Resources enhancement for marine ranching in Korea

Preparation of fishing ground to enhance fish stocks is one of the most important sectors in marine ranching porgram, and ecological characteristics of target species should be considered in preparation of the ground. Scope of the Study for the enhancement at marine ranching area involved Seed production and evaluation for the artificial stocking, seed releasing and evaluation, techniques for hydroacostics acclimation, nursing techniques of target fishes and ecology and behavioral pattern of target fish. In Tongyeong marine ranching program, main target fish species were Sebastes inermis and S. schlegeli which distribute rocky shore of the coast of Korea. For the settlement of these species new artificial reefs were designed and placed at the marine ranching area.1

바다목장은 자연생태계의 조성을 포함하여 자원의 방류로부터 어획에 이르기까지 인위적으로 통제하고 관리하는 어업생산시스템이라 할 수 있다. 따라서 종전의 어로어업, 양식어업 및 자원조성을 통한 자원이용, 관리방법과 비교하여 보면 자연생태계를 적극적으로 보전하면서 어업생산 및 어업경영을 영속적으로 안정시키는 것이라고 할 수 있다.2
