The effects of the WIC(Women, Infants, Children) program on infant health
This study examined the influence of WIC Program participation on the health of infants at 1-5 replied by mothers. The open data of FFCWB were used and the fixed effect ordered logit model and the fixed effect logit model were used for this study. Moreover, this study investigated how WIC particiaption affect the infant health according to the data divided into family income/poverty line ratio and performed additional research using the interaction terms of WIC, TANF and FOOD STAMP. At last, it examined the influence of WIC benefits by using samples that do not benefit from TANF or FOOD STAMP as different welfare programs that can give influences on infant health.
The most important result of this study is that WIC benefits give positive and significant effects on the overall health of infants. In addition, this result has the important contribution that it was discovered in the situation where heterogeneity of infants which are not changing according to time by using the fixed effect ordered model. Furthermore, it also discovered that the poorer a family is, the more positive influences are given by WIC benefits to the overall health of infants. In case of addition of the interaction terms of WIC, TANF and FOOD STAMP, the positive effects of WIC benefits were valid and in case of exclusion of the beneficial classes from TANF or FOOD STAMP, WIC benefits were found to give positive influences to the infant health.
Our country has Nutrient Plus Program that imitates the American WIC program. Nutrient Plus Program has been gradually expanded over the country since its execution in 2005. Nutrient Plus Program is in a higher rank at the survey about satisfaction out of the welfare programs in spite of its practically low budget assignment. f this study is improved and developed, it can enable Nutrient Plus Program to proceed with similar studies and this can be used as basic framework to expand the program and raise its efficiency.

The Analysis of Effect of Double Count System in Employment of Persons with Sever Disabilities
A Clinical Study comparing the findings of MRI and EMG in low back pain patients
The 80% of the general population experience low back pain once in a life. The causes of the low back pain are variable and the herniated nucleus pulposus(HNP) is one of common cause. Recently the usage of MRI in diagnosing the HNP and evaluating it's severity is increasing, but the EMG is still necessary to find the deficit of the involved root functionally. We compared the findings of MRI and EMG from the 87 patients with the low back pain from May 1990 to October 1992. The results were as follows :
1) Disease distribution on MRI was HNP 59 cases, spinal stenosis 8 cases, Tuberculous spondylitis 4 cases, degenerative change 2 cases, metastatic tumor 1 case, and 13 cases were normal.
2) The severity of HNP was classified on the MRI findings, according to Masaryk, bulging 19 cases, protrusion 17 cases, extrusion 16 cases, sequestration 7 cases.
3) Fifty-five of the 59 cases of HNP were diagnosed radiculopathy by needle EMG and 40 cases showed abnormal conduction studies.(motor nerve conduction or H-reflex)
4) There is no significant correlation between the severity of lesion on MRI and abnormal spontaneous activities on needle EMG in 46 cases of HNP-symptomatic duration more than 2 weeks. The 80% of the general population experience low back pain once in a life. A Clinical Study about Supraspinatus Tendon Tear in the Patients with Shoulder Pain
Shoulder pain is the common problem and debilitating problem. And its etiology remains poorly understood. One of the etiology is the rotator cuff tear.
Arthrography has been considered standard diagnostic method for detecting cuff tear but it is invasive.
So, we performed non-invasive sonographic examination on the 160 shoulders-84 painful shoulders, 76 asymptomatic shoulders-from 80 patients with painful shoulder. We grouped 80 patients into three, group one is the 20 hemiplegic patients older than 50 years, group two is the 40 non-hemiplegic patients older than 50 years, group three is the 20 non-hemiplegic patients younger than 50 years. Mean age was 61.9, 60.0 and 37.8 year old in each group
The rate of the positive sonographic finding of supraspinatus tendon tear was 70%, 72.5% and 50% in each group. The pain was highly correlated with the supraspinatus tendon tear findings on the sonography(P<0.01)
We checked variable factors such as aging, hemiplegic condition, limited range of motion, history of trauma whether or not affect the supraspinatus tendon tear incidence. The aging was the only possible affecting factor that increase the incidence of supraspinatus tendon tear in our study.Shoulder pain is the common problem and debilitating problem.
