapes in a high-dimensional shape space. We apply dimensional reduction and regression techniques based on random forests and neural networks to find novel dense packing shapes by numerical optimization. Moreover, an investigation of the regression function in the dimensionally reduced shape representation allows us to identify directions in the packing density landscape that lead to a strongly non-monotonic variation of the packing density. The predictions obtained by machine learning are compared with packing simulations. Our approach can be more widely applied to optimize the properties of granular matter by varying the shape of its constituent particles

    Trps1 and Its Target Gene Sox9 Regulate Epithelial Proliferation in the Developing Hair Follicle and Are Associated with Hypertrichosis

    Hereditary hypertrichoses are a group of hair overgrowth syndromes that are extremely rare in humans. We have previously demonstrated that a position effect on TRPS1 is associated with hypertrichosis in humans and mice. To gain insight into the functional role of Trps1, we analyzed the late morphogenesis vibrissae phenotype of Trps1Δgt mutant mice, which is characterized by follicle degeneration after peg downgrowth has been initiated. We found that Trps1 directly represses expression of the hair follicle stem cell regulator Sox9 to control proliferation of the follicle epithelium. Furthermore, we identified a copy number variation upstream of SOX9 in a family with hypertrichosis that significantly decreases expression of the gene in the hair follicle, providing new insights into the long-range regulation of SOX9. Our findings uncover a novel transcriptional hierarchy that regulates epithelial proliferation in the developing hair follicle and contributes to the pathology of hypertrichosis

    Social Bioclimatic Urban House Prototype in Arid Area Energy and Economic Assessment

    The energetic and economic evaluation of an evolutionary bioclimatic social house prototype designed in the research unit, for urban arid zones, is presented, calculating their respective costs. The performance of passive systems is evaluated with the Optimix Program, using the Collector Load Rate Method (Los Álamos National Laboratory). The investment alternatives are adopted from the calculation from the Net Present and Marginal Value. The results quantify the use of passive solar systems to make more efficient the thermal and economic benefits of the executed prototypes. The winter thermal load, to which the homes are exposed, is reduced by 64.1%, with technics of energy conservation and the improvement of solar systems and variants applied. Energy savings result in 20% and 22% and the amortization of 2.4 years and 2.3 years, depending on the orientation of the prototype (azimuth 0° N and ± 15° N respectively.Fil: Kurban, Alejandra Silvia.
