Rekonstrukcija toka rijeke Save na Å”irem zagrebaÄkom podruÄju u 18. i 19. stoljeÄu (Sažetak)
The paper presents, in the form of cartographic supplements, the results of geoinformational reconstruction of the Sava River course in the wider area of Zagreb during the 18th and 19th centuries based on maps of the Habsburg Monarchy. By comparing the obtained results with the present state, both natural (resulting from hydrographic and morphological actions of the river) and anthropogenic changes in the Sava River course are examined. Eight examples are highlighted that illustrate these changes ā whether they are clearly visible today (such as the position of roads and settlements) or hidden, absorbed by the urban development of Zagreb to a greater or lesser extent (primarily along the right riverbank).Rad donosi, u obliku kartografskih priloga, rezultate geoinformacijske rekonstrukcije toka rijeke Save na Å”irem podruÄju grada Zagreba u 18. i 19. stoljeÄu na temelju karata HabsburÅ”ke Monarhije. U komparaciji dobivenih rezultata s danaÅ”njim stanjem sagledavaju se prirodne (nastale usred hidrografskih i morfoloÅ”kih djelovanja rijeke) i antropogene promjene toka rijeke Save.

The Slavonian Military Frontier in 1577 - A Contribution to the Demographic Study of Slavonian Military Units (Migrations, Etymology, Croatian Identity)
This paper presents the results of a demographic inquiry into the 1577 Slavonian Military Frontier military payrolls (ger. Muster Liste). The document is a proto-statistical list which abounds in data conducive to several levels of research. At the first level of analysis, the author reconstructs the place of origin of frontier soldiers. He establishes whether most soldiers listed in the 1577 payroll were of Slavic heritage and whether there were any differences in heritage between field and fortress units. The second level of analysis pertains to the question of Croatian identity of those individuals dubbed Ā»H(o)rvatiĀ« [Croats] in the source. This particular name is contextualized within the wider integrative process of the Kingdoms of Croatia and Slavonia into a single political unit. Finally, the third level of analysis deals with the etymology of soldiersā names, listing the most popular ones. The paper features several maps and tables which allow for the visualization of the findings

The Concept of Heroism on the Military Frontier ā The Example of Razgovor ugodni naroda slovinskoga
PromatrajuÄi zbirku pjesama Razgovor ugodni naroda slovinskoga fra Andrije KaÄiÄa MioÅ”iÄa kao primjer zbirke napisanih usmenih pjesama (koncept ameriÄkoga teoretiÄara usmene književnosti Johna Milesa Foleyja) rad pruža prilog prouÄavanju poimanja junaÅ”tva u krÅ”Äanskome svijetu pograniÄnih utvrda (njem. Welt der Granzfestungen), tj. na graniÄnome prostoru krÅ”Äanskih sila (HabsburÅ”ke Monarhije i MletaÄke Republike) i Osmanskoga Carstva u ranome novom vijeku. In approaching Razgovor ugodni naroda slovinskog, a collection of poems penned by the friar Andrija KaÄiÄ MioÅ”iÄ, as an example of written oral poems (a concept formulated by the American oral literature scholar John Miles Foley), this paper studies the idea of heroism in the Welt der Granzfestungen, i.e. on the frontier between Christian forces (the Habsburg Monarchy and the Republic of Venice) and the Ottoman Empire in the early modern period. Assuming that historical figures featured in oral poems serve as exempla, the author attempts to lay bare the complex idea of heroism as it existed in the frontier value system. This is done by applying the concept of humanitas heroica
