WIBRO Performance Analysis and Modeling for Maritime Mobile Wide Area Network Application

and as a preceding research on the related technologies, the international trends of the standardization of the e-Navigation and strategic plans have been analyzed and also the trends both in Korea and overseas have been studied. Of all the multi-media communication switching server communication environments, the technical features and system configurations of the WIBRO are studied to improve the basic environment of the low-speed communication of the HF/VHF, which are currently in use near coastal, nearby sea water bodyThe basis for the development of core technologies in e-Navigation, IT equipment for ships, software for shipbuilding industry, support to obtain international certification etc. can be found in the master plan of the shipbuilding and maritime industries integrated with the IT industry. Further, even now, the ground waves communications of the general communications facilities depend on wireless telephone or telex and even in the case of the Internet, which is widely used on land, many factors such as high cost etc. make it almost impossible to access the Internet at sea. Recently, the fusion of the IT industry with some of the key industries such as automotive, shipbuilding, aeronautical industries has resulted in the active role of the IT industry and it is becoming a very critical element that will determine the competitiveness of those key industries. In the maritime and shipbuilding sectors, efforts are being made to create strategic development in the new-concept navigating system for users’ convenience and also organic and smooth operation between navigating systems such as the maritime navigating radar, which has been independently developed, GPS, ECDIS, AIS etc. For this purpose, government and related institutions are responding with strategies to improve the competitiveness of the key industries through the popularization of the IT industry and also to create new IT-based fusion technologies, businesses etc. In this thesis, study on the strategic development of the e-Navigation and the multi-media communication switching server which serves as the intermediary among ships, land and communications, which are the three critical factors of development has been taken up본 논문에서는 선박의 통신환경 중에서 연근 해안에서 사용 중인 HF/VHF 등의 저속통신 기반 환경을 보완할 수 있는 국제적인 표준을 만족하는 육상 이동통신 시스템의 하나인 와이브로의 육·해상 통신으로서의 적용 가능성을 확인하기 위해 실제 선박운항 현장에서 실험과정을 수행하였고 해안의 중계 기지국으로부터 신호를 전송할 때 유효 통달거리에 대한 성능을 측정하고 이를 분석하였다. 와이브로 기술이 기지국과 단말기의 출력향상, 안테나의 수신감도 및 안테나 이득 개선, 와이브로 시스템의 프레임구조 최적화 등을 고려한 현재의 통신환경에서 통달거리의 확장이 몇 Km까지 가능한지를 실험하였다. 1차 해상 실험에서는 전파환경이 더욱 좋아지는 야간에 10m 높이의 PSS 안테나 높이, 그리고 시속 40Km의 단말 이동속도를 가진 환경 조건에서 성능을 연구하였고, 연구 결과 환경변화가 성능에 많은 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다. 2차 해상 실험 에서는 5m 높이의 PSS 안테나 높이, 80Km/h 고속 단말을 가진 상태에서 성능을 파악하였다. 1차 해상 실험 보다는 약간 떨어지는 성능을 보였다. 무선 접근 지점의 출력 증강, 지향성 안테나의 방향조정, 휴대 인터넷 단말의 높이, 출력, 이동속도에 따른 성능변화를 파악할 수 있었다. 그러나 근본적인 한계인 육상으로부터 10Km내외의 짧은 통달거리를 극복하는 방안을 강구하기 위하여 제시되었던 선박중계국의 설치, 무선백홀의 도입, MANET의 적용과 메시 네트워크 토폴로지 등을 통하여 해상에 설치할 수 없었던 중계국의 개념을 확장하여 해상의 이동통신 분야에서 통달거리를 넓히기 위한 새로운 기술들을 제안하고 시뮬레이션을 통하여 와이브로에 선박 애드 혹 네트워크의 개념의 도입으로 해상환경에서 충분히 많은 선박이 위치할 경우 유효 통달거리를 늘릴 수 있다는 것을 증명하였다. 따라서 이러한 성능 결과를 바탕으로 최적의 광대역 전송매체로서 와이브로가 해상환경에서도 적용이 가능함을 확인하였다. 본 논문에서는 와이브로 기술이 기지국과 단말기의 출력향상, 안테나의 수신감도 및 안테나 이득 개선, 와이브로 시스템의 프레임구조 최적화 등을 고려한 현재의 통신환경에서 통달거리의 확장이 몇 Km까지 가능한지를 연구하였으며, 이 연구를 통하여 MANET 이동 애드 혹 라우팅 알고리즘과 메시 토폴로지를 시뮬레이션 하여 우리나라와 일본 사이에 끊임없는 통신이 가능함을 확인하였고, e-Navigation의 육·해상 통신 인프라로써 충분히 활용될 수 있음을 증명하였다. 향후 이 분야의 기술 발전과 와이브로에 대한 인프라의 충분한 보급을 기대하며, 본 논문에서 제안한 해상환경 적용 모델링이 해상 통신 환경의 표준화를 이루는데 큰 역할을 할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.and for presenting the design criteria of the e-Navigation system, scenarios for the multi-media communication channel switching server, system modeling, system requirements, functions and service environments have been drafted. Also, the search and classification on the related patents on the system development are carried out and study on the suggestions and strategies on the analysis of patent rights and methods of utilization has been taken up.
