19세기 조선의 러시아 인식과 문호개방론

이 글은 조선후기 서양인식의 심화과정에서 자생적으로 배태된 대외 문호개방의 논의가 어떠한 정치사상적 배경에서 형성되고 변화, 발전되어 나갔는가 하는 문제를 해결하기 위한 하나의 방법론으로서 시도되었다. 또한 대한제국기 고종의 자주외교 노선이 입각하고 있던 만국공법과 세력균형론이 1870년대 이래 서양열강에 대한 인식의 변화에 힘입은 바 크다는 사실에 주목하고, 그중에서도 특히 청일전쟁 후 일제의 세력팽창을 삼국간섭으로 저지해주었던 러시아에 대한 인식이 17세기부터 19세기까지 어떻게 변화되어 가는가 하는 점에 연구의 촛점을 두었다
