Sales Forecasting of Competing Durable Products : The Impact of Market Response and Replacement Demand
The importance of marketing mix variables, replacement demand, and competition in a new product growth model has been cited by many researchers. In this paper, these factors are integrated with an aim to model company sales of competing durables. Based on the most popular new product growth model, numerous extensions and incorporations of contributions from related research fields are tried. Model parameters are estimated by the Kalman filter. And, the proposed model is applied to the sales of four consumer durable goods. Empirical applications show the benefits, as well as the limitations of the proposed model

학위논문(석사) - 한국과학기술원 : 산업공학과, 1988.2, [ ii, 49 p. ]In this thesis a problem of optimal stocking by excess inventory sales and lot-sizing is considered for a single deteriorating item which is stored at two distinctly different warehouses such as ordinary and special ones.
Both the infinite and the finite horizon models are analyzed, in which the deterioration is assumed to be a constant fraction of the on-hand inventory. Both the models assume instantaneous delivery and do not allow any shortage. An ordinary warehouse with abundant capacity is employed to store the excess units over the capacity of a special warehouse. The special warehouse is assumed to charge a higher unit holding cost than the ordinary warehouse. The special warehouse capacity is then determined in its upper bound.
The optimal inventory amount to be retained out of the excess units and the optimal lot-size are finally determined. Numerical examples are presented.한국과학기술원 : 산업공학과

학위논문(박사) - 한국과학기술원 : 산업공학과, 1995.8, [ vii, 144 p. ]This thesis considers three different models of configuring telecommunication networks.
The first model considers a problem of configuring logical networks by employing a self-planning facility in a telecommunication network carrying voice-grade calls to make a least cost configuration where the involved system cost includes hop cost and lost-call traffic cost. The hop cost depends on the number of self-planning facilities included on the routing path connecting the associated node pairs, while the lost-call traffic cost is incurred due to link capacities. The configuration problem is analyzed through dimensioning and routing on a reconfigurable network in a mixed 0/1 non-linear programming approach for which lower bounds are found by Lagrangean relaxation embedded in a hybrid search procedure for the associated dual problem. Heuristic solution procedures are exploited and their efficiencies are tested with various numerical examples.
The second model considers a problem of logical configuration in reconfigurable VCDN (Virtual Circuit Data Networks) which is analyzed through a mimimax approach, and its objective is to minimize the largest delay on any logical link, measured in both queueing delay and propagation delay. The problem is formulated as a 0/1 mixed integer programming and analyzed by decomposing it into two subproblems, called routing and dimensioning problems, for which an efficient heuristic algorithm is proposed in an iterating process made between the two subproblems for solution improvement. The algorithm is tested for its performance evaluation.
The last model is concerned with a base station allocation problem with respect to both interference-to-signal ratio and facility cost in a reconfigurable mobile radio network, where DCS``s are incorporated as a backbone. For the allocation problem, a hybrid solution procedure is developed based on Lagrangian relaxation method. The solution procedure is tested with large scale examples for its efficienc...한국과학기술원 : 산업공학과

Evaluation of joint involvement by the use of radionuclide bone scan in the patients with rheumatoid arthritis
To evaluate the joint involvement by the use of
radionuclide bone scan in the patients with rheumatoid
arthritis, we performed OOmTc-MDP bone scan,
radiography and physical examination of joints in 20
patients confirmed as rheumatoid arthritis and compared
three methods each other.
The observed results are as follows.
1. The sensitivity and specificity of bone scan
based on physical examination are 71% and 62%
respectively.
2. The sensitivity and specificity of radiography
based on physical examination are 3096 and 96?6
respectively.
It may conclude that bone scan is very sensitive
in evaluation of joint involvement in rheumatoid
arthritis and correlates with physical examinations
very well
