    No full text
The National Geographic Information System (NGIS) is a multi0purpose geographic information system designed to integrate various geographic data sets collected among several government agencies. The system will serve as an important decision making tool for a number of issues such as natural resources management, land-use planning, and the like. The NGIS will be configured with recent development of computer network and relational database management software. From the viewpoint of data sharing and redundancy, the structure of distributed database management system is more efficient than that of stand alone system which was usually equipped by each government agency. The content of database is mainly made up of 7 data bases. They are 1. Base Map database, 2. Socio-Economic database, 3. Land Record database, 4. Transportation database, 5. Facility & Utility database, 6. Natural Resources and Ecology database, and 7. Environmental Pollution and Natural Hazard database. The scheme for NGIS should be different from any other agencies'. The NGIS scheme will only be feasible when it is carried out by a National Geographic Information System Committee which has sufficient power and budget.
