[์˜๋ฌธ]Public Hospitals established by the Korean Government were undergone incorporation as the Local public corporation medical center. The purpose of this incorporation was to improve efficiency of management and quality of medicine due to the serious financial deterioration impaling the role of its service popuration. This study was conducted to understand and evaluate how the local public corporation program affected financial performances of the public hospitals. In attempt to identify these findings, the study employed "Time series design". The data were collected from the local financing section of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the health section of the provincial, and five of six local public corporation medical centers in the Kang-won Provinces. There are 31 local public corporation medical canters in Korea. The five local public corporation medical centers in Kang-won province were selected for the study. These five hospitals was incorporates in July 1983, from the original initiation. These findings are discussed in terms of their implications for public officials, hospital managers, and professors. The major results were as follow: First, changes in medical ease utilization showed increase after the local public corporation program. Changes in the case-mix showed decrease in non-insured patients and increase in health insurance patients. The number of medical aid patients was similar after the local public corporation program. Second, three local public corporation medical centers showed increase in the hospital profit-income ratio after the local public corporation program. However, the other two medical centers did net show any improvement. Third, the debt ratios were increased in three medical centers, and no remarkable changes in the other two medical centers. Fourth, the accounts receivables were increased continuously in five local public corporation medical centers, and the fund surplus showed no remarkable changes in the fiscal year 1984, and an increase in 1985, respectively.restrictio
