The GIS Standardization of Road features

Spital data standardization is important in GIS because it is key element of the data process. GIS data standard must be established before spatial data exchange can proceed freely. Especially, standardization of road features which are the most essential data is urgent. This study surveyed GIS data standard and checked status of GIS standardization in Korea and advanced countries. Second, this study proposed GIS data standard profile code sysetm on road features. The code system for road and facility management was made through defining and classifying road features in order. Important geographic features were assigned to spatial data layers and attribute of each layer was classified in code system. Distinction between layers and attributes was more efficient to process many data in GIS analysis than no distinction. This code system classified road features mainly into road(1l), road facility(12), road possession(13), road site(14), road transport(15) for road management and facility management. The code of each feature layer consist of Alphanumeric code(four figures). It is considered with compactness, efficiency, extensibility. Attribute codes for each feature layer was designed separately. The followings are differences between this standard profile and 'the standard rule of making digital map' as proposed Korean GIS data standard. First, this standard profile was designed not for making digital map but for GIS application. 'the standard rule of making digital map' was not suitable GIS application basically. Second, the code system was classified in detail for large scale( 1/500 ) which is fit to urban GIS application and Facility Management

A Study on the Temporal Element in Geographic Information Systenl - A Case of Land Price Variation Analysis in Anyang city, Korea -

모든 지리 사상(地理 事象;geographic feature)과 인간의 활동은 공간적 차원(spatiality)과 시간적 차원(temporality)으로 구분되는데, 공간에서의 지리 사상과 인간 활동의 변화는 시간의 흐름 속에 기록된다. 그러므로 이를 체계적으로 연구하기 위해서는 공간적 특성과 시간적 특성을 통합적으로 분석하고 표현할 수 있는 방법이 필요한 것이다. 이에 이 연구에서는 지가 변동과 같은 지리적 현상의 시공간적 차원을 통합적으로 분석할 수 있도록 지리정보시스템의 시간요소에 대한 연구를 목적으로 하여, 지가 변동 분석을 사례로 모델을 설계하고 구현하며 지가의 시공간적인 통합 분석을 시도하였다. 이를 위하여 이 연구에서는 문헌 연구를 통하여 지가 변동 분석과 Temporal GIS의 연계 가능성에 대해 탐색하였고, 실험적 차원에서 구체적인 지역을 대상으로 시공간적으로 통합 분석이 가능한 지가 변동 분석 모델을 설계하고 구현하였다. Characteristics and patterns of geographic features and human activities can be interpreted in terms of spatiality and temporality. The necessity to record the historical changes the ability to reason in the real world has lead to a new field of research so called Integrated Spatio-Temporal Analysis. This study puts on emphasis the temporal element in GIS. A prototype is developed for the integrated spatio-temporal model of land price variation analysis in Anyang city, Korea on the practical level. This study examines suitable data models for temporal maps, which are integrated visualizing spatiality and temporality about spaito-temporal appearance of land price variation analysis through literature reviews of recent research within the community of Geographical Information Systems and Land price analysis
