Development of Rapid Manufacturing Process by Machining with Automatic Filling
In order to reduce the lead-time and cost, recently the technology of rapid protoyping and manufacturing(RPM)has been widely used. Machining process is still considered as one of the effective RPM methods that have been developed and currently available in the industry. It also offers practical advantages such as precision and versatility. Some considerations are still required during the machining process. One of the most important points is fixturing. There should be an effective method of fixturing since the fixturing time depends on the complexity of geometry of the part to be machined. In this paper, the rapid manufacturing process has been developed combining machining with automatic filling. The proposed fixturing technique using automatic filling can be widely applicable to free surface type of product such as a fan. In the filling stage, remeltable material is chosen for the filling process. An automatic set-up device attachable to the table of the machine has also been developed. The device ensures the quality during a series of machining operations. This proposed process has shown to be a useful method to manufacture the required products with the reduced the response-time and cost
Development of Automatic Filling Process using Low-Melting Point Metal for Rapid Manufacturing with Machining Process
Recently, the life cycle and the lead-time of a product are to be shortened in order to satisfy consumers demand. It is thus important to reduce the time and cost in manufacturing trial products. Several technique have been developed and successfully commercialized in the market of RPM(Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing). However, most commercial systems currently use resins or waxes as the raw materials. So, the limited mechanical strength for functional testing is regarded as an obstacle towards broader application of rapid prototyping techniques. To overcome these problems, high-speed machining technology is being investigated worldwide for rapid manufacturing and even for direct rapid tooling application. In this paper, some fundamental experiments and analyses are carried out to obtain the filling time, materials, method, and process parameters for HisRP(High-Speed RP) process. HisRP is a new RP process that is combined high-speed machining with automatic filling. In filling process, Bi58-Sn alloy is chosen as filling material because of the properties of low-melting point, low coefficient of thermal expansion and no harm to environment. Also the use of filling wire it if advantage since it needs simple and flexible mechanism. Then the rapid product, for example a skull, is manufactured for aluminum material by HisRP process with an automatic set-up device thor 4-faces machining

Fabrication and characterization of resistive double square loop arrays for ultra-wide bandwidth microwave absorption
Microwave absorbers using conductive ink are generally fabricated by printing an array pattern on a substrate to generate electromagnetic fields. However, screen printing processes are difficult to vary the sheet resistance values for different regions of the pattern on the same layer, because the printing process deposits materials at the same height over the entire surface of substrate. In this study, a promising manufacturing process was suggested for engraved resistive double square loop arrays with ultra-wide bandwidth microwave. The developed manufacturing process consists of a micro-end-milling, inking, and planing processes. A 144-number of double square loop array was precisely machined on a polymethyl methacrylate workpiece with the micro-end-milling process. After engraving array structures, the machined surface was completely covered with the developed conductive carbon ink with a sheet resistance of 15 Ω/sq. It was cured at room temperature. Excluding the ink that filled the machined double square loop array, overflowed ink was removed with the planing process to achieve full filled and isolated resistive array patterns. The fabricated microwave absorber showed a small radar cross-section with reflectance less than ??10 dB in the frequency band range of 8.0?14.6 GHz
Evaluation of the Curvature Reliability of Polymer Flexible Meta Electronic Devices based on Variations of the Electrical Properties
from the devices are increasing. One of the most commonly used electromagnetic wave control materials is magnetic one,but due to the features that make the product heavy and thick when applied to the product, it is difficult to use them in
curved electronic devices. Therefore, a polymer flexible meta electronic device has been presented to sort out the problem, which is thin and can have various curvatures. However, it requires an additional evaluation of curvature reliability. In this study, we developed a method to predict electromagnetic wave control characteristics through the resistance/length of the conductive ink line patterns of polymer flexible meta electronic devices, which is inversely proportional to the electromagnetic wave control characteristics. As the radius of curvature decreased, the resistance/length increased, and there was little variations with the duration times of curvature. We also found that both permanent and recoverable changes along with the removal of curvature were occurred when the curvature was applied, and that the cause of these changes was newly created vertical cracks in the conductive ink line pattern due to the tensile stress applied by applying curvature
