Light-cone sum rules for the transitions for real photons
We examine the radiative transition at the real photon
point using the framework of light-cone QCD sum rules. In particular,
the sum rules for the transition form factors and are
determined up to twist 4. The result for agrees with experiment within
10% accuracy. The agreement for is also reasonable. In addition, we
derive new light-cone sum rules for the magnetic moments of nucleons, with a
complete account of twist-4 corrections based on a recent reanalysis of photon
distribution amplitudes.Comment: 34 pages, 9 figures, revised version, published in Phys. Rev. D, one

Threshold of microvascular occlusion: injury size defines the thrombosis scenario
Damage to the blood vessel triggers formation of a hemostatic plug, which is
meant to prevent bleeding, yet the same phenomenon may result in a total
blockade of a blood vessel by a thrombus, causing severe medical conditions.
Here, we show that the physical interplay between platelet adhesion and
hemodynamics in a microchannel manifests in a critical threshold behavior of a
growing thrombus. Depending on the size of injury, two distinct dynamic
pathways of thrombosis were found: the formation of a nonocclusive plug, if
injury length does not exceed the critical value, and the total occlusion of
the vessel by the thrombus otherwise. We develop a mathematical model that
demonstrates that switching between these regimes occurs as a result of a
saddle-node bifurcation. Our study reveals the mechanism of self-regulation of
thrombosis in blood microvessels and explains experimentally observed
distinctions between thrombi of different physical etiology. This also can be
useful for the design of platelet-aggregation-inspired engineering solutions.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures + Supplementary informatio
Generalized Density Matrix Revisited: Microscopic Approach to Collective Dynamics in Soft Spherical Nuclei
The generalized density matrix (GDM) method is used to calculate
microscopically the parameters of the collective Hamiltonian. Higher order
anharmonicities are obtained consistently with the lowest order results, the
mean field [Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) equation] and the harmonic potential
[quasiparticle random phase approximation (QRPA)]. The method is applied to
soft spherical nuclei, where the anharmonicities are essential for restoring
the stability of the system, as the harmonic potential becomes small or
negative. The approach is tested in three models of increasing complexity: the
Lipkin model, model with factorizable forces, and the quadrupole plus pairing
model.Comment: submitted to Physical Review C on 08 May, 201
Perturbation of a lattice spectral band by a nearby resonance
A soluble model of weakly coupled "molecular" and "nuclear" Hamiltonians is
studied in order to exhibit explicitly the mechanism leading to the enhancement
of fusion probability in case of a narrow near-threshold nuclear resonance. We,
further, consider molecular cells of this type being arranged in lattice
structures. It is shown that if the real part of the narrow nuclear resonance
lies within the molecular band generated by the intercellular interaction, an
enhancement, proportional to the inverse width of the nuclear resonance, is to
be expected.Comment: RevTeX, 2 figures within the file. In May 2000 the title changed and

More on the Tensor Response of the QCD Vacuum to an External Magnetic Field
In this Letter we discuss a few issues concerning the magnetic susceptibility
of the quark condensate and the Son-Yamamoto (SY) anomaly matching equation. It
is shown that the SY relation in the IR implies a nontrivial interplay between
the kinetic and WZW terms in the chiral Lagrangian. It is also demonstrated
that in a holographic framework an external magnetic field triggers mixing
between scalar and tensor fields. Accounting for this, one may calculate the
magnetic susceptibility of the quark condensate to all orders in the magnetic
field.Comment: 20 pages, 2 figure
Twist-2 Light-Cone Pion Wave Function
We present an analysis of the existing constraints for the twist-2 light-cone
pion wave function. We find that existing information on the pion wave function
does not exclude the possibility that the pion wave function attains its
asymptotic form. New bounds on the parameters of the pion wave function are
presented.Comment: 7 pages, LaTeX, 1 PS-figure, one reference added, minor changes in
