Recent researches show that the demands for the wireless data traffic have been explosively
increasing, and more than 70% of data traffic is generated in indoor environments.
Deployment of the small indoor cells is expected to be a good solution to solve such capacity
problem. Femtocell base station (BS) is a low-power, low-cost BS based on cellular
mobile communication technology. Two-tier cellular networks, consisting of conventional
macrocells and underlaying short-range femtocells, have received considerable attention
from industry and academia as an efficient solution to deal with the exploding demands for
the indoor wireless data usage.
In this thesis, we identify and address two main challenges for successful adoption of
femtocell technology. The first and the most fundamental challenge of femtocell deployment
is provisioning of good communication quality for both femtocell users and macrocell
users. The advanced resource allocation technology is essential in two-tier cellular networks
because the deployment of femtocells potentially increases the interference level in
the cellular networks. Since there are various scenarios in femtocell deployment and the
end users performance, the resource allocation algorithm should be adaptive to the system
environments. Especially, the cross-tier interference is highly affected by an access strategy
of femtocells, i.e., which users in the network are allowed to use the femtocells. Therefore, we in this thesis propose the different resource management schemes according to the
access strategies of femtocells, i.e., closed, open, and hybrid access strategies. The closed
access strategy, which allows only specific registered home users to communicate with the
femtocell BS, is attractive to the home users but it can impose severe cross-tier interference
to nearby cellular users in the downlink. Hence, we propose and optimize several
interference management schemes in the closed access femtocell networks. On the other
hand, the cross-tier interference problem is less serious in the open or hybrid access femtocell
networks where the macrocell users are allowed to use the femtocells. Furthermore,
the traffic loads in the congested macrocell area can be transferred to the femtocells in the
environments. Therefore, we propose load balancing schemes which aim at enhancing the
performance of macrocell and femtocell users together by properly balancing the traffic
loads in the two-tier cellular networks.
The second main challenge for successful adoption of femtocell technology is to find
the efficient policies to maximize the economic benefits of wireless service providers and
mobile users. For the success of the new technology like femtocell, the economic incentives
to the service providers and mobile users are very important as well as the technical
performance improvement. To address this economic issues, we propose the pricing frameworks
for femtocell service adoption in the monopoly and duopoly cellular communication
service markets. Using the proposed pricing frameworks, we analyze the user subscription
and revenue maximization dynamics between wireless service providers and mobile users
at adoption of the femtocell service. From the analysis results, we understand the important
environmental parameters and optimal pricing strategies to successfully adopt femtocell
technology and service in the market.ν¨ν μ

There are five tasks remaining for the two Koreas in order to dismantle
the Cold War structure and builda peace regime on the Korean peninsula:
β to establish a political and economic community through strengthening
inter-Korean exchange and cooperation, β‘ to release and suspend mutual
hostilities and to reduce military tension between North and South Koreas
through arms control and disarmament β’ to transform the armistice
agreement into a peace treaty between the two Koreas; β£ to realize the
cross recognition of both Korean by the four big powers surrounding the
peninsula β€ th stop the Korean affairs from getting globalized through
North Koreas abandonment of the WMD development. Until today, no
progress has been made in the peace process on the peninsula.
In order to make a breakthrough in the process of dismantling the Cold
War structure and establishing a peace regime on the peninsula, the
problems of North Koreas WMD development including nuclear weapons
program as well as the military tension must be solved above all. Based on
these matters, the progress in the fields of exchange and cooperation
between North and South Koreas could be made, and the political
normalization of the North Korean government with the U.S. and Japan could follow.
However, the solution to these five problems depends upon the will of
the political leadership in Pyongyang. In this sense, a clue to these tasks
would be found, when the communist political leadership in Pyongyang is
replaced with a leadership with reasonable thinking and a pragmatic attitude
in the decision-making process. And the North Korean society will be
democratized.
Since 2008 after the start of f the Lee Myungbak administration, the
μ€enuclearization/opening door-/3000 Policy?toward the North has been
carried out. However, the Policy failed to get any concession from the
North regarding its nuclear program or to open up and reform the country
it has even deteriorated the inter-Korean relationship.
Against the backdrop of the fact that the Korean affairs are characterized
as inter-Korean as well as international and that North Koreaκ°½s nuclear
program is complicated and multi-faceted, it may be desired to distinguish
the two concepts of denuclearization and opening door policy and to
handle the issues separately, on the two track, by sharing the role between
South Korea and the international community: the South Korean government
will concentrate on opening the North to democratize through all means,
including exchanges and cooperation, while the international community
will concentrate on dealing with the denuclearization process at 6 party
talks.
It is desirable for the South Korean government to resume dialogues,
exchanges and cooperation with North in economic and social fields, on the
assumption that the North will apologize for having sunk the
Chunan-warship and for having shelled Younpyung-Islandand promise not to repeat such military provocations toward the South in the future

In general Japanese nationalism is considered to have changed its nature from the "sound (or defensive)" one to the "aggressive" one. But this interpretation does not explain the reason of its transformation, nor the continuous aspects of the two nationalisms. In order to overcome these defects in the traditional interpretation, I will explain, in this paper, the nationalism in modern Japan by taking the example of Tokutomi Soho, in terms of the idea of "recognition" which is used by Charles Taylor.
Tokutomi Soho, famous journalist and ardent nationalist whose activity continued for about seventy years, had transformed his assertion as the political situation changed. This paper follows his articles at the time of four wars and its advocate of nationalism, by which I will show the transformation and continuity of Japanese nationalism
