Current challenges for future engineers

Society is facing big challenges due to an exhaustive and increasing consumption of valuable resources and a misuse of high quality energy. Global warming, water scarcity, plastic gyres and, accumulation of micropollutants in the environment are severe consequences that lead to an increase in poverty and inequality. Technological innovation and societal transformation are essential to find a respectful way of living, and young engineers are the key to find the equilibrium in a changing environment. In this presentation, global challenges will be presented together with the current alternatives and solutions that are on the table. Some critical points of discussion will be highlighted
