Apriyani, Lina (2014). Analisis Semantik Bahasa Argot dalam Dialog Film Jeux d’Enfants karya Yann Samuell. Bandung : FPBS UPI
Apriyani, Lina (2014). Analisis Semantik Bahasa Argot dalam Dialog Film Jeux d’Enfants karya Yann Samuell. Bandung : FPBS UPI
This research aims to describe a reaseach attempt to find the slang language which appears in the dialogue of Jeux d’Enfants movie directed by Yann Samuell in 2006 by employing semantic approach namely lexical and contextual meaning. The methods adopted in this research is descriptive documentary. This research highlights that there are several slang language in the dialogue of the selected movie with various types found namely (1) la substitution synonymique, (2) les mots étrangers, (3) la troncation, and (4) l’épithète de nature. The type of slang words used mostly in this movie are nouns; in addition, though of minor occurrence are adjectives, verbs, and idioms. If these slang language are within the context of a sentence, there are several slang vocabularies will have some change in their contextual meaning from lexical meaning, while some of them remain. By this research, the students are expected to increase their knowledge about linguistic, particularly semantic and slang language.

ARGOT: Accelerated radiative transfer on grids using oct-tree
We present two types of numerical prescriptions that accelerate the radiative
transfer calculation around point sources within a three-dimensional Cartesian
grid by using the oct-tree structure for the distribution of radiation sources.
In one prescription, distant radiation sources are grouped as a bright extended
source when the group's angular size, , is smaller than a
critical value, , and radiative transfer is solved on
supermeshes whose angular sizes are similar to that of the group of sources.
The supermesh structure is constructed by coarse-graining the mesh structure.
With this method, the computational time scales with where and are the number of meshes and
that of radiation sources, respectively. While this method is very efficient,
it inevitably overestimates the optical depth when a group of sources acts as
an extended powerful radiation source and affects distant meshes. In the other
prescription, a distant group of sources is treated as a bright point source
ignoring the spatial extent of the group and the radiative transfer is solved
on the meshes rather than the supermeshes. This prescription is simply a
grid-based version of {\scriptsize START} by Hasegawa & Umemura and yields
better results in general with slightly more computational cost () than the supermesh prescription. Our methods
can easily be implemented to any grid-based hydrodynamic codes and are
well-suited to the adaptive mesh refinement methods.Comment: 13 pages, 12 figures, submitted to MNRAS. Revised according to

ANALISIS SEMANTIK BAHASA ARGOT PADA LIRIK LAGU GRUP RAP SEXION D’ASSAUT DALAM ALBUM L’APOGÉE
This article aims to describe and discuss about the usage in argot language which appears in song lyrics L’Apogée album, a rap album by the group rap Sexion d’Assaut, by employing semantic approach namely lexical and contextual meaning. The methods used in this analysis are descriptive-qualitative method by collecting reference-study and documentary. The results, there are several forms of argotic language in the lyrics L’Apogée album by Sexion d’Assaut: 1) le verlan 2) l’abréviation 3) la dérivation, 4) l’emprunt dan 5) l’autre procédé. Based on the research, the lexical and the contextual meaning of argot language in this album are consistent. In this album was found that the language argotic l’emprunt is the most commonly found. There are 46 % of l’emprunt, 29 % of le verlan, 21 % of l’abréviation, 3% of la dérivation and 2 % of l’autre procédé formel. Nevertheless there are some argotic vocabularies which have some changes in the lexical and contextual meaning. Through this research, the students are expected to increase their knowledge about linguistics, particularly semantic and argotic language. This research is one of the references for French teacher or instructor which also can be applied for Linguistique IV: Sociolinguistique.

Youth Culture and Urban Pride; the Sociolinguistics of East Javanese Slang
This study offers an overview of the characteristics and social functions of youth slang in the Indonesian province of East Java. It examines Boso Walikan and various types of Surabayan slang. Boso Walikan emerged in Malang as a secret language that was deliberately made unintelligible to outsiders. Over the decades, large parts of Malang's urban population developed proficiency in the language and appropriated it as an identity marker. The situation in nearby Surabaya is different. While lacking a uniform local slang comparable to that of Malang, several communities make an effort to differentiate themselves through specific linguistic habits, which are briefly introduced. These case studies tell us not only how young people shape their speech, they illustrate how the East Javanese dialect deals with linguistic variety, lexical borrowing and innovation
A STUDY OF INMATE ARGOT IN ROMANIAN PRISONS
The lexis and structure of prison argot reflect the personalities of inmates who employthem, as well as the conflicts and tensions inherent in prison settings. It is shown in this article thatthe distinctiveness of prison argot is largely a product of the character of penal context. Its extent ofuse varies with the extent of penal discipline. Appreciation of this complex relationship mightfacilitate improved communication between prisoners and custodial authorities. In addition, knowledge of prison argot meanings has a potential to improve the management of prison-basedprograms and thus appears helpful in the complex process of prisoners' rehabilitation and socialreintegration

BUSINESS BUZZWORDS: RIGHTSIZING, DOWNSIZING, RE-ENGINEERING, DE-LAYERING
The paper attempts to analyse the rise and use of a new vocabulary (economic buzzwords) related to staff dismissal in the new economy of the world. In this new economy, the organizational boundaries between states and firms become unclear and a new vocabulary has been conceived in order to express the changes the firms are undergoing. The new rhetoric includes buzzwords like privatization, de-regulation, re-engineering, rightsizing, downsizing, de-layering, quality service or global sourcing. The research is based on the conclusions of bibliographical and direct research of the literature relevant in the field, trying to emphasise the importance of strategic language when it comes to human resources management. Concepts like freedom of speech, politically correct language or non-discriminatory language are brought to attention and analysed focusing on their importance during periods of change and uncertainty characterising the economic environment nowadays. Two trends are depicted in the paper: the first is that of the supporters of political correctness who attempt to homogenize the language and thought to enhance the self-esteem of minorities. One approach to reaching this goal is to eliminate discriminatory or offensive words and phrases and the substitutions of harmless vocabulary at the expense of economy, clarity, and logic. Another approach is to deconstruct a word or phrase into its component parts, treat the component parts as wholes, and focus on secondary meanings of the component parts. On the other hand, reflecting upon the nature of large-scale organizational restructuring, there are the critics arguing that this type of language is a euphemistic form of phraseology. The analysis starts with the assumption that the economic lexis is not a rigid system of terms. Morphologically, there is a high degree of variety in productive types of compounding which exceeds the possibilities that exist in the common English vocabulary. In this view, four buzzwords (rightsizing, downsizing, re-engineering, de-layering) have been chosen as representative for this process and, also, due to the difficulty of translating them into Romanian. Also, the etymology of these buzzwords is analysed and by this the paper attempts to find why managers have adopted these as their favourite terms when discussing large-scale organizational restructuring.buzzwords, rightsizing, downsizing, re-engineering, de-layering
Editor\u27s Notes
Since the passing of two high-profile state legislative bills aimed at Arizona\u27s Latino residents this past April, the significance of ethnicity for American citizens has once again surfaced as a topic for national debate. Whether to legitimize, or just as frequently deny, what defines American identity, the question and meaning of one\u27s ethnic roots continues to be a contested matter for many Americans. In particular, HB 2281, a bill targeting the restriction of ethnic studies curricula in Arizona\u27s K- 12 educational system, has prompted accusations that Ethnic Studies scholarship and teachings work against a unified sense of nationhood by encouraging separatism and anti-American sentiment. Yet, as most Ethnic Studies proponents would counter, it is instead the artificial notion of a monolithic American identity, predicated upon a hegemonic rendering of what it is to be an American, that promotes divisions and distrust within a nation. In either case, the ambivalence over how to read the ambiguities of race and ethnicity implicit in U.S. citizenry underscore the ongoing need to address them. As such, the six authors featured in this issue provide fresh and thoughtful examinations of how race and ethnicity complicate understandings of self. Although diverse in content, the articles collectively consider the effects of how the ambivalence of ethnic origins both expand and challenge the meaning of American identity
AN ANALYSIS ON REGISTER USED BY ACADEMIC STAFFOF BINA AVIA PERSADA TRAINING CENTERAT UNIVERSITY INN
Language, as a tool of communication is needed to connect people in a community. That is why it is important to study language and things related with it. The development of language is influenced by the society, so they create many kinds of language variation, including dialect, argot, jargon, slang, colloquial, register, etc. Here, the writer discussed one of those language variations, that is register. Register is a stylistic variant of a language appropriate to a particular setting. Register often used by people in certain place. Here the writer studied about the registers used by Academic Staff of “Bina Avia Persada Training Center” in University Inn.
This study used descriptive qualitative design to get the information. The subjects of the study were the three staffs who involved in Bina Avia Persada Training Center activities. The writer chose them because of their knowledge related with this study. This study used two kinds of instruments. They were observation and structured interview. They were used to seek the information and to get the necessary data related to register used by the Academic staff of Bina Avia Persada Training Center at University Inn. In data analysis, the writer analyzed the data by interpreting, synthesizing, categorizing, and organizing data into patterns that produce a descriptive and narrative synthesis.
The writer found out that the total registers used by Academic Staff of Bina Avia Persada are 43 registers. From the 43 registers, 40 registers could be grouped into formal registers, and the 3 registers grouped into informal registers. In this finding, another registers such as over-formal registers, motherese, and reporting registers were not found.
The writer hopes that Bina Avia Persada Institution improves the use of registers related with flight education to make the communication easier. For the lecturers, this study can be useful to show the real example of using registers in daily life of specific community, and also the writer hopes that the future researcher would discuss the same topic with different perspective to complete knowledge about registers application
