    Get PDF
[[abstract]]At present, the synthesizing faces of different ages does not emphasize on feature alignment and rectification of twisted images. If these situations do happen, they might cause failure and inaccuracy on synthesizing images. In this paper, we propose a reversible human facial aging/rejuvenating synthesis system which is implemented by Active Shape Model (ASM) integrated with Log-Gabor Wavelet, which can be used to search for the dementia elderly. First, we use AdaBoost and ASM algorithm to extract the feature set of human face, and rectify them by the concept of facial geometric invariance. The invariant concepts are the distance between inner corners of both eyes and the distance between the nose and chin. Then, we find manually one target image which is similar to the test image from the database, and analyze age texture of this human image by Log-Gabor wavelet in order to retrieve decomposition maps. Finally, we can effectively simulate human facial images of people of different ages by controlling the number of decomposition map of images and objectively judge the results via the density of wrinkles.[[incitationindex]]EI[[booktype]]紙本[[booktype]]電子

Restoring Warped Document Image Based on Text Line Correction

    Get PDF
[[abstract]]Document images captured by camera often suffer from warping and distortions because of the bounded volumes and complex environment light source. These effects not only reduce the document readability but also the OCR recognition performance. In this paper, we propose a method to combine non-linear and linear compensation for correcting distortions of document images. First, due to the broken text result of Otsu binarization, an image preprocessing is used to remove the effect of background light. Second, the dewarping method using the cubic polynomial fitting equation is proposed to find out the optimal approximate text line for vertical direction rectification. Finally, we use linear compensation for horizontal direction rectification. Experimental results demonstrate the robustness of the proposed methodology and improve the accuracy rate of OCR recognition.[[conferencetype]]國際[[conferencedate]]20130618~20130620[[booktype]]紙本[[iscallforpapers]]Y[[conferencelocation]]Jeju Island, Republic of Kore

Fast Image Restoration Method Based on the Multi-Resolution Layer

[[abstract]]When transmitted through a poor quality network or stored on an unstable storage media, block-based code images will experience the block loss. To restore damaged images suffering from block loss, Best Neighborhood Matching and Jump and Look-Around BNM provide the most effective image restoration. However, while BNM offers good restoration quality, it requires a large calculation time. By “JUMP” method, JLBNM can effectively shorten the computation time but this comes at the cost of a loss in quality. We have therefore proposed a new image inpainting technique that uses theWavelet Domain to deliver fast computation time and high restoration quality Wavelet Stage BNM. Our proposed reconstruction algorithm includes three optimization techniques change of analytical domain, consideration of texture composition and a new decision-making mechanism: DirectionalWaveletWeighted Method. Theoretical analysis and experimental results demonstrate our method delivered fast computation time and high restoration quality.[[notice]]補正完畢[[incitationindex]]EI[[booktype]]紙

Non-Visual Document Recognition for Blind Reading Assistant System

[[abstract]]As time goes on, a huge mass of progressive knowledge is developed and then the e-book is built for paper reduction and environmental protection. Therefore, many historical documents over the past don’t exist. Research on blind reading aid device is a popular topic gradually, but there are some drawbacks on these methods. For example, electronic documents of many old dated of historical documents don’t read because format should be limited to e-document. Users can’t read any specified region of the document as he wishes. A novel blind reading aid device is proposed without e-document and the user only need to point the document with his finger. This system is composed of third parts. First, we use rectangle detection method to catch the region for document under the Microsoft Kinect. Next, dilation method and projection profile methods are used in order to execrate text and constructed coordinate database. Finally, skin detection, BEA method and depth image of Microsoft Kinect can get the coordinates of user’s finger when user wishes to read the document, and then match with constructed coordinate database to get the character. Then system output is obtained via text to speech.[[notice]]補正完畢[[journaltype]]國外[[conferencetype]]國際[[conferencedate]]20130618~20130620[[ispeerreviewed]]Y[[booktype]]紙本[[iscallforpapers]]Y[[conferencelocation]]Jeju Island, Republic of Korea[[countrycodes]]KO

A Simple Face Aging/Reverse-Aging Synthesis Method Using Log-Gabor Wavelet

    Get PDF
[[abstract]]A face aging/reverse-aging synthesis method based on face detection and Log-Gabor wavelet is proposed. Source images are first captured by the AdaBoost face detection algorithm and then individually normalized. A reference image from the target age group that closely resembles the test subject’s face is then selected. Because the Log-Gabor wavelet is characterized by a broader bandwidth and takes less time to search a wide range of spectral information then the Gabor wavelet, the Log-Gabor wavelet method is used to determine the aged skin surface topography and the decomposition map is obtained. By adjusting the number of details to be extracted from the decomposition map, we can effectively synthesize facial images for different age groups. Experimental results are verified with wrinkle density estimation.[[incitationindex]]EI[[booktype]]紙

[[abstract]]This paper proposed a bi-directional people-flow counting system with Kinect. It can also be applied to multi-flow to correspond with the demand for the practical application. Firstly, we set the Kinect above the doorway to capture the situation of pedestrian flow. Then this system detects people in the covering area using the depth image information from Kinect system. And we do the morphological processing like erosion tothe object and find the region of interest (ROI) often performed on using a mapping-based detection approach. After these previous steps, this system set a detected line and let people go through it. Therefore, we can get people number of the experimental result. For the multi-flow case, it will cause the occlusion problem, so we could apply the depth information to distinguish the target on occlusion problem. Final, we compare the experimental results with the manual count results and other research. Under normal circumstances, our system provides not only almost 100% for bi-directional counting but also correspond with the demand for real-time.[[conferencetype]]國際[[conferencetkucampus]]淡水校園[[conferencedate]]20121104~20121107[[booktype]]電子版[[iscallforpapers]]Y[[conferencelocation]]New Taipei City, Taiwa

3D Angle Searching System with PSO for Face Recognition

    Get PDF
[[abstract]]Conventional 2D face recognition methods often struggle when a subject's head is turned even slightly to the side. In this study, a face recognition system based on 3D head modeling that is able to tolerate facial rotation angles was constructed by leveraging the Open source graphic library (OpenGL) framework. To minimize the extensive angle searching time that often occurs in conventional 3D modeling, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) was used to determine the correct facial angle in 3D. This reduced the angle computation time to 6 seconds, which is significantly faster than other methods. Experimental results showed that successful ID recognition can be achieved with a high recognition rate of 90%.[[incitationindex]]EI[[booktype]]電子版[[booktype]]紙

An Obstacle Detection System Using Depth Information and Region Growing for Blind

    Get PDF
[[abstract]]In order to make the visually impaired people get the information of obstacles effectively and avoid it successfully in the unfamiliar environment, we propose an obstacle detection method based on depth information. Firstly, we use the edge characteristics of depth image to segment the obstacle by different depth. Then we remove the unnecessary ground information by gradient threshold. Our algorithm can label the obstacles by region growing algorithm respectively. Finally, we use rectangular windows to box out these obstacles. Our algorithm can display distances between Kinect sensor and these centers of obstacles on the frame for accuracy. Experimental results show that the proposed method has greater robustness than others. And the average of processing speed is only 0.08 second per frame.[[conferencetype]]國際[[conferencedate]]20130618~20130620[[booktype]]紙本[[iscallforpapers]]Y[[conferencelocation]]Jeju Island, Kore
