Size distribution and composition of magnetic precipitates in amorphous Ni P alloy

    No full text
Primary crystallisation of Ni P particles in hypoeutectic Ni P amorphous alloy is investigated. Small angle scattering with polarized neutrons is used to find simultaneously the particle size distribution and the size dependence of the particle composition. The size distribution consists of a peak at particle radius of 1 nm and a tail spanning from 2 to 15 nm. The composition of the particles forming the peak decreases from 9 to 2 at P if their radii increase from 0.8 to 2 nm. The particles in the tail of the size distribution 2 15 nm have nearly constant P content in the range of 0 2 a

Small-angle scattering investigation of phase separation in glasses influenced by admixtures of TiO2, MoO3 and WO3

    No full text
Two silicate glasses with different compositions have been investigated by combining conventional small-angle X-ray scattering with methods of contrast variation (anomalous dispersion, neutron scattering). It has been shown that in a base glass for glass ceramics TiO2 additives which accelerate the process of phase separation are inhomogeneously distributed in the glass and cover the separating droplet phase. The influence of WO3 and MoO3 on the conditions of the phase separation in a soda-lime-silica glass mainly consists in a shift of the miscibility dome in the phase diagram up to higher temperatures
