    Get PDF
Purpose: This study aimed to provide information on the developmental process and current status of Advanced Practice Nurses (APN) and to suggest ways for activating APN roles in Korea. Methods: We reviewed literatures to explore domestic and international trends related to the roles, practice settings, scope of practice, regulatory policies, and political environment of APN. Results: Interest in the APN role has been gaining ground worldwide. While the roles of APN in the USA, Taiwan and Japan have been changed in terms of legislation and institutional regulations, the role of APN in 12 fields except for APN in home care has not been legislated since qualification was specified in Korean Medical Law. Many problems were found in vitalizing APN roles: absence of legal regulations on the scope of practice or health insurance coverage for APN, increase the number of medical support staffs who are not qualified, and a disagreement regarding the qualification field and practical field. Conclusion: This study presents snapshots and vitalizing strategies of practice, and regulation for APN to develop their unique roles in Korea. The tasks and duties of APN should be identified specifically to fulfill their roles. In terms of national health insurance policy APNs Nursing care should be reimbursed just as nursing care of APN in home care

Purpose: To identify research trends in the Journal of Muscle and Joint Health. Methods: In total, 315 studies publishedbetween 2008 and 2020 in the Journal of Muscle and Joint Health were reviewed using analysis criteria developed bythe authors Results: Most participants were adults or older adults, they mostly had arthritis. The types of research designwere descriptive research (46.4%), quasi-experimental design (21.9%), randomized controlled trial (1.9%), andqualitative research (4.1%). The occupation of most authors was professor in universities (61.0%). Data were collectedmostly in hospitals (41.6%) or communities (24.4%) using a questionnaire (52.4%). Written consent was obtained at75.6% and 47.9% of studies were approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB). The instruments measuring physicalconcepts such as pain, flexibility, sense of balance and fatigue were mostly used. The most common interventions inexperimental studies were physical interventions, with the main being exercise. Key words were categorized into fournursing meta-paradigms: human, health, environment and nursing. The most frequently reported key words wereincluded in the health domain. The most frequently used key words were physical intervention, older patient, osteoarthritis, pain and depression. Conclusion: The results suggest that more research studies targeting various age groups relatedto muscle and joint health are required. Additionally there is a need to increase the number of qualitative studies, randomized experimental studies, and systematic review studies. It is necessary to pay attention to compliance withresearch ethics publication regulations.N

Purpose: This study was conducted to update nursing practice guidelines for intravenous infusion published in 2017. Methods: The guideline update process was carried out using 22 steps developed by NICE and SIGN. It was agreed to update domains related to central venous infusion therapy. Contents related to peripheral infusion would be updated later. Results: Updated guidelines for central venous infusion therapy consisted of 6 domains and 195 recommendations. The number of recommendations by domain was 11 for general instruction, 14 for central vascular access devices (CVAD) and add-on devices, 13 for nursing management before insertion of CVAD, 30 for management during insertion of CVAD, 51 for management after insertion of CVAD, and 76 for complications. A grade was 29 (14.9%), B grade was 87 (44.6%), and C grade was 79(40.5%) in the strength of recommendations. A total of 37 (19.0%) recommendations were newly developed and 23 (12.3%) previous recommendations have been modified. The newly developed recommendations were mainly related to the infection control methods. Conclusion: The updated guideline is focused on safe maintenance of central venous infusion therapy. Through this guideline, it is hoped to minimize the occurrence of complications and improve the standardization and efficiency of nursing practice

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a theory describing the experiences of psychosocial adjustment (process) among the recipients of pancreas transplantation in Korea. Methods: Data were collected by individual in-depth interviews with nine recipients of pancreas transplantation during 2010-2011. The data were transcribed and analyzed using grounded theory method to identify psychosocial adjustment process. Results: As a result of constant comparative analysis, "Pursuing ordinary life to free fromrestraints of diabetes" emerged as the core category. Five stages emerged: 1) Temporal liberation and satisfaction; 2) Disappointing with regrets and anger; 3) Facing up to the reality to be thankful; 4) Executing self-initiated management; and 5) Peaceful acceptance of reality as it is. "Excessive expectation" and "social support" are other categories that influenced the process. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that health professionals need to provide tailored and balanced information to recipients of pancreas transplantation both before and after the transplantation to relieve psychosocial distress after the transplantation.- 본 연구는 대한질적연구학회 연구비의 지원으로 수행되었음 - This research was supported by the Korean Association for Qualitative Research in NursingOAIID:RECH_ACHV_DSTSH_NO:T201619963RECH_ACHV_FG:RR00200001ADJUST_YN:EMP_ID:A003229CITE_RATE:0DEPT_NM:간호학과EMAIL:[email protected]_YN:NCONFIRM:

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the experiences and needs for healthcare and daily life support services in community-dwelling elders living alone. Methods: A focus group interviewing approach was adopted for this study. From November 13 to 14, 2018, three focus groups with a total of 22 elders living alone were interviewed using semi-structured research questions. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Results: From the analysis, three main themes and six sub-themes emerged. One main theme was complaints about lack of information. Another theme was pros and cons of service experiences. The other theme was needs for recipient-centered services. Conclusion: The findings of the study provide deep understanding on the experiences of healthcare and daily life support services for elders living alone. Healthcare providers should be aware of these experiences and the needs of elders living alone when they develop elder-tailored integrative programs.N
