This study looked into social and intellectual capital for improving the job performance of workers in the area of public welfare. Network, trust, and norms were used to measure social capital while structural capital and customer capital are used to measure intellectual capital. In particular, this study looked at intellectual capital as a mediating variable for improving job performance in managing organizations. Network and trust were found to have positive effects on structural and customer capital but no significant relationship was found between norm and structural capital, though norms were found to have had a positive effect on customer capital. In short, network and trust showed significant positive effects on job performance via structural capital but not from norms. From these results it is argued that the social capital and intellectual capital of organizations should be recognized and promoted to improve the job performance of welfare professionals
