The Ethnic Differences and the Ethnic Discrimination seen through Dropouts of Secondary Students during the Japanese Colonial Period: based on the Analysis of Secondary Commercial School Student Register
This research aimed to clarify how ethnic discrimination in the Korean-Japanese co-ed secondary commercial schools during the Japanese colonial period was routinely forced. First of all, I macroscopically confirmed the dropout trend of the whole secondary school by utilizing nationwide statistical data. Secondly, I carried out a micro-case analysis through various kinds of materials that have not been utilized so far, such school register. Thirdly, I distinguished ethnic differences and ethnic discrimination, and clarified the mechanism of ethnic discrimination more clearly.
The key results of this study are as follows:
Secondary commercial schools in the Japanese colonial period were Korean-Japanese co-ed schools where legal and institutional discrimination hardly took place. However, they were spaces where various non-legal and non-institutional ethnic discrimination was enforced or raised. As a result, Korean students had been influenced by factual ethnic discrimination prescribed by the structure of political and economic inequality in the colonial society. And it was impossible for Korean students to avoid customary ethnic discrimination by school authorities and Japanese teachers on a daily basis.
In this respect, the issue of ethnic discrimination in the Japanese colonial era was not only legal and institutional discrimination but also factual and customary ethnic discrimination. And it was a matter of the structure of the political and economic inequality of the colonial society which is the root cause of making factual and customary ethnic discrimination on a daily basis as well as legal and institutional ethnic discrimination.본 연구는 2016년도 가톨릭대학교 교비연구비의 지원으로 이루어졌음

The colonial society of Japanese Imperialism was a historical site where interests of class, region and nation worked out mutually. Therefore national interest was not a decisive factor which had an absolute influence on everyday life of Korean people. In this paper, 1 attempted to highlight how local gentry in the commercial port town Ganggyeong(江景) had endeavored to grow in this colonial situation. Local gentry behaved pragmatically in the face of multi-layered interests. They acquired a political status through pro-Japanese collaboration, and attained social fame from Korean people by social movements such as regional development movement and mass enlightenment campaign, etc. Also, they achieved economic growth dynamically by defending their own markets, or developing new markets, or receiving modem technology. But the acquaintance of political status & social fame, and economic growth had basic limits because of the colonial environment in which discrimination between Korean people and Japanese colonist was frequently made, aside from the difference between Korea and Japan in the sphere of capital. modern technology and soda! organization. At times, these circumstances made local gentry have a feeling of powerlessness and discontent in the social and economic activity. Consequently, national interest functioned not absolutely but relatively, as one of the most important factors which gave a serious impact on the growth of local gentry
The Course after Graduation of Secondary School Students before and after the 1945 Liberation : Focusing on the Ethnic Discrimination and the Human Heritage of the Colonial Period
This article took notice the characteristics, before and after the 1945 liberation, which was appeared in the course of the Ganggyeong(江景) commercial secondary school graduates who were Korean and Japanese trained together under the same environment and system during the Japanese occupation period. What I found out could be summarized as follows:
First of all, there was a symmetrical difference between Korean and Japanese in the course after graduation. In the second, ethnic discrimination and preferential treatment through personal connections exerted influence of the process of competition for getting a job. In the third, Korean graduates getting an attractive job increased and a few of Korean graduates began to move up from working-level positions to middleadministrative positions during the end of the Japanese occupation period. But there was no change in the structure of the colonialist hierarchy that the Japanese secured superior administrations while the Koreans remained in the lower personnels. Lastly, Korean graduates began to moved up to superior administrators in full scale after the 1945 liberation of Korea from the Japanese Imperialism.이 논문은 2008년 정부(교육과학기술부)의 재원으로 한국학술진흥재단의 지원을 받아 수행된 연구임(KRF-2008-327-A00069)
Method for preparing recombinant glycoproteins with highcontent of sialic acid

Synthesis and Reactions of 2-Chlorohexafluorocyclopentenyl Zinc and Copper Reagent 1-Chloro-2-iodohexafluorocyclopentene reacted with activated zinc powder in DMF solvent at room temperature to give 2-chloro-hexafluorocyclopentenyl zinc reagent in 96\% yield. Treatment of this organozinc reagent with cuprous bromide at room temperature for one hour provided a simple route to the 2-chlorohexafluorocyclopentenyl copper reagent in quantitative yield. 2-Chlorohexafluorocyclopentenyl copper reagent exhibited good thermal stability at room temperature in the absence of oxygen and/or moisture and formed a wide variety of new carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bonds via reactions with alkyl halides, vinyl halides, acyl halides, and heteroatomic halides. Alkylation and coupling reactions of this organocopper reagent were performed, and the reaction of this organocopper reagent with acyl halides and heteroatomic halides gave the previously inaccessible substituted polyfluorocyclopentene derivatives. II. Reaction of 1-Chlorohexafluorocyclopentene Derivatives with Various Nucleophiles 1-Acetyl-2-chloro-, 1-benzoyl-2-chloro-, and 1-chloro-2-p-nitrophenylhexafluorocyclopentene were prepared by the reaction of 2-chlorohexafluorocyclopentenyl copper reagent with acetyl chloride, benzoyl chloride, and pnitroiodobenzene, respectively. These compounds contain not only highly activated double bonds but also charge stabilizing groups in vinylic position. These compounds reacted readily with alkoxide, amine, and phosphite to undergo interesting nucleophilic displacement reactions of vinylic chlorine without allylic rearrangement. In reaction of 1-acetyl-and 1-benzoyl-2-chlorohexafluorocy-clopentene with Grignard reagent, nucleophilic attack occurred at the carbonyl carbon rather than at the beta-carbon to give tertiary alcohol product.한국과학기술원 : 화학과
