This paper starts with a critical review of Krashens Monitor Hypothesis and proceeds to reaffirm the practical values of pedagogical grammar in the teaching/learning of a foreign language. Under the assumption that the criteria for pedagogical grammar for foreign language learners is not theoretical purity but practical effect, this paper also discusses the applicability of recent developments of linguistics to pedagogical grammar.이 논문은 1988년도 문교부 학술연구 조성비에 의하여 쓰여졌음
