LED 백라이팅을 위한 PWM 공진형 고승압 DC/DC 컨버터
본 논문에서 coupled inductor를 이용한 새로운 고승압비 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안하는 컨버터는 스위치 전압 스트레스를 낮게 가져갈 수 있고 출력 다이오드 전압 스트레스도 출력 전압으로 제한된다. 추가적으로 공진 탱크의 최적 설계를 통해 스위치 턴 오프 손실을 저감시킬 수 있다. 기본적인 동작원리 및 특성을 좀더 자세하게 다루고, 실험 결과를 통해 제안하는 컨버터의 효용성을 보인다

Chlorella vulgaris에 의한 카드뮴 및 아연의 흡착에 관한 연구
학위논문(석사) - 한국과학기술원 : 생명과학과, 1993.2, [ vi, 53 p. ]The ability of algae to accumulate heavy metals from the surrounding environments is a widely recognized phenomenon that has a number of important implications. The metal binding characteristics of Chlorella vulgaris were investigated. Metal uptake by intact algal cells was found to consist of two processes ; (1) a fast, metabolism-independent surface reaction and (2) metabolism-dependent slow uptake. The effect of environmental variables on cadmium and zinc uptake was examined, and a striking pH effect for bioaccumulation was observed with metal adsorption being exerted an influence on by ionic strength in some degree. These results suggested that an ion-exchange mechanism accounts for the majority of metal adsorption. Equilibrium parameters governing the metal adsorption process were obtained by Scatchard analysis of both the cadmium and zine binding data. Carboxyl groups and aming groups of Chlorella vulgaris were modified for understanding of the effect of these fuctional groups on metal binding. Carboxyl-modified algae ahowed major decreases in Cd and Zn binding. Amine-modified algae also displayed some decreases in both metal adsorption, however, as exceeding a certain extent, the acetylation of amine groups increased metal uptake on the contrary. These results indicate that carboxyl groups on algal cells are responsible for a great portion of Cd and Zn binding, and that amine groups play auxiliary role as well.한국과학기술원 : 생명과학과
셀레늄에 의한 인간 미분화 골수암 (HL-60) 세포의 세포 예정사 유도
학위논문(박사) - 한국과학기술원 : 생물과학과, 1998.8, [ ix, 108 p. ]Cytotoxicity and apoptosis mediated by selenium were investigated in human promyelocytic leukemia (HL-60) cells. Treatment of selenite or selenodiglutathione (SDG), an initial metabolite of selenite, resulted in concentration-dependent cytotoxicity, measured by lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) leakage assay for detection of membrane damage, and by tetrazolium salt reduction assay reflecting mitochondrial function within the cell. Treatment with selenite or SDG also induced apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner, as detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) specific for histone-associated DNA fragments, DNA fragmentation assay, and gel electrophoresis. SDG exerted more potent effect on the induction of apoptosis and cytotoxicity. Time-course study of cellular selenium uptake suggests that the stronger effect of SDG is largely due to faster and greater selenium uptake rate. The activity of poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase (PARP) was increased preceding DNA fragmentation, suggesting an involvement of PARP in selenium-mediated apoptosis. The dose-response data of apoptosis induced by selenite or SDG were similar to those of cytotoxicity, implicating a relationship between the induction of apoptosis and cytotoxicity. Zn, an inhibitor of apoptosis, dose-dependently blocked not only the induction of apoptosis, but also the membrane damage induced by selenium, corroborating this hypothesis. It was noted that the inhibition of apoptosis by Zn exerted little protective effect on cytotoxicity at higher concentrations of selenium, compared with a perfect protective effect at low concentration of selenium. These results suggest that cytotoxicity induced by selenium may be partially correlated with apoptosis. Treatment with cyanide, a specific trapper of SDG, was effective to reduce cytotoxicity and apoptosis induced by selenite or SDG in a dose dependent manner. Along with it, there are over three to five hundred million IT trash being dumped. Hidden toxin from the tech trash causes severe environmental pollution and this has become an arising matter. European developed countries have published a RoHS directive forbidding the usage of noxious materials. They will refuse to import the products which do not comply with the platform as a means to suppress the companies which use them.
RoHS has brought a great change in the production of electronics. LCT TV, for instance, has been us-ing mercury to enhance the light efficiency for a must-have component, fluorescent lamp type backlight. However, its usage is limited under the directive of RoHS. Thus, LCD companies are granted a grace period and embark upon the development of environmentally-friendly LCD. As a result, fluorescent lamp backlight is being replaced by LED backlight. LED backlight is an eco and a semiconductor device whose life-span is longer than fluorescent type. Since LED backlight is produced through the assembly of spread point light sys-tem, light source will have its freedom when positioning, enabling 0D, 1D, 2D dimming. LCD TV with so many benefits has brought a huge change to this market. LCD TV which used LED backlight is now called LCD TV and has been differentiated. In 2012, LCT TV with fluorescent lamp is taking over 50% of the TV market and within five years it is expected to take over 90% of it.
Many LED TV system related research, especially ways to reduce power consumption are being con-ducted. First, power consumption was reduced through backlight dimming method. It is clear that the conven-tional system which does not use backlight dimming lose a great deal of energy. In order to show a dark im-age, backlight is on bright, and with the information from the image, the transmittance of liquid crystal is then adjusted to determine the brightness of the pixels.
