    A Study on the Development of Modules to Enhance the Adaptability on board as Navigator

    There are frequent cases where navigators(deck officer) are unable to easily adapt to the shipโ€™s scene for example early disembarkation, or experience conflicts among the members of ship in a situation where navigator have to familiar to the rapidly changing shipping environment, such as the ultra-largest ships, newly high tech facilities and equipments, and the demand for quick response to various new regulations or convention, etc. In order to improve this adaptability problem, maritime industry and institutions have recently been reviewing about how to respond with a focus on improving humanities skills(communicaton, teamwork, leadership etc.) and perceptions(self awareness), such as differences between generations or individuals. This study is different from the above points of view, first of all, to find out through gap analysis why the conflict happened between the required competency by senior officer and the job ability of junior officer. Therefore to solve this problem, I will design and propose an shipboard training platform between ships and shore based, develop learning modules and detailed contents for each rank of navigator to support them. Main concept of the mentioned Shipboard Training platform is a skill based training on board with the well experienced & trained senior officer. and also important matters are the systematic support and innovative activation method from shore(company /staff) such as providing the most practical contents and wonderful incentives for an excellent result in near future.
