Anxiety and self-esteem in cyber-victimization profiles of adolescents
patrones de victimización en la adolescencia, y su relación con la ansiedad social y la autoestimaThis study has two objectives: (1) Identify profiles of victimization in adolescence, depending on the levels of offline or
online peer aggression suffered, along with the prevalence of each profile; and (2) Analyse the association of the
victimization profiles with adolescents’ social anxiety and self-esteem. The sample was comprised of 3120 adolescents
aged 12 to 18 (M=14.03; SD=1.40) from Asturias (Spain), who completed self-report questionnaires about traditional peer
victimization and cyber-victimization, as well as social anxiety and self-esteem. We performed descriptive analyses, Latent
Profile Analyses, and multivariate analyses of variance. We found a positive, moderate correlation between being a cybervictim and being a traditional victim, along with four profile types: non-victims (77.8%), mainly cyber-victims (13.5%), mainly
traditional victims (4.5%), and dual victims (4.3%). Traditional victims and dual victims exhibited greater social anxiety and
less self-esteem than cyber-victims, who exhibited greater social anxiety and less self-esteem than non-victims. Dual
victims and traditional victims do not differ in social anxiety and self-esteem. The results contribute to the identification of
patterns of victimization in school-age adolescents, and their relationship with social anxiety and self-estee

Multiscale entropy analysis of unattended oximetric recordings to assist in the screening of paediatric sleep apnoea at home
Producción CientíficaUntreated paediatric obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS) can severely affect the development and quality of life of children. In-hospital polysomnography (PSG) is the gold standard for a definitive diagnosis though it is relatively unavailable and particularly intrusive. Nocturnal portable oximetry has emerged as a reliable technique for OSAS screening. Nevertheless, additional evidences are demanded. Our study is aimed at assessing the usefulness of multiscale entropy (MSE) to characterise oximetric recordings. We hypothesise that MSE could provide relevant information of blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) dynamics in the detection of childhood OSAS. In order to achieve this goal, a dataset composed of unattended SpO2 recordings from 50 children showing clinical suspicion of OSAS was analysed. SpO2 was parameterised by means of MSE and conventional oximetric indices. An optimum feature subset composed of five MSE-derived features and four conventional clinical indices were obtained using automated bidirectional stepwise feature selection. Logistic regression (LR) was used for classification. Our optimum LR model reached 83.5% accuracy (84.5% sensitivity and 83.0% specificity). Our results suggest that MSE provides relevant information from oximetry that is complementary to conventional approaches. Therefore, MSE may be useful to improve the diagnostic ability of unattended oximetry as a simplified screening test for childhood OSAS.Sociedad Española de Neumología y Cirugía Torácica (SEPAR) project 153/2015Junta de Castilla y León (Consejería de Educación) y el Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER), projects (RTC-2015-3446-1) y (TEC2014-53196-R)Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (MINECO) y FEDER, y el proyecto POCTEP 0378_AD_EEGWA_2_P de la Comisión Europea. Universality class of 3D site-diluted and bond-diluted Ising systems
We present a finite-size scaling analysis of high-statistics Monte Carlo
simulations of the three-dimensional randomly site-diluted and bond-diluted
Ising model. The critical behavior of these systems is affected by
slowly-decaying scaling corrections which make the accurate determination of
their universal asymptotic behavior quite hard, requiring an effective control
of the scaling corrections. For this purpose we exploit improved Hamiltonians,
for which the leading scaling corrections are suppressed for any thermodynamic
quantity, and improved observables, for which the leading scaling corrections
are suppressed for any model belonging to the same universality class.
The results of the finite-size scaling analysis provide strong numerical
evidence that phase transitions in three-dimensional randomly site-diluted and
bond-diluted Ising models belong to the same randomly dilute Ising universality
class. We obtain accurate estimates of the critical exponents, ,
, , , ,
, and of the leading and next-to-leading correction-to-scaling
exponents, and .Comment: 45 pages, 22 figs, revised estimate of n

New and Updated Global Empirical Seawater Property Estimation Routines
We introduce three new Empirical Seawater Property Estimation Routines (ESPERs) capable of predicting seawater phosphate, nitrate, silicate, oxygen, total titration seawater alkalinity, total hydrogen scale pH (pHT), and total dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) from up to 16 combinations of seawater property measurements. The routines generate estimates from neural networks (ESPER_NN), locally interpolated regressions (ESPER_LIR), or both (ESPER_Mixed). They require a salinity value and coordinate information, and benefit from additional seawater measurements if available. These routines are intended for seawater property measurement quality control and quality assessment, generating estimates for calculations that require approximate values, original science, and producing biogeochemical property context from a data set. Relative to earlier LIR routines, the updates expand their functionality, including new estimated properties and combinations of predictors, a larger training data product including new cruises from the 2020 Global Data Analysis Project data product release, and the implementation of a first-principles approach for quantifying the impacts of anthropogenic carbon on DIC and pHT. We show that the new routines perform at least as well as existing routines, and, in some cases, outperform existing approaches, even when limited to the same training data. Given that additional training data has been incorporated into these updated routines, these updates should be considered an improvement over earlier versions. The routines are intended for all ocean depths for the interval from 1980 to ~2030 c.e., and we caution against using the routines to directly quantify surface ocean seasonality or make more distant predictions of DIC or pHT.1,82
Satisfaction and experience with colorectal cancer screening : a systematic review of validated patient reported outcome measures
Background: Patient satisfaction or experience with colorectal cancer screening can determine adherence to screening programs. An evaluation of validated patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) for measuring experience or satisfaction with colorectal cancer screening does not exist. Our objective was to identify and critically appraise validated questionnaires for measuring patient satisfaction or experience with colorectal cancer screening. Methods: We conducted a systematic review following the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) methodology. We conducted searches on MEDLINE, EMBASE, PsychINFO, CINAHL and BiblioPRO and assessed the methodological quality of studies and measurement properties of questionnaires according to the COSMIN guidelines for systematic reviews of PROMs. PROSPERO registration number: CRD42019118527. Results: We included 80 studies that used 75 questionnaires, of which only 5 were validated. Four questionnaires measured satisfaction with endoscopy: two in the context of colorectal cancer screening (for colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy) and two for non-screening endoscopy. One questionnaire measured satisfaction with bowel preparation. The methodological quality of studies was variable. The questionnaires with evidence for sufficient content validity and internal consistency were: the CSSQP questionnaire, which measures safety and satisfaction with screening colonoscopy, and the Post-Procedure questionnaire which measures satisfaction with non-screening endoscopic procedures. Conclusions: This systematic review shows that a minority of existing PROMs for measuring patient satisfaction with colorectal cancer screening are validated. We identified two questionnaires with high potential for further use (CSSQP and the Post-Procedure questionnaire)
Correlated Domains in Spin Glasses
We study the 3D Edwards-Anderson spin glasses, by analyzing spin-spin
correlation functions in thermalized spin configurations at low T on large
lattices. We consider individual disorder samples and analyze connected
clusters of very correlated sites: we analyze how the volume and the surface of
these clusters increases with the lattice size. We qualify the important
excitations of the system by checking how large they are, and we define a
correlation length by measuring their gyration radius. We find that the
clusters have a very dense interface, compatible with being space filling.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures. Version accepted for publicatio
Selenocompounds as Novel Antibacterial Agents and Bacterial Efflux Pump Inhibitors
Bacterial multidrug resistance is becoming a growing problem for public health, due to
the development and spreading of bacterial strains resistant to antimicrobials. In this study, the
antibacterial and multidrug resistance reversing activity of a series of seleno-carbonyl compounds
has been evaluated. The effects of eleven selenocompounds on bacterial growth were evaluated in
Staphylococcus aureus, methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA), Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, and
Chlamydia trachomatis D. The combination effect of compounds with antibiotics was examined by the
minimum inhibitory concentration reduction assay. Their efflux pump (EP) inhibitory properties
were assessed using real-time fluorimetry. Relative expressions of EP and quorum-sensing genes
were studied by quantitative PCR. Results showed that a methylketone selenoester had remarkable
antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and potentiated the activity of oxacillin in MRSA.
Most of the selenocompounds showed significant anti-chlamydial effects. The selenoanhydride
and the diselenodiester were active inhibitors of the AcrAB-TolC system. Based on these results
it can be concluded that this group of selenocompounds can be attractive potential antibacterials
and EP inhibitors. The discovery of new derivatives with a significant antibacterial activity as novel
selenocompounds, is of high impact in the fight against resistant pathogen
Hydrothermal extraction of ulvans from Ulva spp. in a biorefinery approach
A simple cascade process based on the hydrothermal fractionation of Ulva spp. biomass was proposed. Considering the overall extraction yields (50 %), ulvan recovery (23 %), and ulvan composition, structural, mechanical and cytotoxic properties, the selected optimal final heating temperature was 160 °C. Ethanol precipitation provided the highest ulvan recovery yields but choline chloride precipitated ulvans showed stronger mechanical properties, G´ moduli 1.5·104 Pa and 3·104 Pa for ethanol and for choline chloride, respectively. Both products were safe on NCTC 929 mouse fibroblasts and after a cooling stage, formed films without requiring any additives. From the ulvan-free liquid fraction, one product with 43 % (wt, d.b.) phenolics and moderate antiradical properties and a byproduct containing nutrients and minerals were separated. The methane potential of the corresponding residual solids was influenced by the hydrothermal heating temperature and was doubled compared to than for the untreated seaweed biomass (60 mL/g VS). This scheme could be also applied to the wet algal biomass, in a chemical free alternative to provide ready to use ulvan biopolymers, bioactives, nutrients, salts and biogas, conforming a biorefinery approach.Agencia Estatal de Investigación | Ref. Critical equation of state of randomly dilute Ising systems
We determine the critical equation of state of three-dimensional randomly
dilute Ising systems, i.e. of the random-exchange Ising universality class. We
first consider the small-magnetization expansion of the Helmholtz free energy
in the high-temperature phase. Then, we apply a systematic approximation scheme
of the equation of state in the whole critical regime, that is based on
polynomial parametric representations matching the small-magnetization of the
Helmholtz free energy and satisfying a global stationarity condition. These
results allow us to estimate several universal amplitude ratios, such as the
ratio A^+/A^- of the specific-heat amplitudes. Our best estimate A^+/A^-=1.6(3)
is in good agreement with experimental results on dilute uniaxial
antiferromagnets.Comment: 21 pages, 1 figure, refs adde
