마이크로 스트립 필터와 평판 안테나가 집적된 초광대역 펄스 발생기의 소형화에 관한 연구
학위논문(석사) - 한국과학기술원 : 전기및전자공학전공, 2005.2, [ viii, 47 p. ]In these days, Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology has become a major issue for Wireless Personal Area Networking (WPAN). One of the dominant technologies for the UWB system is the UWB-IR (Impulse Radio) which is adopted on this paper. The implementation of the UWB-IR is simple which enables the pulse generator to be small, low power consumption, and low cost. The main focus of this paper is on the miniaturization of the UWB pulse generator for the low power and the low cost applications such as the identification, the imaging, and the positioning system.
The conventional UWB pulse generators based on step recovery diode or CMOS are very bulky because of contained UWB filters which are now a major bottleneck of the miniaturization. In this paper, we propose and fabricate the newly designed UWB filters whose size are greatly reduced. This leads the UWB pulse generator to be miniaturized.
For the UWB filter in the UWB pulse generator, we considered the coupled line type band pass filter with a tapered short or open stub. The filter is made of a half wavelength transmission line resonator and a tap-connected short or open ended tapered stub. The tapered stub acts as an equivalent line resonator enabling the high rejection in the broad band. We also fabricated the rectangular patch antenna on the substrate. The rectangular patch antenna is good for the UWB applications because it has the non-dispersive and broadband characteristics.
Finally we implement the miniaturized UWB pulse generator with integrated UWB filter which is mentioned above. The size of the UWB pulse generator is 4cm X 7cm which is only 50%~60% of the conventional pulse generators. The performance of the proposed pulse generator has been evaluated by simulation and measurements. The results show the comparable performance to the conventional ones.한국과학기술원 : 전기및전자공학전공
