[์˜๋ฌธ] Cigarette-Smoking is known as the cause of numerous diseases. The study especially showed that it has caused mostly a serious disease for adults. The Stop-smoking movement has been spreading to the whole world, nevertheless the number of Cigarette smokers in Korea is greatly increasing. And now Koreans are worried about health conditions because recently the Cigarette-Smoking rate is unfortunately, No. 1 in the world. The study was performed on individual who had experienced 6 months to 2 years of education. And this study tried to offer the smokers some basic data for their own benefit in order to decide the way & the time of After-Service Management and to confirm a few factors needed to increase the success of the Stop-Smoking program. The people selected for the study came from the total number of 270 who graduated from the 5 Days Stop-Smoking school, between Feb. 1996 and Nov. 1997. Among them only men were chosen for the study. Some questions were given to them through phone interviews for 12 days Apr. 3, to Apr. 15, 1998. The data analysis is used for the SAS statistics program. The comparison of the related factors on the successful rate of Stop-Smoking and the period of Stop-Smoking was done by the Log-Rank method with the X2-test(chi-square test), t-test and life test. The analysis of those who resumed smoking and those who permanently stopped smoking was done by the Cox's proportional hazard regression analysis. The results are as follows: 1. Among the total 243 graduates from the 5 Days Stop-Smoking School between Feb.1996 and Nov. 1997, 96 selected individuals were on the study and only 29 of them permanently stop smoking(30.21%) were successful. They could also be classified periodically in three groups: less than 1 year-- 13(44.83%), less than 2 years -- 20(34.48%), over 2 years -- 6(20.69%). 2. The study shows the age difference: 47.17 overcame while 41.10 failed (p=.033). After the education the overcomers were able to endure at least 19 days while only 4 days was the endurance period for the failures(p=.0003). 3. The main reason for their overcoming smoking habit was that they possessed strong will-power. The main reason for failure was from the stress and friend's temptation. And the re-smoking period lasted 7 days. However most of the failures wanted to try it again. 4. The factors which mostly influenced the smoking cessation were; 1) Adherence to the total health program(p=.0043,r=.350), 2) Attendance at the Stop-Smoking School program by the school(p=.0001, r=.259), 3) Age level(p=.0079), And 4) Marital status.(p=.0027). 5. The factors that influence an individual to Stop-Smoking are: motivation (p=.0043, r=.350), the Stop-Smoking program itself(p=.0001, r=.259), and also the more they failed to practice Stop-Smoking, the greater their need for the After- Service Management program(p=.0407, r=.490). In conclusion, all the study revealed that a long effective period of smoking cessation can't be generalized because the people in this study were chosen with some limitations. But the rate of the successful overcomers is relatively high with 30.21%. The most effective factors to raise Stop-Smoking rate is the will-power which needs various Stop-Smoking programs to help and to improve the poor health condition for the adults. In addition, it is strongly recommended that the stress controlling system and Stop-Drinking education are presented together to enhance the Stop-Smoking rate successfully. Also the intensive management program in order to endure the first difficult week is desirable for ultimate success.restrictio
