Methodological Approach for Evaluation and Improvement of Quality Transport Service in Public Road Passenger Transport

    Get PDF
Achieving the appropriate level of quality transport service is essential in the operations of the carriers in the public road intercity line passenger transport due to an increased competition between road carriers in the market of transport services. Effective assessment of achieved competitiveness is important for the survival and development of public road passenger carriers. The problem of research is reflected in the appropriate organization and giving importance to the criteria of quality of transport service in order to improve the methodology of its evaluation with the aim of optimizing business and competitiveness in public road intercity line passenger traffic. An efficient method for evaluating the quality of transport service would solve the problem of assessing the quality of transport service and assessing the competitiveness of bus carriers. It is proposed to develop a multi-criteria model for evaluating the quality of transport services by the method of measuring passenger satisfaction. The developed VAZP model (Multicriteria Analysis of Passenger Satisfaction) is based on multicriteria analysis AHP (Analytical Hierarchical Process) which is based on the disaggregated approach and linear programming modeling. The results of the research will be described using numerical values and will be graphically presented using descriptive statistical analysis. The ability to qualitatively represent passengerꞌs judgments and preferences makes the model a suitable tool for assessing passenger satisfaction and evaluating quality service in the transportation sector, as well as strategically positioning and gaining a competitive opportunities in the transportation services market. Using the Expert Choice software tool and sensitivity analysis it would establish differences between reached level of the quality of transport service of individual bus carriers and propose possible improvements to the business to gain a competitive advantage in the market of transportation services. Systematic optimization and quality management through continuous assessment of market competitiveness contributes to the development of the business of companies for road passenger transportation

WIRELESS COMMUNICATION IN COOPERATIVE URBAN TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

    Get PDF
The possibility to enable cooperative concept in urban traffic systems is challenging because of large amount of traffic data that must be collected, processed and distributed to end users. The main objective is to establish communication between three main subsystems of traffic system: driver, vehicle and infrastructure so that they can cooperate in real time traffic environment. This paper describes various wireless communication technologies that can be used to achieve real time dana exchange, and potential problems and limitations. Internet of Things (IoT) concept can be used as supportive concept for collection, processing and distribution of traffic data with one main goal – to increase urban traffic system quality in overall

Modeling the Permeable Power of the Road on a Semaforized Crossing Using Petri Nets

    Get PDF
With the growth in demand and the development of traffic over the last fifty years, the need for the introduction of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) is growing every day. With a modern approach they solve complex traffic problems. One modern approach is modeling the dynamics of Petri Nets. The Petri Nets is a powerful graphical and mathematical model for working with discrete systems. This paper describes how using a Petri Net can manage signaled intersections, assist in choosing the best alternative route, or manage an intersection at which an incident occurred. The research was carried out in a real traffic environment, at the intersection of Zagrebačka Road and Bistrička Road in the center of the city Sesvete, by modeling with coloured timed Petri Nets

The paper analyses the real-time detection of incidents in road traffic. A general model is presented of an integral road traffic incident management system. The paper presents the major incident detection methods. The detection procedure on open highway sections has been dealt with in particular. Adequate mathematical model has been defined, as the base for the realisation of the estimators of the traffic flow condition variables. The proposed method is the Extended Kalman Filter. The final part of the paper deals with an example for the realisation of the Incident Management Decision Support System (IMDSS). KEY WORDS: intelligent transport system, incident management system, traffic model in the status space, theory of estimation, extended Kalman filter, automatic incident detection, decision support syste

Aluminium-based Composite Materials in Construction of Transport Means

    Get PDF
The implementation of the achievements in material science both through history as well as today, is directly indicated in the improvement of the efficiency of transport means which then results in the improvement of the technology of traffic and transport. Today’s requirements in the area of engineering materials intended for the construction of transport means impose reduction of mass as one of the fundamental criterion. Consideration of the technical and technological societies have been oriented towards light materials and the possibilities of their modification in order to substitute the past traditional heavy monoliths such as iron, steel, copper, etc. The potential has been recognised in the aluminium-based materials. Aluminium and its versions have been already widely used in automotive industry; however, their utility spectrum still avoids the tribologically sensitive purposes. This paper is focused on the possibility of producing such a material. Ceramic particles Al2O3 have been integrated into soft aluminium, various particle sizes and share, by powder metallurgy techniques. The mechanical properties of materials have been studied in dependence on the share, size of particles, type of Al/Al2O3, as well as the graphite addition. Al/Al2O3 composites have been produced without any problems and have shown satisfactory mechanical properties. KEYWORDS: reduction of transport means mass, aluminium-based composites, Al/Al2O3 composite

Credibility and Authenticity of Digitally Signed Videos in Traffic

The paper presents the possibilities of insuring the credibilityand authenticity of the surveillance camera video by digitalsigning, using the public key infrastructure as part of interoperabletraffic and information system in the future intelligenttransport systems. The surveillance camera video is a sequenceof individual frames and a unique digital print, i. e. hash valueis calculated for each of these. By encryption of the hash valuesof the frames using private encryption key of the surveillancecentre, digital signatures are created and they are stored in thedatabase. The surveillance centre can issue a copy of the videoto all the interested subjects for scientific and research workand investigation. Regardless of the scope, each subsequentmanipulation of the video copy contents will certainly changethe hash value of all the frames. The procedure of determiningthe authenticity and credibility of videos is reduced to the comparisonof the hash values of the frames stored in the databaseof the surveillance centre with the values obtained from the interestedsubjects such as the traffic experts and investigators,surveillance-security services etc

Low Contrast Challenge and Limitations of Thermal Drones in Maritime Search and Rescue—Pilot Study

This paper analyses the efficiency of thermal infrared (TIR) systems during night search operations under specific weather conditions, with a focus on determining the maximum operating altitude of the drone. The drone used in the research (DJI Matrice 210 V2) is equipped with a thermal camera, in a scenario involving maritime search and rescue (SAR) operation, i.e., person detection at sea with or without a survival suit. By capturing images from different altitudes and measuring key atmospheric and maritime parameters, essential data are obtained for defining optimal DRI parameters (detection, recognition, and identification) within the existing on-site meteorological conditions. This research contributes to more accurate life-saving procedures, underlining the importance of uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) technology for maritime SAR. It is expected that the presented model will improve operational readiness for SAR operations in areas with similar climatic profiles. The research results indicate the need to conduct similar research in different climatic conditions to improve the application of the TIR system in maritime SAR operations
