    Observation of Radiative Decay D0ϕγD^0 \to \phi \gamma

    Full text link
    We report the observation of the decay D0ϕγD^{0} \to \phi \gamma with a statistical significance of 5.4σ5.4\sigma in 78.1 \ifb of data collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB e+ee^+ e^- collider. This is the first observation of a flavor-changing radiative decay of a charmed meson. The Cabibbo- and color-suppressed decays D0ϕπ0D^0 \to \phi \pi^0, ϕη\phi \eta are also observed for the first time. We measure branching fractions \br(D^{0} \to \phi \gamma) = [ 2.60^{+0.70}_{-0.61} \stat {}^{+0.15}_{-0.17} \syst ] \times 10^{-5}, \br(D^{0} \to \phi \pi^{0}) = [ 8.01 \pm 0.26 \stat \pm 0.47 \syst ] \times 10^{-4}, and \br(D^{0} \to \phi \eta) = [ 1.48 \pm 0.47 \stat \pm 0.09 \syst ] \times 10^{-4}.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures, Belle Preprint 2003-24, KEK Preprint 2003-75, updated version of BELLE-CONF-0346 (contributed paper to the XXI International Symposium on Lepton and Photon Interactions at High Energies,Fermilab Aug 11-16,2003). to appear in Phys.     Measurements of Branching Fractions and Polarization in B > K^* rho Decays

    Full text link
    We present results of a study of the charmless vector-vector decays B^0 -> K^{*0} rho^0 and B^+ ->K^{*0} rho^+. The results are based on a 140 fb^{-1} data sample collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e^+e^- collider. We obtain the branching fraction B(B^+ -> K^{*0} rho^+)=(6.6 +- 2.2(stat.) +- 0.8 (syst.)) x 10^{-6}, and set upper limits on the branching fractions B(B^0 -> K^{*0} rho^0) f_0(980) K^{*0})<5.2 x 10^{-6}. We also perform a helicity analysis of the rho and K^* vector mesons in the decay B^+ -> K^{*0} rho^+, and obtain the longitudinal polarization fraction R_0(B^+ -> K^{*0} rho^+)=0.50 +- 0.19(stat.)+0.05-0.07}(syst.).Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures, submitted to ICHEP04, Beijing, Chin

    Improved Measurements of Branching Fractions for B->Kpi, pipi and KK Decays

    Full text link
    We report improved measurements of branching fractions for BKπB\to K\pi, π+π\pi^+\pi^-, π+π0\pi^+\pi^0 and KKˉK\bar{K} decays based on a data sample of 85.0 million BBˉB\bar{B} pairs collected at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon (4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+ee^+e^- storage ring. This data sample is almost three times larger than the sample previously used. We observe clear signals for BKπB\to K\pi, π+π\pi^+\pi^- and π+π0\pi^+\pi^0 decays and set upper limits on BKKˉB\to K\bar{K} decays. The results can be used to give model-dependent constraints on the CKM angle ϕ3\phi_3, as well as limits on the hadronic uncertainty in the time-dependent analysis of the angle ϕ2\phi_2.Comment: 10 pages, 1 figure, 4 tables. Study of time-dependent CP violation in B0 -> J/Psi pi0 decays

    Full text link
    We report a measurement of CP asymmetry parameters in the decay B0(B0bar) -> J/Psi pi0, which is governed by the b->c cbar d transition. The analysis is based on a 140/fb data sample accumulated at the Upsilon(4S) resonance by the belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We fully reconstruct one neutral B meson in the J/Psi pi0 final state. The accompanying B meson flavor is identified by its decay products. From the distribution of proper time intervals between the two B decays, we obtain the following CP-violating parameters: S_{J/Psi pi0}=-0.72+-0.42+-0.09 and A_{J/Psi pi0}=-0.01 +-0.29+-0.03.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures, submitted to PR

    Observation of B+ to Lambda Lambdabar K+

    Full text link
    We report the first observation of the charmless hyperonic B decay, B^+ --> Lambda Lambdabar K^+, using a 140 fb^-1 data sample recorded at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e^+e^- collider. The measured branching fraction is B(B^+ --> Lambda Lambdabar K^+) = 2.91 ^{+0.90}_{-0.70} +/- 0.38 *10^-6 . We also perform a search for the related decay mode B^+ --> Lambda Lambdabar pi^+, but do not find a significant signal. We set a 90% confidence-level upper limit of B(B^+ --> Lambda Lambdabar pi^+) < 2.8 * 10^-6.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev. Let

    Measurements of Branching Fractions and CP Asymmetries in B-> etah Decays

    Full text link
    We report measurements of B to pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar decays with at least one eta meson in the final state using 140 fb^{-1} of data collected by the Belle detector at KEKB e^+ e^- collider. We observe the decay B^+-> eta pi^+ and find evidence of B^+-> eta K+; the measured branching fractions are B(B^+-> eta pi^+)=(4.8^{+0.8}_{-0.7}(stat) +- 0.3(sys))*10^{-6} and B(B^+-> eta K^+)=(2.1 +- 0.6(stat)+- 0.2(sys))*10^{-6}. Their corresponding CP violating asymmetries are measured to be 0.07+- 0.15 (stat) +- 0.03(sys) for eta pi^+- and -0.49+- 0.31 (stat) +- 0.07(sys) for eta K^+-. No significant signals are found for neutral B->eta h decays. We report the following upper limits on branching fractions at the 90% confidence level: B(B-> eta K^0 < 2.0* 10^{-6}, B(B-> eta pi0) eta eta) <2.0*10^{-6}.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figure

    Study of B0 -> rho+-pi-+ Time-dependent CP Violation at Belle

    Full text link
    We present a time-dependent analysis of CP violation in B0 -> rho pi decays based on a 140 1/fb data sample collected at the Y(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We fully reconstruct one neutral B meson in the rho+-pi-+ final state and identify the flavor of the accompanying B meson from its decay products. We obtain the charge asymmetry ACP = -0.16+-0.10(stat)+-0.02(syst). An unbinned maximum likelihood fit to the proper-time distributions yields C = 0.25+-0.17(stat)+0.02-0.06(syst), DC = 0.38+-0.18(stat)+0.02-0.04(syst), S = -0.28+-0.23(stat)+0.10-0.08(syst), and DS = -0.30+-0.24(stat)+-0.09(syst). The direct CP violation parameters for B -> rho+pi- and B -> rho-pi+ decays are A+- = -0.02+-0.16(stat)+0.05-0.02(syst) and A-+ = -0.53+-0.29(stat)+0.09-0.04(syst).Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures, submitted to Phys. Study of CP Violating Effects in Time Dependent B0(B0ˉ)D()π±B^0(\bar{B^0}) \to D^{(*)\mp}\pi^{\pm} Decays

    Full text link
    We report measurements of time dependent decay rates for B0(Bˉ0)D()π±B^0(\bar{B}^0) \to D^{(*)\mp}\pi^{\pm} decays and extraction of CP violation parameters containing ϕ3\phi_3. Using fully reconstructed D()πD^{(*)}\pi events from a 140fb1140 {\rm fb}^{-1} data sample collected at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance, we obtain the CP violation parameters for DπD^* \pi and DπD \pi decays, 2RD()πsin(2ϕ1+ϕ3±δD()π)2R_{D^{(*)} \pi} \sin (2\phi_1 + \phi_3 \pm \delta_{D^{(*)} \pi}), where RD()πR_{D^{(*)} \pi} is the ratio of the magnitudes of the doubly-Cabibbo-suppressed and Cabibbo-favoured amplitudes, and δD()π\delta_{D^{(*)} \pi} is the strong phase difference between them. Under the assumption of δD()π\delta_{D^{(*)} \pi} being close to either 0 or 180180^{\circ}, we obtain 2RDπsin(2ϕ1+ϕ3)=0.060±0.040(stat)±0.019(sys)|2R_{D^* \pi} \sin (2\phi_1 + \phi_3)| = 0.060 \pm 0.040(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.019(\mathrm{sys}) and 2RDπsin(2ϕ1+ϕ3)=0.061±0.037(stat)±0.018(sys)|2R_{D \pi} \sin (2\phi_1 + \phi_3)| = 0.061 \pm 0.037(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.018(\mathrm{sys}).Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures, Submitted to Physical Review Letter

    Observation of the decay B^0->D+D*-

    Full text link
    We report the first observation of the decay B^0->D+-D*-+ with the Belle detector at the KEKB e^+e^- collider operated at the Upsilon(4S) resonance. The sum of branching fractions B(B^0->D+D*-)+B(B^0->D-D*+) is measured to be (1.17+-0.26+0.22-0.25)x10^-3 using the full reconstruction method where both charmed mesons from B^0 decays are reconstructed. A consistent value ((1.48+-0.38+0.28-0.31)x10^-3) is obtained using a partial reconstruction technique that only uses the slow pion from the D*- ->bar D^0pi- decay and a fully reconstructed D+ to reconstruct the B^0.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure
