Molding apparatus
Apparatus for compression molding of thermosetting plastics compositions including interfitting hollow male and female components is reported. The components are adapted to be compressed to form a rocket nozzle in a cavity. A thermal jacket is provided exteriorly adjacent to the female component for circulating a thermal transfer fluid to effect curing of a thermosetting plastics material being molded. Quantum Coherence, Coherent Information and Information Gain in Quantum Measurement
A measurement is deemed successful, if one can maximize the information gain
by the measurement apparatus. Here, we ask if quantum coherence of the system
imposes a limitation on the information gain during quantum measurement. First,
we argue that the information gain in a quantum measurement is nothing but the
coherent information or the distinct quantum information that one can send from
the system to apparatus. We prove that the maximum information gain from a pure
state, using a mixed apparatus is upper bounded by the initial coherence of the
system. Further, we illustrate the measurement scenario in the presence of
environment. We argue that the information gain is upper bounded by the entropy
exchange between the system and the apparatus. Also, to maximize the
information gain, both the initial coherence of the apparatus, and the final
entanglement between the system and apparatus should be maximum. Moreover, we
find that for a fixed amount of coherence in the final apparatus state the more

Hollow cathode apparatus
A hollow cathode apparatus is described, which can be rapidly and reliably started. An ignitor positioned upstream from the hollow cathode, generates a puff of plasma that flows with the primary gas to be ionized through the cathode. The plasma puff creates a high voltage breakdown between the downstream end of the cathode and a keeper electrode, to heat the cathode to an electron-emitting temperature
Spine immobilization apparatus
The apparatus makes use of a normally flat, flexible bladder filled with beads or micro-balloons that form a rigid mass when the pressure within the bladder is decreased below ambient through the use of a suction pump so that the bladder can be conformed to the torso of the victim and provide the desired restraint. The bladder is strapped to the victim prior to being rigidified by an arrangement of straps which avoid the stomach area. The bladder is adapted to be secured to a rigid support, i.e., a rescue chair, so as to enable removal of a victim after the bladder has been made rigid. A double sealing connector is used to connect the bladder to the suction pump and a control valve is employed to vary the pressure within the bladder so as to soften and harden the bladder as desired

The apparatus includes many latching assemblies carried by a platform on the vehicle and a like number of latching elements carried by the payload and adapted to mate with the latching assemblies. The novelty of the invention is believed to reside in the use of complementary hemispherical elements which automatically align and engage with one another. This enables a simple but effective mode of operation and avoids the need for hinged linkages and similar moving parts
