    The measurements of electroweak sector of the Standard Model are presented, including most recent results from LEP, Tevatron and HERA colliders. The robustness of the Standard Model is illustrated with the precision measurements, the electroweak fits and the comparisons to the results obtained from low energy experiments.     Research conducted in the field of plant physiology aimed at monitoring physiological reactions under the influence of climatic and agrotechnical factors. Agrotechnical factors can lead in order to increase photosynthetic efficiency, which influence qualitative and quantitative the production of pepper grown on sandy soils. The methods used to protect contributed to achieving a different microclimate, with positive impact both on plant metabolism and the earliness and high production compared to control plants unprotected. The amount of water in the leaves recorded values between 84% at plants protected with mulch and 88% at plants protected with Agryl. The dried substance hasregistered values between 12% at plants protected with Agryl and 16% at plants protected with mulch. At plants protected with Agrylis ensuredan aeration and circulation of air currents, maintaining a maximum foliar humidity. The rate of photosynthesis in April registered high values at the protected plants, compared with the unprotected plants. Foliar hydration registered high values due to rainfalls, which ensured a good supply of water at this stage of vegetation. Leaf transpiration rate recorded high values in May at 12 o'clock, ranging from 7,41 to 11,84 mmol H2O/m2/s, pepper being a plant that consumes a large amount of water

    Broken-Symmetry Unrestricted Hybrid Density Functional Calculations on Nickel Dimer and Nickel Hydride

    In the present work we investigate the adequacy of broken-symmetry unrestricted density functional theory (DFT) for constructing the potential energy curve of nickel dimer and nickel hydride, as a model for larger bare and hydrogenated nickel cluster calculations. We use three hybrid functionals: the popular B3LYP, Becke's newest optimized functional Becke98, and the simple FSLYP functional (50% Hartree-Fock and 50% Slater exchange and LYP gradient-corrected correlation functional) with two basis sets: all-electron (AE) Wachters+f basis set and Stuttgart RSC effective core potential (ECP) and basis set. We find that, overall, the best agreement with experiment, comparable to that of the high-level CASPT2, is obtained with B3LYP/AE, closely followed by Becke98/AE and Becke98/ECP. FSLYP/AE and B3LYP/ECP give slightly worse agreement with experiment, and FSLYP/ECP is the only method among the ones we studied that gives an unaceptably large error, underestimating the dissociation energy of nickel dimer by 28%, and being in the largest disagreement with the experiment and the other theoretical predictions.Comment: 17 pages, 7 tables, 7 figures; submitted to J.     Pheochromocytoma – clinical manifestations, diagnosis and current perioperative management

    Pheochromocytoma is a neuroendocrine tumor characterized by the excessive production of catecholamines (epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine). The diagnosis is suspected due to hypertensive paroxysms, associated with vegetative phenomena, due to the catecholaminergic hypersecretion. Diagnosis involves biochemical tests that reveal elevated levels of catecholamine metabolites (metanephrine and normetanephrine). Functional imaging, such as 123I-metaiodobenzylguanidine scintigraphy (123I-MIBG), has increased specificity in identifying the catecholamine-producing tumor and its metastases. The gold-standard treatment for patients with pheochromocytoma is represented by the surgical removal of the tumor. Before surgical resection, it is important to optimize blood pressure and intravascular volume in order to avoid negative hemodynamic events

    Cervical, endometrial, ovarian, vulvar, and vaginal cancers affect women of a broad age spectrum. Many of these women are still sexually active when their cancer is diagnosed. Treatment options for gynecological malignancies, such as gynecological surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, are proven risk factors for pelvic floor dysfunction. The prevalence of urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, and sexual dysfunction before cancer treatment is still unclear. Hypotheses have been raised in the literature that these manifestations could represent early symptoms of pelvic cancers, but most remain overlooked even in cancer surviving patients. The primary focus of therapy is always cancer eradication, but as oncological and surgical treatment options become more successful, the number of cancer survivors increases. The quality of life of patients with gynecological cancers often remains an underrated subject. Pelvic floor disorders are not consistently reported by patients and are frequently overlooked by many clinicians. In this brief review we discuss the importance of pelvic floor dysfunction in patients with gynecological malignant tumors

    The temperature dependence of hysteretic processes in Co nanowires arrays

    In this paper, the temperature dependence of the hysteretic processes of Co nanowires, squarelly ordered in an array prepared by electrodeposition in nanopores of alumina membranes was analyzed. Both the magnetostatic interactions induced in the nanowires arrays and the thermal stresses (radial, azimuthal and axial stresses), which appear during the cooling of the system (nanowire and alumina template) from room temperature to 3 K was evaluated. The analysis of thermal induced stresses provides useful informations concerning the magnetic anisotropy in the Co nanowires. The temperature dependence of the remanent magnetization and coercitive field as an effect of the induced thermal stresses and magnetostatic interactions between nanowires was studied
